  • This song makes love to my ear vaginas.

  • @sub1ime99 Nicely put.

  • one of the best track ever in music history

  • David Motherfucker Gilmour - how You can create sounds like that ?!

  • the sound of the strat is the best sound i have ever heard from a guitar

  • @LigalizeWeed it's just one of the best songs ever made by mankind.. definitely

  • this video was perfect until you put that abbey road bullshit in there. fuck the beatles...easily the most overrated band ever.

the pompeii version of Echoes is the best i think.

Nick Mason is very underrated - he has some sick fills he pulls out every once in a while.

  • There's just not enough weed to enjoy a Floyd Album.

  • This song blows my big Azn dick!!!!

  • @ Secregor Asians like you don't have dicks. Why are you watching this video then? Hypocritic fuck...

  • perhaps their greatest work

  • nice work !!!

  • A 1 song!

  • semplicemente perfetti

  • its a fender...cmon dude...

  • sorry, im a classical guitarist, not a bass player,

    but thanks

    do you know what model?

  • @SkateTS808 stratocaster ;)

  • fender jazz

  • i thought roger uses a precision

  • is it just me or does 6:40 sound like phantom of the opera

  • lol thats true

  • @sportmanic50 this is older. waters claims webber stole it

  • wow too much lsd

  • this song is so awesome

no wonder its considered one of the best ever

  • Why don't we have more of this today? How did music become what it is now? Now, it's a business, it's not about the feeling anymore. Good old music, I wish you were here.

  • theres plenty of great music out there u just have to look other places such as bands that give music for free on myspace or over the web etc, theres loads just got to not look where society generally looks

  • There is plenty of music that's as magical as this coming out today, I'd say more than there was back than.

Yes, a business has been created around music, it was around back than too. But it you have enough sensibility to sift through the bland marketing artists and find the gems.

it was like that back than too, for the handful of amazing artists people talk about from the 60's/70's, there were a lot more terrible marketing artists. People seem to forget that.

  • Precisely.

  • Scythe, if you want a band with genuine heart and soul, then check out Porcupine Tree. It doesn't get much more genuine then that.

  • I blame nirvana

  • Music's the way it is now because the winds have changed direction, and the general public likes different music now. Music that just happens to be talentless drivel. It's always been a business, so don't entertain romantic notions of it ever being otherwise. Sure, there were a few exceptions (Anyone remember that one time the Dead played a free concert directly outside a stadium?), but Pink Floyd was never among them. Waters himself said they were in it to get rich. Good music, but be realistic

  • They do, youre just not looking hard enough

  • yeah.....the best!!!!!

  • god bless pink floyd for making this music ;)

  • ...before music became a drum loop with a metronome behind it.

  • my friend told me it was a really fancy pickup

  • Is that Roger making that noise at 7:47, with the resonance after it; or Wright? What makes that noise that comes in at 9:37? And finally, how is that noise made that comes in at 10:50?

  • 7:47- Wright on keyboards

9:37- Waters sliding up the fretboard on the bass, briefly passing over the 7th and 12th harmonics while he does.

10:50- Not exactly sure what you were referring to, so i'll guess it was the keyboards again, because Wright leads the transition into Part 2 (actually more like part 3 or 4), and then Gilmour screams that amazing, psychotic seagull solo.

  • Hey there genius, thanks for answering.

    Cudn't help but think though

what is it that makes that base sound so great. It must take alot of requirements to get that sound, right?

Psychotic seagull solo. Did u just make that up or what? Is that the noise that starts at around 10:48? How does he do it. Does he just continuously move the plectrum really quickly back and forth over a string?

  • Is that Roger who does that thing on the bass at 7:47? How does he play the main bass line and it at the same time?

Also, how come the bass sounds so different?

Oh, and what makes that noice that comes in at 9:37? It looks like they're trying to makee it look like Roger's doing it.

And aswell, what makes that noice that comes in at around 10:50?

  • prostě super skladba skvělá nejlepší kapela

  • I'd like to see Gilmour do that today; 9:53

  • i listen to this song everyday to retain my sanity.

  • LOLOL IM LISTENING TO IT RIGHT NOW LKMAO>>>>> its hellla funnny hahaahahahanahaaaasdf awhoooo lkano hella trippy....tripppuibg off of echos lmao....

