There, you have just one example of American double standards and absolute self interest at the expense of "less worthy" nations, as perceived in their self imposed "superiority".
2: The UK will have no say in the matter at all - the accused Briton will have to be extradited to the USA, as is happening in one high profile case at the present time....the accused Briton had to be put on a plane to the USA with no protest allowed by the British. If the nationalities were reversed then the Americans, in their profound arrogance, reserve the right to refuse extradition to the UK, under the same circumstances exactly, of any American citizen similarly accused by the British!!!
You want an example of American arrogance and sheer audacity? Then consider the iniquity of the very lop sided Extradition Treaty between the UK and the USA whereby citizens of one country being accused of committing a crime in the other, vis a vis the US and the UK. The Americans have the gall to insist that all Britons accused by the Americans of committing a crime against the interests of the US even if committed in the UK be extradited forthwith to the US for trial, no ifs and buts!
It really is true that Americans who can legitimately claim to be of British ancestry are now very much a small minority in the USA...do not confuse British with European...a fair number of Americans are of European ancestry with no British connections at all. Anyway, it now appears that Americans of white European ancestry will be in an overall minority in the USA by 2050 with non-white Americans outnumbering them across the board....fastest growing group will be those of Latin American origin.
@quidseeker Only a small minority of Americans can legitimiately claim to be of British origin - the great majority have absolutely no direct links with GB at all, so they have no affiliation whatsoever. The British have quite good reason to feel at least some antipathy towards the USA - not towards its people generally but towards its Government(s) & American officialdom which they see as extremely arrogant, self seeking & incredibly domineering...eg: the unfair UK/US Extradition Treaty - crazy!
@Verderer This is a rediculous claim. Americans whom are ethnically Anglo-Saxon make up most of the country. We were a colony of Great Britain in the first place, that's to be expected.
Of course many of us are guilty of misconceptions based on stereotypical impressions of a country of which we have little knowledge apart from what we see on TV, read in the press or in other sources, & to which we have never personally been, but I do base a lot of my comments on which I have heard from Americans themselves who either live in the UK or merely visiting my country. Almost all of them wished they had the equivalent of the UK NHS service - we do have access to private healthcare too!
@quidseeker You are kidding nobody - California more robust economy than the UK? Are you serious? It may be fine for the rich in CA, but as in the rest of the USA, where profit & corporate greed reign supreme @ the expense of the impoverished underclass, life is pretty dire for the socially deprived over there with little in the way of State help or a decent healthcare system for the uninsured - minimum cover at best for them..USA:sink or swim..tent cities, food stamps, sleeping under bridges?
All I hear is jealousy. What Brits think ultimately means less than what a dog means when it's barking. You're nothing more than an antiquated curiosity, with California alone having a more robust economy. Brits that have half a brain and aren't clinging to their stuffy unimportant class titles want to get the fuck out of their own country and come live in the States! That plain looking limey cunt who said we're from Barbaric origins, does this bitch know anything? We used to be British! Ha!
As for American domestic issues and the way they run their country and society then that is entirely their own affair. However, I would say that to many Britons and other Europeans American society is quite cruel and heartless, it's healthcare system is appalling for millions of its citizens, its people are astonishingly ignorant of most things beyond the US or even their own home States, its judicial system is a disgrace &riddled with double standards. The wealthy survive, the poor flounder.
@Gavestonful Contrary to what you've been taught or told about our healthcare system, no person can be nor is denied treatment for any reason. It's federal law. I wish you and others on the European continent would understand this. Who has pounded this into you? The BBC or some other outlet? It's phenominal to me that you still believe this. How exactly is our judicial system a disgrace? Your court released the Lockerbie bomber in exchange for an oil deal. THAT'S disgraceful.
I don't think that, generally speaking, the British have any real issues with the American PEOPLE as such (except for those rather obnoxiously loud and arrogant and incredibly ignorant US tourists we encounter in the UK). Some individual Americans are really nice and friendly. I think we must talk about US Governments and bizarre US Presidents and the arrogant attitude towards other countries, their foreign policy, their claims to "empire", double standards and lack of international respect.
@Gavestonful While you're evidently a sensible and intelligent person, I can see your idea of what America is and what Americans are like is still marred with misconceptions and unfair stereotypes. You've touched on a number of topics and I can't address them all (what with the character limit), but I'm sure you would have a very different opinion if you came here.
@Gavestonful This is one big problem that I have with many of these silly claims. Many of you Europeans say that you have a problem with our foreign policy yet you never elaborate as to what specifically you have a problem with. And our claims to "empire"? Last I checked, you were the only ones calling us an "empire" in the first place.
Mr Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously."Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."The American said,"The last time I was here I didn't have to show it." "Impossible..Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!"
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country I couldnt find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."
@CheckM8King2 That was pathetic. Can I remind you that the French YOUR country gain independence in the 18th century? Or have you like many other ridiculously stupid Americans decided to pretend you did it all by yourselves?
@dezboss Don't get so f**king defensive. It was meant as an anecdotal statement on how some Americans view Europe. In no way was it meant to insult the French!
Wow...As an American if I were to speak of another country at a dinner party it would be about my personal experiences while visiting! I may have a short converstion about another country if it's in the current headlines, but thats about it. To be honest, I really don't give a F*CK about another countries politics, nor does anyone I know. These people obviously have a major chip on their shoulder which is extremely pathetic! I guess this is where the term cynical Brit comes from...Unbelievable!
@ClintDykes and that there is the problem with the American people 'in a nutshell'...ref. 'To be honest, I really don't give a F*CK about another countries politics, nor does anyone I know.'
But the US Govt. through it's aggressive Foreign Policy, does! Which is why the more there is so much hatred towards the US, today.
@tevitarosa Don't get it twisted...I said I don't talk about other countries "politics"! So you're telling me that you sit around a dinner table and talk about the British Prime Minister or the British Parliament for lengthy periods of time! Do you even know who the Prime Minister of Britian is without Googling it? What about any other country, how about Canada? You're full of SHIT, & this video is absolutely absurd! I don't need you to tell me "what the problem is", so go on!!!
@ClintDykes is that some sort of joke, without goggling it, of course! David Cameron. Unlike you and your friends I do take an interest in International Affairs; like it or not, 'apart from burying your head in the sand', the US is the 'biggest player at the table', of International Affairs, whose every move impacts drastically on every other player seated.
Seems like you need to wake up and smell the cofee!
@tevitarosa Obviously you have your agenda...Educating and saving the civilized world one YouTube comment at a time. So go spam up every video with "Ron Paul 2012" and get fucked! Have a nice day!
@tevitarosa These people were not speaking of US Foreign policy. They were taking shots at the American people. Obviously we have watched two totally different videos!
@ClintDykes the reason why alot of people hate America and take their frastrations out against the American people i.e. sat around dinner tables, is because of the Govts. unwanted meddling in International affairs.
We profess this an' that but seldom live up to that fairy tale standard. Critizing America and the American people is an end result of these frastrations.
@ClintDykes lol just because u dnt talk about other countries doesnt mean people arnt supposed to.Maybe u should learn about other countries that is one of americas problems lack of knowledge of other countries and a refusal to do so
@ruthio1 I didn't say I don't discuss other countries! If you're going to reply to my comments make sure you read them all! I don't sit and trash people from other countries because I don't agree with their governments foreign policy...EVER! They're obsessed with the US and and so pathetic it's hilarious! I don't need you to tell me "what the problem is"...I spent seven months in Europe and four of those were in England and Scotland! I know what the problem is!
@ClintDykes so because british people talk about other countries America included we have the problem. Maybe its because we see problems in America that Europe has dealt with since. We can comment on things we believe we do better for one you still have states in america killing prisoners. In Europe it is seen as barbaric thus we comment on how strange you can be at times. Also dont think you are the only country british people talk about you are over stating your importance.
@ruthio1 Your arrogance is blinding! Swallow your ego and watch the video on the screen! The name of this video is "THE ANTI-AMERICANS - A British Dinner Party"! I made an observation and commented. These people in this video are cynical and passive aggressive...There's no way around it! I don't assume all of Britain is like this, unlike these people have about Americans! I've visited the UK personally and have made my own assumption first hand! I suggest you do the same!
@ClintDykes You do need to find something intelligent to say, instead of just ranting. Ranting just makes it sound like someone has really got to you.
@ClintDykes I read all your comments and found some of the replies puzzling. I thought you stated them quite eloquently. I had no problem undestanding your point of view..
@ClintDykes hahaha i had been to florida 4 times by the time i was 16 so dont speculate.Stop talking like your some psychologist. People dont need to go somewhere to know you have 15,00 murders a year or u have 40 million people without healthcare or even that you have more homeless people in LA than we have in the whole of Britain. People are allowed their opinion without u shouting them down no matter how bad,do you think people protect free speech because everyone has nice things to say.NO
@ruthio1 Shouting them down? Really? With my keyboard? You've got problems. I suggest you seek help immediately, even if it is shitty government handout medical care. Twist the "facts" all you want, it still doesn't change the whole concept of this video! It must be really nice living in one country and being obsessed with another. BTW-A couple trips to Disney World hardly warrants you knowing fuck-all about America! Have a wonderful night.
@ClintDykes You haven't the 1st clue on Govt. backed Medicare!
It's a monopoly and history has proven monopolies never work. All you have to do is take a look at the former Soviet Union. Monopolies stiffle growth, advancement.
@ClintDykes well yes shouting them dwn. ur argument is if u go somewhere u are allowed the hate htem but if you havnt then u are not hahahaha u psycho. And yea go ahead ur one sacking away from dying from a infected ear in america LMAO.And no my nan lived in talllahassee thats why I went there lol. Like i said before brits talk about most countries u fool stop making out we only talk about you. I mean we made these countries so when u vote in BUSH twice its gona get countries talking u fool LMAO
This is sad. It is the typical preseumptive, cold hearted, aloof attitude that is simply vile and cruel. It only shows how lost morally and vindictive and ungrateful the Europeans are for us. I venture to say most have never met a real American or spent time with any. They only believe what they see on TV. That is closed minded and sad and very ignorant. Come to America...skip NY, LA. Visit Carlisle, PA.....Macon, GA....Bismark, ND. Visit the real America. You may like what you see.
This video reminds me of why I love being American. I'd rather be a barbarian than an elitist. The biggest kick is that if 9-11 had happened in any European country they wouldn't question for a second our support for them to the fullest extent.
It would have been more beneficial if America as a nation had died in it's infancy back in the late 1700, early 1800's. It has done more damage and brought more strife, pain and suffering in these last 50 years than any nation has since recorded time.
@tevitarosa Yes, that should've happened and thus the world wouldn't have the PC, the microprocesser, the transistor, the CD, the electronic spreadsheet, etc. And the European Empires wouldn't have had an emerging nation to resist them in their acts of Imperialism, something that the U.S. spent much of the 1800's doing, same with the Soviets. And what about the Soviet-Afghan War that claimed close to 2 million lives, or the Russian-Georgian War in 2008, Mexico's Drug War, or the Holocaust?
