I agree with you on the violent reactions. I think its disrespectful. But I have to disagree with you on the president. I am pretty sure he doesn't protest for religious reasons and after all he is taking the leadership role of the country. That would be like your doctor or lawyer refusing to take their oaths. You would be less likely to trust them to handle your business. Just my two cents. Peace.

i get crap all the time for not standing up for the pledge,at skool,pep rallys,etc. luckily for me its never gone as far as getting hit or spat at.the most ive gotten is a teacher mocking me for it.apparently its a skool rule to stand up for the pledge
Reciting the pledge of allegiance can be seen as a pledge to support the country an the people what govern it, no matter WHAT they may do, an if it's right or not.