  • i'm embarrassed i can kind of even understand you, Jslaughter. yes, it is trippy as hell, as is all incredibly great progressive rock music, but i think you should know, pink floyd is an incredible band because they can take you out of this world WITHOUT EVEN BEING HIGH! Have some more respect for music man, and sober up. All you need is some air to breathe and heavy eyelids. Drift.

  • That's a point made many times in a lot of comments on Floyd tracks. They get you tripping with no chemical assistance. During the AHM at Hyde Park I found myself gripping the grass to stop myself floating off it - I hadn't even had a beer that day!

  • you suck

  • GIlmour's guitar is amazing, as usual. I got to see him live in Toronto in '06. They played Echoes. It was unbelievable.

    Wonderful vocals.

    RIP RIck Wright.

  • okay i can tell u al what it means u have to think of people as spiders and we live where we are are webs are or houses and everything else is just what it is weed should be legailize like i could smoke a whole fuckin field of weed if i wanted and their would be no harm it would just go rite through u but yea were all just a bunch of trippy spiders

  • muy chingon!!!

  • A man on drugs is PHYSICALLY handicaped not mentally.

You just trip around things and around your mind but your body remains totally silent and calm.

Such a beautiful feeling can only be reached when high or in love.

Perfection is reached when high on love.

  • Do you realize what you said makes absolutely no sense at all?

  • I pity mans who were never on drugs while listening to such things because drugs when used in reasonnable quantities are just another way of perception and a way to explore things not a way to escape from things like some people like to say.

For me people need to use because these plants or natural psychoactive substances were not placed on earth with no purpose.

Use is good and even sometimes healthy but abuse isn't...

  • Haha you're really confused and inarticulate but you give off the impression that you think your smart and know what you're talking about. Who do you think you are to tell anyone what the point of music and drugs are? Atleast all the other people who commented about the issue had valid opinions, you just sound like an idiot.

  • wow really dumb fuck.....the more you "try" to explain the more you sound stupid.

  • best echoes vid yet!

  • This song is amazing

  • I can't believe the camera guys and crew got paid to watch this

  • I pity people who need narcotics to enjoy music...

  • Watched this while rolling was scary yet intriguing... I sware I saw faces on and in just about everything... Pink Floyd is yet the best band in the world and are artists in their own right

  • Unquestionably my favorite Pink Floyd tune. I first heard this song on a small AM Transistor Radio in the late 1960's. Very late at night, I could faintly pick up an AM Radio Station from Chicago from central PA (about 800 miles away) and I heard this song for the first time from that Chicago station in its entirety. After hearing this song, I was forever addicted to Pink Floyd. They have become my favorite band, and they remain so. Saw them in '77 at the Spectrum in Philly. Phenomenal!!

  • that a big 10-4 LOVE FLOYD.

  • I love Pink Floyd :)

  • This song is wonderful! Once, After a long night on shrooms, I lessened to this song while i watched the sun rise arise up from the British Columbia mountains! It was simply beautiful! This is now my favorite Pink Floyd song!

  • i have flash backs from shrooms when i watch this

  • I don't need shrooms, I see the music & feel it's glory for the dead to rise in their natural path & the satyr will lead them with flute in hand, the morning's dew drips as the hooves tap their way on the Appian way, & a million melancholia memories come trickling down like drops in a tear storm.

  • it gets old and drugs become us, a man is just a man but a man on drugs is mentally handicapped

life gets boring without the drugs my friend, its the perfect non-mutual relationship we all secretly hate, but will never admit.

  • @SkaterKyoto That is ok. But I think this is the place I stop to care. It´s too beasty.

  • @SkaterKyoto It's just an escape after a while, and then everything sober feels like a downer. I'll have to admit. Life didn't feel that way before I did them. Now I don't get high anymore, and I'm feeling happy when I'm sober again. I wrote some great music high, but I'm writing better music sober now. Drugs are the illusion we use to justify great music. Now I just do it, and people enjoy it. Never needed the drugs. These guys have talent. Drugs never gave them that.

  • @SkaterKyoto that's my live you are talking about!! ;)

  • @SkaterKyoto I admit I use Cannabis for recreational purposes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thats a start, but shrooms will make all that come to life.

  • And why do people like you complain when people have different tastes in music?

  • lol

  • watch pink floyd pompeii on shroom then youve lived life

  • your the only other person that ive heard say that, watching this tripping HARD changed my fucking life haha.

  • ummm no......

  • The Best Song Ever...

  • Gotta love it about 7:30 in when they lay down the groove. Waters & Wright just drivin the hell outta the tune.