so their whole friendship is based on a mutual hate, plus they are wrong about alot of that.lol esp. BUSH being smart. btw i am american and have lived in Cardiff, wales.lol
Ha Ha this is pathetic coming from Britain..you guys literally ruined the world in the 1800's and turn of the century..god bless the queen and its colonies eh?
unlike you im not a drain on society and I spend my time being productive. so what types of perverison have you occupied yourself with since our last exchange? im sure your still living off your government . the alcohol and drugs you're on aren't helping your situation at all maybe you should prostitute yourself? (probably tried that) hey im just trying to help so dont get mad me for suggestions. :)
As an American of British ancestry, it is mighty funny that Americans are actually better educated than Brits (more likely to graduate high school and college). America has always been civilized. Also, I'd like to remind everyone that George W. Bush is a highly educated man having gone to Andover, Yale, and Harvard.
@JohnRhysMusician George W. Bush was a bumbling baffoon and for him to be elected is a reflection of the american populus as a whole, dumbed down, uneducated, politically naive and ignorant....George W. Bush typifies to the outside world the image of the 'stereotypical dumb American'.
@JohnRhysMusician I don't know any facts when it comes to White Anglo Saxon Protestants, in the US. They might be the dominant group when it comes to numbers, but in sofar as influence, I beg to differ. The ethnic group that most influence within your country, far from being the largest, are the Jews.
@davevak The U.S. was the largest Jewish country in the world until around the 1990s, but still out of 44 American presidents, 42 have been White Anglo Saxon Protestants. I'm beginning to realize that there is a lot of anti-semitism on the internet. Maybe the perception is that because the US is so strongly supportive of Israel that means that Jews are highly influential, but the reality is that US-Israel policy enjoys broad support, especially among Evangelical Christians and Republicans.
@JohnRhysMusician true, there is alot of anti-semitism out there, because this is a public forum, people with differing opinions will always clash, bigotry comes in many forms. We're all in one way or another guilty of it (I'll hold my hand up).
But perception and reality are the same thing when it comes to policy and Jewish influence, especially when it comes to US Foreign Policy.
The Israeli government is placed on a pedestal [in the US], and to criticize it is to be immediately dubbed anti-Semitic. People are scared in the US, to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful -- very powerful.
Alot of Anit-Americanism is rooted here. Take the problem in Palestine, most of the world regards Israel's policies, and especially its oppression of Palestinians, as outrageous and criminal. An International consensus, reflelcted in numerous UN resolutions condemning Israel, which have been approved with overwhelming majorities. Yet the US continues to support Israel, crucial military, diplomatic and financial backing, including more than $3 billion each year in aid.
The Jewish zionist influence on US Foreign Policy has resulted in the most tubulent times in the history of mankind, which is only getting worse. The prognosis isn't good.
An anti-zionist and anti-semitist are two different things, I'm against the Israeli Zionist agenda.
@davevak The Jewish lobby is very powerful, but what many foreigners fail to understand is that US-Israel policy enjoys widespread domestic support, across ideologies, parties, racial, religious, and class barriers. By contrast, the Health Insurance lobby and the Trial Lawyer lobby are both very powerful forces, but their policy positions do not enjoy widespread support. Jews are not the only reason that the US is strongly supportive of Israel.
@JohnRhysMusician "Jews are not the only reason that the US is strongly supportive of Israel." is a rather open ended and confusing statement, with nothing by way of explaination.
@davevak What I am trying to say is that there are other reasons the US supports Israel. Many American Christians feel that the Jews need to be in Israel for the Second Coming to occur. American businesses have large investments in Israel. Americans share the values of the Israelis much more so than the values of the Palestinians. I really don't like the perception that Americans are somehow manipulated by Jews, this is not a correct perception.
@JohnRhysMusician Your use of the term 'Jews', is misleading, a generalisation. The vast majority of Jews are peace loving; it's only a minority, but a minority who happen to wield such massive influence, that gives Jews a bad name.
It's a well known fact, but a fact that isn't discussed publically, that AIPAC dictates US Middle Eastern Policy. The quickest and surest way to commit political suicide for those in office [Capitol Hill] is to oppose AIPAC dictates.
@davevak A broad cross section of American society supports AIPAC. I don't happen to be Jewish, I happen to be a part of the WASP majority, but I am a supporter of AIPAC and its goals in supporting Israel. I cannot stress to you enough that it is not only Jews who are supportive of Israel. Israel has broad near-unified support among the American public. Views of Israel among Americans is strongly positive, of Palestine strongly negative. Netanyahu is basically an American!
@JohnRhysMusician "Views of Israel among Americans is strongly positive, of Palestine strongly negative." Israel itself is fractured, differing and conflicting views; Americans, because the majority have never visited the country and only see what's reported/censored through main stream media outlets, support a zionist cause, without realising, less understanding what they're actually supporting.....
...ask your average American, the majority wouldn't have a clue let alone be able to differentiate between Semitism & Zionism [to them it's probably the same thing]; but still they blindly follow. It's beyond laughable, talk about being led 'round by the nose. For a supposedly educated nation, it's amazing how dumbed down you are...sorry if that sounds insulting.
@davevak Your assessment is flawed. You think that America is the only country with "average" people. Do you think Britain and Germany are only populated by college professors?
@AlvinHDavernport 'Average' might be stretching it a wee bit too far. Americans by nature, as a country, are insular; the majority don't own passports, have never travelled overseas. As a result you've very little understanding of other countries, let alone culture and history; because, content in your own little worlds, the vast majority don't see the point........
.......... Nurtured (brain-washed) from a young age, you're led to believe that to question Govt. or to make a stand that goes against the grain is unpatriotic. Drip fed through main stream media outlets, and undisguised patiotic egoism, and an education system that serves self interest, you are by popular consent 'the most dumbed down nation ever'.
@davevak (2) Also, for a person who wasn't brought up in America, you seem to think you know a lot about how we're "nurtured." To say that we're brainwashed into believing that questioning the government is the most stupid thing I've read in a while. Have you been sleeping for the past four years? Haven't you heard of the Tea Party? Haven't you heard of Occupy Wall Street? Were you even around in the '60s? Good God, champ, that really was a good one.
@AlvinHDavernport (correction for 2) I meant "To say that we're brainwashed into believing that questioning the government is unpatriotic is the most stupid....."
@davevak (3) We are by no means the "most dumbed down nation." Only a stuck-up,self-declared superior European would say that. We lead the world in scientific achievement by far (both by absolute and per capita measures). We count with about half of the world's best universities. We are the third or fourth most productive people on Earth depending on the metric. Quite a number of achievements for a "dumbed-down nation" (which by the way should be hyphenated), don't ya think?
@AlvinHDavernport the only thing you lead the world in is, the amount of misery and suffering you've inflicted in the past 50yrs. A Foreign Policy that's geared towards self engorgement, playing Govts and people off against one other, as long as it suits your interests: economic and international terrorism under the guise of freedom, democracy...helping the afflicted.
You've a media that promotes political agenda and a population that swallows it...Fox News (fair and balanced) for example....
@AlvinHDavernport ...only in America could you get away with the 'crap' that Fox News promotes. Only in America could you get away with a dick named Bill O'Reilly, and the rest of his supporting cast. O'Reilly's anything but a newsman. A guy who's sole purpose is the promotion of the right, the Neo Conservative agenda, which is leading your country further an' further into the depths of darkness.
@AlvinHDavernport... as for the Tea party movment...lmao! You voted in Sarah Palin, who was 2 steps away from becoming President of the United States, in 2008 Presidential Election....a joke that luckly saw it's fruition before the punch line was played out!
Need I say anything about George Bush (Jnr), "the court jester" of world politics; a guy who struggled with simple sentences if it wasn't auto-cued; and he was voted in twice.
@AlvinHDavernport If Palin and Bush are shinning examples of America's elite educated political class, representative of the people, the best that you've to offer, Americans are either extremely dumb or your so called democracy isn't as democratic as it portrays itself to be
@davevak (1) Half of your tirade was dedicated to Fox News. Another one of your wonderful European-favored fallacies: every American watches Fox News. Ratings, on the other hand, show that about 1% of Americans watch Fox News on a regular basis. How about that? But I guess you were madly hoping that I would come in Fox's defense, because after all I am a fat, trailer park–dwelling American ignoramus, ergo I must like Fox, right? Well, sorry to burst your bubble there.
@davevak (2) Regarding the Tea Party, notice I mentioned it as a CLEAR EXAMPLE of government opposition. I wasn't highlighting it as an intellectual movement. Again you show signs of extreme prejudice and hypocrisy: you chastise America for stomping over opposition to the government, and oh, when it so happens that there is VERY strong opposition, now you dismiss it because it's too dumb for your liking!
@davevak (3) And no, neither "I" nor "we" voted for Sarah Palin for anything. And she was at least 8 million steps away from becoming VICE president. I get that you're out of touch and far too ignorant about how the the electoral process transpires, but to be so ignorant AND to pretend that you know about it is something I'd qualify as appalling as disgusting were it not for the fact that I've come to expect it of European self-declared erudites like you.
@AlvinHDavernport lol@"And no, neither "I" nor "we" voted for Sarah Palin for anything. And she was at least8 million steps away from becoming VICE president"
Well fuck me, I guess I was wrong when I thought Republican John McCain had Sarah Palin as his running mate in the 2008-2009 Presidential Election (sacasm).....i.e if he got elected she would have been in the chair as Vice-President
@davevak (4) As for leading the world in anything, well, the mere fact that your counterargument to my statistically and factually testable argument (that we lead the world in several scientific achievement indexes) was a childish "no you're not, you just lead the world in being assholes," well, that only proves how weak the foundations of your anti-American case are. Thank you for proving who the better man here is, and it clearly isn't you.
@davevak (5) Let me just conclude with something: when you're sitting at a table with your other anti-American friends to talk the sort of nonsense that was uttered by people in this video and mob mentality kicks in, you might feel entitled to some sort of notion that you're superior to us. But don't carry that over to your discussions with Americans. Not all of us are pushovers, ignorant enough to say "yes, my Lord, you're right, I'm imperfect and you're not." Stop being such a child.
@davevak (6) And as a post-script, Americans have led the world in private donations, both per capita and as a percentage of GDP, for a while now. Norman Borlaug, a Minnesota scientist, has been credited with saving more than a billion lives from starvation. William Foege practically saved the third world from smallpox. And then there's the Berlin Airlift. Some force of misery and suffering, huh?
@AlvinHDavernport lol..Yank egotism at it's best. You want to try pumping some of those donations back into your own eonomy. With a deficit of over $15 trillion, sending money overseas while your own population suffers, is nothing to shout home about. But then again, come August next year, those that really pull the strings can always raise the debt ceiling 'again', when you fail to meet repayment, and manufacture paper dollars out of thin air.....
@davevak (1) Wow... European hypocrisy at its (not it's. It's means "it is") best. First you accuse us of being a force of misery and suffering, and now it's bad that we donate? Also, $15 trillion in DEBT, not DEFICIT. They're different things. And most European countries are more indebted per capita and as GDP percentage than us. And fiscal policy is independent private charity initiative. And we're not suffering—we're 4th in Human Development according to the UN, far above Germany.
@davevak (2) In short, just shut up. You thought you were going to bluff your way through this debate, passing for an erudite among us barbarian Americans, and you failed miserably. Clearly you overestimate how knowledgeable you are and won't hesitate to display bias and prejudice. I'm done here. I'm tired of your bullshit.
@AlvinHDavernport ha ha...$15trillion in debt..bearly treading water and what do you do, you send trillions overseas (zero return) while your own economy suffers.
Far from being the wealthest nation on earth, you can't afford to pay the mortgage, let alone the household bills.
I guess that's why your AAA credit rating was downgraded to a AA+
@AlvinHDavernport looks like the truth hurts, davevak has been accurate in everything he's said. We do have alot of dumb politicians, Palin and Bush, to mention just two. So by deduction, we've either an extremely "dumbed down' population or as Davevak has mentioned, our democracy's not as democatic as we'd like to think. Personally, I think it's a combination of the two.
As for having the largest economy, you are right, we do have the largest. The problem is our GDP fails to meet our ever growing debt obligations. Over $48,000 for every man/woman/child and over $133,000 per tax payer. So to say and to try and lord the fact that we are the largest provider of financial aid to other countries, when our own economy is in dire straits, is laughable!
@kjean1965 You obviously did not understand my point. That person said that we're nothing but a force of destruction and evil. How can the largest donor be so evil? I didn't make any implications about how sound it is to be the largest donor considering our economic problems. Which, by the way, every country has. The UK owes almost $150,000 per person. Germany $60,000. So don't give me that bullshit.
@kjean1965 (3) So I'm sorry, but I don't appreciate your intruding into the nice ass-spanking session I had with this other guy. Your first response was merely provocative, and your second lacked perspective. If you're going to keep out of your way to defend the indefensible (an anti-American who runs out of arguments and says stupid things like "you only lead the world at spreading misery"), then I'll just choose to ignore any further comments from you. Period.
@kjean1965 And your deduction about dumb politicians was extremely dumb (I think more of a proof of how dumb we allegedly are than the politicians themselves). I guess that to you is more of an empirical proof of intelligence level than any scientific citation index I can present to you, right? It only goes to show what kind of person you are. And again: we never elected Sarah Palin. Her approval rating stands at something like 20%. How's that proof of anything?
@davevak (4) In short, you utterly fail to impress. Your arguments are nothing more than a medley of fallacies and old cliches that only a European who has been indoctrinated to think that he is oh, so superior to Americans, could really believe to be valid. You accuse us of being insular and self-serving, yet your going out of your way to make stupid accusations only serves to show your own underlying bigotry and arrogance. Well done, sir. Well done.
@davevak (1) What a narrow-minded argument, and a perfect example of attribution error. America is insular. Fantastic. Have you noticed how many countries a German has within a thousand miles? Have you compared that to the number of countries the average American has within a thousand miles? (answer: less than 1). And yet Americans travel more than people from any nation except for Britain and Germany, which, again, have a LOT more countries around them.
Yes, we escaped the barbarians - namely, the Brits. They can't get over it. As for our idiot society, lovely pearls, darling. Don't hurt yourself removing the stick from your arse.
@schaferhund11 Oppression's never good, true; whether it be overt, as with Stalin's purges throughout his time in power, or covertly, an example being a steady diet of misinformation through media outlets. Oppression comes in many forms, but it's end goal is maintenance of the status quo in so far as those those that hold real power. Keeping the masses ignorant/dumbed down/towing the line, ignorant to th real underlying current
@schaferhund11 As for post WW2, the two Super Powers that emerged and their conflicting ideologies. The Socialist vs Capitalist or Communism vs Democracy. Both as a theory in the perfect world, a good solution. But as a neutral both have caused immense problems.
@schaferhund11 The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact of '39, a Pact which back fired on them.
Atrocities were committed on both sides of the divide. In battle 'The Geneva Convention, Hague Convention' wasn't always adhered to. Even though The Soviet Union signed up to it's 3rd Convention (Geneva), drafted in 1929, it did not ratify it, which is no excuse for atrocities committed. Germany did though and atrocities committed by them were on a par if not worse.
@schaferhund11 The argument's neither here nor there...a game of what ifs. All I'm saying is by denying/trivialising or minimising the effort of the former Soviet Union, you brush over the deaths of over 23 million Soviets that were killed during that terrible war.
To put it into perspective the US by comparison lost 418,000 (rough est.), a mere 2% of the Soviet dead.
@schaferhund11 I don't think the Russians would have been in a position to win the war. But I do think that they could even have defeated the Nazi invasion of Russia on their own had Hitler concentrated ALL his resources and efforts to that. Mainly because Russia is so bloody huge.
The Germans came extremely close to winning. While England wasn't invaded and kept itself free, we would not have been able to end the war on our own. The fighting would have just gone on and on.
@schaferhund11 In ref. to the Russians I beg to differ, the Germans were already on the retreat by the time the US entered the European Theatre of War in late '43; playing the eminent role in the defeat of Nazi Germany and accounting for 95% of all german casualties from 1941-44 and suffering 65% of all the allied military casualties accumulated throughout the war.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the Allied nations but If any nation deserves our thanks it's the former Soviet Union!
@schaferhund11 Yes, and I repeat what I said. English people who tell you different are also being stupid. Yes, without US help the war wouldn't have been won but there is a difference between that and being 'saved'. Do you think the US would have been able to win had the UK let itself be invaded and defeated.
Most intelligent people in England and America will understand that. It is rather stupid that almost 70 years later some people STILL have to be told.
Hilarious....boring, white toast Brits with their sticks up their arses, their pathetic acceptance of a disfunctional Royal Family, living on their past laurels and embarrassingly desperate to try to matter. Stiff upper lip and petrified brain cells, lol.
@rockyljp If the Royal Family is so pathetic, why did almost two billion people worldwide watch the Royal Wedding in April? And I'm afraid that was much more than the viewing figures for the inauguration of any of your country's Presidents.
Talking about not mattering, well the US is losing it's superpower status more and more every year.
@dezboss Why did nearly 2 billion people watch the "Royal" wedding?.....to see Pippa's arse, of course. No, seriously, because the masses are generally dumb. As to inaugural viewership and the decline of my wonderful country, you are correct so no argument here. Hmmm, we do have Rupert Murdoch controlling our news outlets & that other idiot Simon Cowell controlling our TV and musical influences. Yikes, its you Brits that are bring us down damn it! I beg you...take them back please! (lol)
@rockyljp Yes, I hadn't realised that. The masses are dumb and you're a super intellectual. As long as you realise what a fucking idiot you sound like, then ok.
And Rupert Murdoch is Australian, but then I don't suppose you even know where Australia is.
@dezboss So then take Cowell back jackass. Then again, Murdoch is of English ancestry and blood and so deeply seeded in the corrupt UK media, you should take him back too.
For what it is worth, I indeed know where Australia is. I am not "your" typical American stereotype, but of European ancestry & well travelled. I reject birth rights & oppressive class systems which have no place in the modern world. Before bashing America, the UK should take a long, hard look in the mirror..
@rockyljp It's not up to me you fucking moron. It's up to whoever is willing to pay Cowell to work in the US and up to Cowell himself. Are you actually too stupid to understand that?
Where is the argument in that? Hillary Clinton has English ancestry, so has Obama and in fact George Washington was the great grandson of an English squire. Should we take all them back too?
@rockyljp Coming from someone who just asked me to take Cowell and Rupert Murdoch (whom I repeat, isn't even an Englishman) back to the UK, I don't really think you're in a position to be calling anyone dim witted.
These pompous snobs. Thank GOD I wasn't born in the UK. Dreary weather, muslims taking over large areas, knife stabbings, binge drinkers that puke and urinate all over the streets, yobs, chavs that beat up on old people, throwing bricks into the faces of children. Horrible place. I also find their obsession with Americans creepy and borderline pathological.
And I find that really silly rant the mark of someone who didn't have much of a good education. To speak such rubbish doesn't make you REMOTELY better than these people you claim to hate so much.
@schaferhund11 Erm, why don't you think before you speak?
Most British people ARE aware of how Americans helped them in BOTH world wars, any reading of Churchill's speeches will confirm that. What we don't like is idiot Americans who think they not only won the war alone but SAVED the British, as that is insulting the memories of the brave soldiers, sailors and pilots who fought and died to keep us free from Nazi invasion in 1940.
@TheMarley1603 We've got ancient architeture, too, y'know. We've got old Viking ruins up in New England and there are dozens of ancient ruins left by the mound-building Mississippi culture and by the Pueblo culture. To say nothing of the old forts built by Spain and France.
where do you get this bullshit about people dying from no health care? that's BBC propaganda. we will never have sharia law because we don't have many muslims here and we will never be invaded for we have more armed civilans than any nation on earth. more than 150 million firearms are in the hands of americans this includes assult weapons, pistols, rifles and shotguns. so bring it on bitch!
I've said before and I'll say it again. I really do find it pathetic that the Americans who leave comments on this video say nothing REMOTELY intelligent, all you guys are doing is behaving like recently pole-axed bulls and overgrown babies. Are you all THAT insecure that none of you can take the slightest criticism? And then at the end of your comments say you don't care because you're the greatest anyway?
If you were so sure of yourselves, you'd just rise above it and grow up.
where in my posting did I state that I liked war? You must be stupid? because I never mentioned war or iraq in any of my postings so this is a very unintelligent thing for you to do. lol maybe your not in present time? look I just like to aggravate degenerates like you this is why I come on these threads in the first place. I think your one miserable fuck and you can spend your time more productively not hating or judging people for policies they have zero control/influence over.
@mtross70 Erm, I NEVER said you liked war you fucking idiot. Where did I say that?
No you don't, you're like any overexcited idiot who just wants to scream at the top of your voice because you aren't that popular. If you really did feel confident about this you would just rise above it.
For the record, I feel that the people in this video are going over the top. But the point is, it's just people harmlessly expressing their opinions (and some truth) and you just can't take it.
im not jealous of a bunch of lower class brits who lick the boots of blue bloods. all you did was enslave alot of people and murder them. it didn't work here(USA) because we stomped your asses good. everything you have comes from rome and greece, you where nothing but barbarians without the romans enslaving you and civilizing you. with out your supression, elitism, taxation and murder of our citizens we wouldn't be the USA so God bless America and go fuck your queen
france is a joke i expect cowardice from the french. you did rule 3/4 with emphasis on "did" now you have mud people rioting in your streets and sharia law is on it's way. you gave up once because we beat you then you came back again (1812) and we routed you again you didn't leave you people surrendered. meanwhile the british crown murdered colonists(woman.children) and payed indians to murder settlers and their families by the thousands on our western frontier(ohio river valley)
France is a joke is it? Well, as I remember you guys were so hurt by the fact the France refused to join the Iraq War that you actually changed 'French Fries' to 'Freedom Fries'. It really makes me laugh, you people are THAT pathetic. You really, really did makes yourselves look so stupid doing that. It speaks for itself.
P.S. If the French are such cowards, I take it nobody bothered to tell you that they helped you gain your independence?
the freedom fries was attributed to 1 news organization not the whole damn country you fucking moron. i like how you make sweeping remarks about a whole country based on that stupid stunt pulled by fox news . this makes you pathetic.
@mtross70 Like I said, I wasn't expecting an intelligent reply. Did you have much of an education?
On March 11, 2003 Representatives Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) declared that all references to French fries and French toast on the menus of the restaurants and snack bars run by the House of Representatives would be removed. House cafeterias were ordered to rename French fries "freedom fries".
All because France didn't do what you guys demanded. LOL!!!
I have a doctorate / bachelor degrees and own a business that's profitable. The truth is you want to be like these elitists in the thread but you aren't in their social class so you spend most of your time on your knees sucking the big a BBC dork and believing all of their anti-american bullshit. the 2 representives you talk about are no longer in office so can we move on asshole? you are one miserable person trolling anti-american threads and probably recieving government assistance .