  • What the ...

    Wow, I ...

    No, ...

    Yeah, ...

Not any words to explain what is Echoes. Sorry.

  • As always, WOW!

  • Whos playing organ at 2:40 and why dont you see amps behind Davids head or anywhere Ricks while they sing? Mason stick flip at 6:23 thank you.

  • rick was singing because he wrote this song, chumleh Roger Waters admitted he did LSD and that it influenced their music And he even wrote their best songs, And if you take a hit or 2 and listen to their album Animals you will see what i mean, and wish you were here. its obvious they did lsd

  • best song ever. it makes me remember the happiest days of my life and makes me commove

  • looks like Rick and David switched the vocal parts didn't they

  • Pink Floyd's the best band ever, and they've left a trail of influence which shows up in bands like Dream Theater. :)

If you like Echoes, you'll probably like Eloy's album "Ocean." No one knows about Eloy, but they're really good. Try it out.

  • how the fuck are they anything alike????

  • Who, Pink Floyd and Eloy or Pink Floyd and Dream Theater?

  • floyd and eloy

  • trust me my man I know and love Eloy.

    I also worship pink floyd

  • alryt then....may hafta listen a bit more to them :-)

  • And where are the amazing bands, the bands that will be around for 100 years, the bands with people like David Gilmour nowadays? Music is going downhill

  • They should bring back LSD....then people would be creative again as they were back in the days!

  • xD nice

they were not really inspired by drugs... nowadays people just dont fit anymore. i mean, pink floyd was so awesome because, even though there were differences between them, they worked together and inspired each other...

  • Believe you me, LSD has not gone anywhere. And LSD is not what influenced these people. Check out Spock's Beard. You'll see what I mean.

  • If this was recorded live, then how come it shows them in the studio singing?

  • It is taken from the director's cut version of Live at Pompeii. That version differs from the original film to the extent of showing extra pictures of the landscape and videos of the studio work of the band. It also inculdes the studio sessions of DSOTM. Anyway the music you hear is absolutely live.

  • for the people whom were commenting on such things as shrooms and acid and music, well ive only done shrooms once. i started to listen to Any Colour You Like and the room i was in starting pulsing red. side note, only do shrooms with someone that you really know and that you feel deep down in side is a true friend. because lets just say, the true nature tends to come out.

  • any colour you like tripped me the fuck out

  • glad to see somebody knows what im talking about. what was your trip like?

  • i ate them at a park, chilled there for a few hours, then my freind and i got picked up by another freind and he had dsotm in his car and i asked him to play any colour you like.and it was amazing

  • one of the best songs to play on guitar too

  • Yes it is! :)

  • "Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air

And deep beneath the rolling waves

    In labyrinths of coral caves

The echo of a distant time

    Comes willowing across the sand

And everything is green and submarine."

Amazing lyrics, throughout the whole damn song.

R.I.P Wright. You're a genious and will always be remembered.

  • Richard Wright †

  • Rotating Lesly through a grand. Rick was the man.

  • rip wright.

  • R.I.P. Richard you song in this masterpiece and your piano and your voice will be remember forever.

  • R.I.P. Richard my biggest piano/organ influence.

  • Thanks Rick and Rest in Peace

  • Fucking Awesom, i love pink floyd_!

the best song of meddle cd

  • Cette chanson est une oeuvre artistique

  • Vraiement!

My French is a bit shoddy, else I'd write something better that 'truely!'

  • Simply the BEST!!! Love PINK FLOYD

  • uno dei brani più belli dei pink floyd

  • My favorite Floyd song.

  • lol me too, I love when it is at 16 mins, with the groovy beat, all the way to 20 mins....

  • The greatest band of every time... It is the classical music of the XX century

  • claro sentido de que la musica no es para impresionar sino para expresar i experimentar ... a mi parecer ... gracias por el video ')

  • Roger Waters is so amazing in this song his riffs are so awesome

  • Oh by the way... which ones Pink?

  • that's a lyric from "have a cigar"...

  • No, no, Arturojose16, YOU are the stupid one.

    It's a line in Have A Cigar:

Well I've always had a deep respect

And I mean that most sincerely

Oh by the way- which one's Pink?

  • dont worry ForTheHerd, i know its semantics but..

"Well I've always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely.

The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.

Oh by the way, which one's Pink?"

that other noob is clearly a noob :) most likely the type of person they were referring to with the lyrics in question :)

  • It's a line in Have A Cigar you moron. I don't think anyone could be that stupid.