Verderer 3 days ago
You want an example of American arrogance and sheer audacity? Then consider the iniquity of the very lop sided Extradition Treaty between the UK and the USA whereby citizens of one country being accused of committing a crime in the other, vis a vis the US and the UK. The Americans have the gall to insist that all Britons accused by the Americans of committing a crime against the interests of the US even if committed in the UK be extradited forthwith to the US for trial, no ifs and buts!
Verderer 3 days ago
It really is true that Americans who can legitimately claim to be of British ancestry are now very much a small minority in the USA...do not confuse British with European...a fair number of Americans are of European ancestry with no British connections at all. Anyway, it now appears that Americans of white European ancestry will be in an overall minority in the USA by 2050 with non-white Americans outnumbering them across the board....fastest growing group will be those of Latin American origin.
Verderer 3 days ago
@quidseeker Only a small minority of Americans can legitimiately claim to be of British origin - the great majority have absolutely no direct links with GB at all, so they have no affiliation whatsoever. The British have quite good reason to feel at least some antipathy towards the USA - not towards its people generally but towards its Government(s) & American officialdom which they see as extremely arrogant, self seeking & incredibly domineering...eg: the unfair UK/US Extradition Treaty - crazy!
Verderer 5 days ago
@Verderer This is a rediculous claim. Americans whom are ethnically Anglo-Saxon make up most of the country. We were a colony of Great Britain in the first place, that's to be expected.
TakumProti 5 days ago
Of course many of us are guilty of misconceptions based on stereotypical impressions of a country of which we have little knowledge apart from what we see on TV, read in the press or in other sources, & to which we have never personally been, but I do base a lot of my comments on which I have heard from Americans themselves who either live in the UK or merely visiting my country. Almost all of them wished they had the equivalent of the UK NHS service - we do have access to private healthcare too!
Verderer 5 days ago

Gavestonful 1 month ago
@Gavestonful Contrary to what you've been taught or told about our healthcare system, no person can be nor is denied treatment for any reason. It's federal law. I wish you and others on the European continent would understand this. Who has pounded this into you? The BBC or some other outlet? It's phenominal to me that you still believe this. How exactly is our judicial system a disgrace? Your court released the Lockerbie bomber in exchange for an oil deal. THAT'S disgraceful.
tripleheshy 4 weeks ago
I don't think that, generally speaking, the British have any real issues with the American PEOPLE as such (except for those rather obnoxiously loud and arrogant and incredibly ignorant US tourists we encounter in the UK). Some individual Americans are really nice and friendly. I think we must talk about US Governments and bizarre US Presidents and the arrogant attitude towards other countries, their foreign policy, their claims to "empire", double standards and lack of international respect.
Gavestonful 1 month ago
@Gavestonful While you're evidently a sensible and intelligent person, I can see your idea of what America is and what Americans are like is still marred with misconceptions and unfair stereotypes. You've touched on a number of topics and I can't address them all (what with the character limit), but I'm sure you would have a very different opinion if you came here.
AlvinHDavernport 3 weeks ago
@Gavestonful This is one big problem that I have with many of these silly claims. Many of you Europeans say that you have a problem with our foreign policy yet you never elaborate as to what specifically you have a problem with. And our claims to "empire"? Last I checked, you were the only ones calling us an "empire" in the first place.