  • by the way there's no floyd either

  • You mean Pink, like in The Wall?

For in the Wall, Pink represents Roger Waters. ;)

  • why don't you have a cigar?

  • Id rather ride... na I aint riding shit or sucking on anything for that matter. You'll be surprised how many people dont know who pink is tho. Ive gotten there is no pink or pink was the character in the movie the floyd is pink... sigh. I cant wait when the great economic collapse happens. Its going to happen right across the board. I dont think rock and roll will go first. The market for rock and roll is expanding at a phenomenal rate. People constantly say rocks dying.Every six months some

  • So Roger spoke... : )

  • Good girl!

  • Wow, the man has memorized the entire waters interview. Too bad that doesn't hold much weight anymore as rock and roll has turned into a pile of shit.. the market has been tainted with the disease that is fall out boy, that is nickelback.. we've lost great number such as rhpc and radiohead who are now slowly exiting the arena.... IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?

  • Honest music is hard to come by but its out there. I think if you have a wide enough pallet of taste and not shrug off the first thing without a guitar you might find something. Remember that we are an evolving species. It took us how long to climb from the the deepest darkest depths on to land... I don think the equipment could take over. We do rely on it alot, I mean we couldnt do what we do as we do it without it. We could still do good entertaining musical show I suppose without it but all t

  • without a guitar? there is no rock without a guitar (and its variants)

  • I read in a band bio called Saucerful of Secrets that the original title of this song was meant to be "The Return of the Son of Nothing".

  • Pink Floyd= Awesome Performance=Greatfulness= Pink Floyd

  • Pink Floyd = Intelligence

  • Damn right you are!!

  • I have you on my subscriptions.

Its so amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.

  • Amazing, I could listen to this song for days.

  • yep, me too, i have done it sometime though , well, it is kinda big so i wouldnt listen to it again and agian for too long XP

  • One of the greatest song of music history

  • No, this is the greatest:)

  • chiknfingaz

  • this song and shrooms is a great combination

that song is a work of art

  • just add acid and your SET i think floyd is way more of acid music then shrooms its all about incubus when your mushin more funk, i cant really chull on shrooms i jsut become a animal!

  • Beethovens 9th is where it is at on shrooms.

This song however, I would agree is much more of an acid song.

  • You don't need acid to love this music. There hasn't been any decent acid since the 70s anyway.

  • I agree you don't need acid to love it but it sure does enhance it! I know theres decent acid too, its just very very hard to find, I watched this whole DVD on acid and it changed my life.

  • COOL!

  • Beethovens 9th is where it is at on shrooms.

This song however, I would agree is much more of an acid song.

  • PINK FLOYD!!! (and im from the ipod generation lol) so amazing

  • Me too, I have 19 and I love Pink Floyd, I've listened all their works and I'm in love whit them... They are my favorite band, the 5 only members of the history of PF are my idols.

    Syd Barret... +

    David Gilmor

Nicholas Mason (The eternal drumer of PF)

    Roger Waters

    Richard Wright (An oculted ginus...)

  • Awesome! David Gilmor is my favorite <3

  • Syd Barret beats David Gilmor by far...

  • Ha, I could argue against that for hours, but we all have opinions.

  • That's what I call ART!

  • Great to listen to in the morning. So subtle and balanced tune. Although long, it brings you into another world and there's no time to be bored:)

  • one of the best of PINK FLOYD

  • i dont think music gets better than this.

  • This fuckin' video is *priceless*! Thanks! What I would've given to have been able to have viewed this in '71! Nearly 40 years later and the poetry & tunes are more relevant than ever!

  • That where great times, to great...

    Great music...

The world will never be the same...

Almost everyday you fall before my awaking eyes, inviting and inciting me to rise...

    Great piece of text...

  • cloudless everyday, you fall,

    upon my waking eyes,

inviting and inciting me to rise.....

  • One of the greatest group of musicians ever. The world will never see the likes of a band so great ever again.

  • dave is soooo cute at 4:57 =P

  • i'm certain webber copied this song too...

  • and where is the second part?

  • yummy music

  • Roger Waters in an intervieew claimed that Andrew Lloyd Webber (the phantom of the opera guy) had copied from echoes ,,,, then in one of his solo songs his making fun of Webber but i dn remember what thas song is called

  • The song is called "It's a miracle". It's on the Amused to Death cd.