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country I couldnt find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."

To be honest, I really don't give a F*CK about another countries politics, nor does anyone I know. These people obviously have a major chip on their shoulder which is extremely pathetic! @ClintDykes and that there is the problem with the American people 'in a nutshell'...ref. 'To be honest, I really don't give a F*CK about another countries politics, nor does anyone I know.'

@ClintDykes so because british people talk about other countries America included we have the problem. It would have been more beneficial if America as a nation had died in it's infancy back in the late 1700, early 1800's. It has done more damage and brought more strife, pain and suffering in these last 50 years than any nation has since recorded time.
That's speaking as an American myself.
tevitarosa 3 months ago
@tevitarosa Yes, that should've happened and thus the world wouldn't have the PC, the microprocesser, the transistor, the CD, the electronic spreadsheet, etc. And the European Empires wouldn't have had an emerging nation to resist them in their acts of Imperialism, something that the U.S. spent much of the 1800's doing, same with the Soviets. And what about the Soviet-Afghan War that claimed close to 2 million lives, or the Russian-Georgian War in 2008, Mexico's Drug War, or the Holocaust?

As an American of British ancestry, it is mighty funny that Americans are actually better educated than Brits (more likely to graduate high school and college). America has always been civilized. Also, I'd like to remind everyone that George W. Bush is a highly educated man having gone to Andover, Yale, and Harvard.
JohnRhysMusician 4 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician lol@"George W. Bush is a highly educated man having gone to Andover, Yale, and Harvard."
I think you've just about summed it up, in one sentence: the sad state of education in the US....lol
davevak 4 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician George W. Bush was a bumbling baffoon and for him to be elected is a reflection of the american populus as a whole, dumbed down, uneducated, politically naive and ignorant....George W. Bush typifies to the outside world the image of the 'stereotypical dumb American'.

@JohnRhysMusician If George W. Bush is an example of a highly intelligent and educated American, I feel sorry for the rest of the country.

@davevak I am not and was not President Bush's biggest fan but if you think he was stupid, ignorant, or naive, you sir are the one that is naive.
I also hope the Brits are aware that the Bushs' as a family are the epitome of WASP-dom.
JohnRhysMusician 4 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician WASP-dom!?
davevak 4 months ago
@davevak White Anglo Saxon Protestant. WASPdom, a.k.a the WASP establishment. Historically the most influential ethnic group in the USA.
JohnRhysMusician 4 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician I don't know any facts when it comes to White Anglo Saxon Protestants, in the US. They might be the dominant group when it comes to numbers, but in sofar as influence, I beg to differ. The ethnic group that most influence within your country, far from being the largest, are the Jews.
davevak 4 months ago
@davevak The U.S. was the largest Jewish country in the world until around the 1990s, but still out of 44 American presidents, 42 have been White Anglo Saxon Protestants. I'm beginning to realize that there is a lot of anti-semitism on the internet. Maybe the perception is that because the US is so strongly supportive of Israel that means that Jews are highly influential, but the reality is that US-Israel policy enjoys broad support, especially among Evangelical Christians and Republicans.
JohnRhysMusician 4 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician true, there is alot of anti-semitism out there, because this is a public forum, people with differing opinions will always clash, bigotry comes in many forms. We're all in one way or another guilty of it (I'll hold my hand up).
But perception and reality are the same thing when it comes to policy and Jewish influence, especially when it comes to US Foreign Policy.
davevak 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician (1)
The Israeli government is placed on a pedestal [in the US], and to criticize it is to be immediately dubbed anti-Semitic. People are scared in the US, to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful -- very powerful.
davevak 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician (2)

An anti-zionist and anti-semitist are two different things, I'm against the Israeli Zionist agenda.
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak The Jewish lobby is very powerful, but what many foreigners fail to understand is that US-Israel policy enjoys widespread domestic support, across ideologies, parties, racial, religious, and class barriers. By contrast, the Health Insurance lobby and the Trial Lawyer lobby are both very powerful forces, but their policy positions do not enjoy widespread support. Jews are not the only reason that the US is strongly supportive of Israel.
JohnRhysMusician 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician "Jews are not the only reason that the US is strongly supportive of Israel." is a rather open ended and confusing statement, with nothing by way of explaination.
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak What I am trying to say is that there are other reasons the US supports Israel. Many American Christians feel that the Jews need to be in Israel for the Second Coming to occur. American businesses have large investments in Israel. Americans share the values of the Israelis much more so than the values of the Palestinians. I really don't like the perception that Americans are somehow manipulated by Jews, this is not a correct perception.
JohnRhysMusician 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician Your use of the term 'Jews', is misleading, a generalisation. The vast majority of Jews are peace loving; it's only a minority, but a minority who happen to wield such massive influence, that gives Jews a bad name.
It's a well known fact, but a fact that isn't discussed publically, that AIPAC dictates US Middle Eastern Policy. The quickest and surest way to commit political suicide for those in office [Capitol Hill] is to oppose AIPAC dictates.
davevak 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician *AIPAC + The Israeli Lobby in general, dictates alot of US Middle Eastern Policy*
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak A broad cross section of American society supports AIPAC. I don't happen to be Jewish, I happen to be a part of the WASP majority, but I am a supporter of AIPAC and its goals in supporting Israel. I cannot stress to you enough that it is not only Jews who are supportive of Israel. Israel has broad near-unified support among the American public. Views of Israel among Americans is strongly positive, of Palestine strongly negative. Netanyahu is basically an American!
JohnRhysMusician 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician "Views of Israel among Americans is strongly positive, of Palestine strongly negative." Israel itself is fractured, differing and conflicting views; Americans, because the majority have never visited the country and only see what's reported/censored through main stream media outlets, support a zionist cause, without realising, less understanding what they're actually supporting.....
davevak 3 months ago
@JohnRhysMusician (1)
...ask your average American, the majority wouldn't have a clue let alone be able to differentiate between Semitism & Zionism [to them it's probably the same thing]; but still they blindly follow. It's beyond laughable, talk about being led 'round by the nose. For a supposedly educated nation, it's amazing how dumbed down you are...sorry if that sounds insulting.
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak Your assessment is flawed. You think that America is the only country with "average" people. Do you think Britain and Germany are only populated by college professors?
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport 'Average' might be stretching it a wee bit too far. Americans by nature, as a country, are insular; the majority don't own passports, have never travelled overseas. As a result you've very little understanding of other countries, let alone culture and history; because, content in your own little worlds, the vast majority don't see the point........
davevak 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport (1)
.......... Nurtured (brain-washed) from a young age, you're led to believe that to question Govt. or to make a stand that goes against the grain is unpatriotic. Drip fed through main stream media outlets, and undisguised patiotic egoism, and an education system that serves self interest, you are by popular consent 'the most dumbed down nation ever'.
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak (2) Also, for a person who wasn't brought up in America, you seem to think you know a lot about how we're "nurtured." To say that we're brainwashed into believing that questioning the government is the most stupid thing I've read in a while. Have you been sleeping for the past four years? Haven't you heard of the Tea Party? Haven't you heard of Occupy Wall Street? Were you even around in the '60s? Good God, champ, that really was a good one.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport (correction for 2) I meant "To say that we're brainwashed into believing that questioning the government is unpatriotic is the most stupid....."
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (3) We are by no means the "most dumbed down nation." Only a stuck-up,self-declared superior European would say that. We lead the world in scientific achievement by far (both by absolute and per capita measures). We count with about half of the world's best universities. We are the third or fourth most productive people on Earth depending on the metric. Quite a number of achievements for a "dumbed-down nation" (which by the way should be hyphenated), don't ya think?
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport the only thing you lead the world in is, the amount of misery and suffering you've inflicted in the past 50yrs. A Foreign Policy that's geared towards self engorgement, playing Govts and people off against one other, as long as it suits your interests: economic and international terrorism under the guise of freedom, democracy...helping the afflicted.
You've a media that promotes political agenda and a population that swallows it...Fox News (fair and balanced) for example....
davevak 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport ...only in America could you get away with the 'crap' that Fox News promotes. Only in America could you get away with a dick named Bill O'Reilly, and the rest of his supporting cast. O'Reilly's anything but a newsman. A guy who's sole purpose is the promotion of the right, the Neo Conservative agenda, which is leading your country further an' further into the depths of darkness.
davevak 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport... as for the Tea party movment...lmao! You voted in Sarah Palin, who was 2 steps away from becoming President of the United States, in 2008 Presidential Election....a joke that luckly saw it's fruition before the punch line was played out!
Need I say anything about George Bush (Jnr), "the court jester" of world politics; a guy who struggled with simple sentences if it wasn't auto-cued; and he was voted in twice.
"A dumbed down population", I rest my case!

@AlvinHDavernport If Palin and Bush are shinning examples of America's elite educated political class, representative of the people, the best that you've to offer, Americans are either extremely dumb or your so called democracy isn't as democratic as it portrays itself to be
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak (1) Half of your tirade was dedicated to Fox News. Another one of your wonderful European-favored fallacies: every American watches Fox News. Ratings, on the other hand, show that about 1% of Americans watch Fox News on a regular basis. How about that? But I guess you were madly hoping that I would come in Fox's defense, because after all I am a fat, trailer park–dwelling American ignoramus, ergo I must like Fox, right? Well, sorry to burst your bubble there.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (2) Regarding the Tea Party, notice I mentioned it as a CLEAR EXAMPLE of government opposition. I wasn't highlighting it as an intellectual movement. Again you show signs of extreme prejudice and hypocrisy: you chastise America for stomping over opposition to the government, and oh, when it so happens that there is VERY strong opposition, now you dismiss it because it's too dumb for your liking!
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (3) And no, neither "I" nor "we" voted for Sarah Palin for anything. And she was at least 8 million steps away from becoming VICE president. I get that you're out of touch and far too ignorant about how the the electoral process transpires, but to be so ignorant AND to pretend that you know about it is something I'd qualify as appalling as disgusting were it not for the fact that I've come to expect it of European self-declared erudites like you.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport lol@"And no, neither "I" nor "we" voted for Sarah Palin for anything. And she was at least8 million steps away from becoming VICE president"
Well fuck me, I guess I was wrong when I thought Republican John McCain had Sarah Palin as his running mate in the 2008-2009 Presidential Election (sacasm).....i.e if he got elected she would have been in the chair as Vice-President
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak (4) As for leading the world in anything, well, the mere fact that your counterargument to my statistically and factually testable argument (that we lead the world in several scientific achievement indexes) was a childish "no you're not, you just lead the world in being assholes," well, that only proves how weak the foundations of your anti-American case are. Thank you for proving who the better man here is, and it clearly isn't you.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (5) Let me just conclude with something: when you're sitting at a table with your other anti-American friends to talk the sort of nonsense that was uttered by people in this video and mob mentality kicks in, you might feel entitled to some sort of notion that you're superior to us. But don't carry that over to your discussions with Americans. Not all of us are pushovers, ignorant enough to say "yes, my Lord, you're right, I'm imperfect and you're not." Stop being such a child.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (6) And as a post-script, Americans have led the world in private donations, both per capita and as a percentage of GDP, for a while now. Norman Borlaug, a Minnesota scientist, has been credited with saving more than a billion lives from starvation. William Foege practically saved the third world from smallpox. And then there's the Berlin Airlift. Some force of misery and suffering, huh?
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport lol..Yank egotism at it's best. You want to try pumping some of those donations back into your own eonomy. With a deficit of over $15 trillion, sending money overseas while your own population suffers, is nothing to shout home about. But then again, come August next year, those that really pull the strings can always raise the debt ceiling 'again', when you fail to meet repayment, and manufacture paper dollars out of thin air.....
davevak 3 months ago
@davevak (1) Wow... European hypocrisy at its (not it's. It's means "it is") best. First you accuse us of being a force of misery and suffering, and now it's bad that we donate? Also, $15 trillion in DEBT, not DEFICIT. They're different things. And most European countries are more indebted per capita and as GDP percentage than us. And fiscal policy is independent private charity initiative. And we're not suffering—we're 4th in Human Development according to the UN, far above Germany.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago

I guess that's why your AAA credit rating was downgraded to a AA+
davevak 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport looks like the truth hurts, davevak has been accurate in everything he's said. We do have alot of dumb politicians, Palin and Bush, to mention just two. So by deduction, we've either an extremely "dumbed down' population or as Davevak has mentioned, our democracy's not as democatic as we'd like to think. Personally, I think it's a combination of the two.
kjean1965 3 months ago
@AlvinHDavernport (1)
As for having the largest economy, you are right, we do have the largest. The problem is our GDP fails to meet our ever growing debt obligations. Over $48,000 for every man/woman/child and over $133,000 per tax payer. So to say and to try and lord the fact that we are the largest provider of financial aid to other countries, when our own economy is in dire straits, is laughable!
kjean1965 3 months ago
@kjean1965 You obviously did not understand my point. That person said that we're nothing but a force of destruction and evil. How can the largest donor be so evil? I didn't make any implications about how sound it is to be the largest donor considering our economic problems. Which, by the way, every country has. The UK owes almost $150,000 per person. Germany $60,000. So don't give me that bullshit.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago

Well done.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
@davevak (1) What a narrow-minded argument, and a perfect example of attribution error. America is insular. Fantastic. Have you noticed how many countries a German has within a thousand miles? Have you compared that to the number of countries the average American has within a thousand miles? (answer: less than 1). And yet Americans travel more than people from any nation except for Britain and Germany, which, again, have a LOT more countries around them.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
Yes, we escaped the barbarians - namely, the Brits. They can't get over it. As for our idiot society, lovely pearls, darling. Don't hurt yourself removing the stick from your arse.

@schaferhund11 Oppression's never good, true; whether it be overt, as with Stalin's purges throughout his time in power, or covertly, an example being a steady diet of misinformation through media outlets. Oppression comes in many forms, but it's end goal is maintenance of the status quo in so far as those those that hold real power. Keeping the masses ignorant/dumbed down/towing the line, ignorant to th real underlying current
davevak 4 months ago
@schaferhund11 (1)
Oppression is oppression, in one form or another we're all 'slaves to the state'.
Hitler and Stalin were just more direct in their approach!
davevak 4 months ago

airsoftohioteam 4 months ago 2
@schaferhund11 As for post WW2, the two Super Powers that emerged and their conflicting ideologies. The Socialist vs Capitalist or Communism vs Democracy. Both as a theory in the perfect world, a good solution. But as a neutral both have caused immense problems.
davevak 4 months ago
@schaferhund11 The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact of '39, a Pact which back fired on them.
Atrocities were committed on both sides of the divide. In battle 'The Geneva Convention, Hague Convention' wasn't always adhered to. Even though The Soviet Union signed up to it's 3rd Convention (Geneva), drafted in 1929, it did not ratify it, which is no excuse for atrocities committed. Germany did though and atrocities committed by them were on a par if not worse.
davevak 4 months ago
@schaferhund11 The argument's neither here nor there...a game of what ifs. All I'm saying is by denying/trivialising or minimising the effort of the former Soviet Union, you brush over the deaths of over 23 million Soviets that were killed during that terrible war.
To put it into perspective the US by comparison lost 418,000 (rough est.), a mere 2% of the Soviet dead.
davevak 4 months ago
@schaferhund11 I don't think the Russians would have been in a position to win the war. But I do think that they could even have defeated the Nazi invasion of Russia on their own had Hitler concentrated ALL his resources and efforts to that. Mainly because Russia is so bloody huge.
The Germans came extremely close to winning. While England wasn't invaded and kept itself free, we would not have been able to end the war on our own. The fighting would have just gone on and on.
dezboss 4 months ago
@schaferhund11 In ref. to the Russians I beg to differ, the Germans were already on the retreat by the time the US entered the European Theatre of War in late '43; playing the eminent role in the defeat of Nazi Germany and accounting for 95% of all german casualties from 1941-44 and suffering 65% of all the allied military casualties accumulated throughout the war.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the Allied nations but If any nation deserves our thanks it's the former Soviet Union!
davevak 4 months ago

Stiff upper lip and petrified brain cells, lol.
rockyljp 4 months ago
@rockyljp If the Royal Family is so pathetic, why did almost two billion people worldwide watch the Royal Wedding in April? And I'm afraid that was much more than the viewing figures for the inauguration of any of your country's Presidents.
Talking about not mattering, well the US is losing it's superpower status more and more every year.
But then I suppose you know better.
dezboss 4 months ago
@dezboss Why did nearly 2 billion people watch the "Royal" wedding?.....to see Pippa's arse, of course. No, seriously, because the masses are generally dumb. As to inaugural viewership and the decline of my wonderful country, you are correct so no argument here. Hmmm, we do have Rupert Murdoch controlling our news outlets & that other idiot Simon Cowell controlling our TV and musical influences. Yikes, its you Brits that are bring us down damn it! I beg you...take them back please! (lol)
rockyljp 4 months ago
@rockyljp Yes, I hadn't realised that. The masses are dumb and you're a super intellectual. As long as you realise what a fucking idiot you sound like, then ok.
And Rupert Murdoch is Australian, but then I don't suppose you even know where Australia is.
dezboss 4 months ago
@dezboss So then take Cowell back jackass. Then again, Murdoch is of English ancestry and blood and so deeply seeded in the corrupt UK media, you should take him back too.
For what it is worth, I indeed know where Australia is. I am not "your" typical American stereotype, but of European ancestry & well travelled. I reject birth rights & oppressive class systems which have no place in the modern world. Before bashing America, the UK should take a long, hard look in the mirror..
rockyljp 4 months ago
@rockyljp It's not up to me you fucking moron. It's up to whoever is willing to pay Cowell to work in the US and up to Cowell himself. Are you actually too stupid to understand that?
Where is the argument in that? Hillary Clinton has English ancestry, so has Obama and in fact George Washington was the great grandson of an English squire. Should we take all them back too?
I bet you haven't been beyond your own state.

@dezboss ROFLMAO, come on dezboss, you cannot possibly be so dim witted. Or can you?

What we don't like is idiot Americans who think they not only won the war alone but SAVED the British, as that is insulting the memories of the brave soldiers, sailors and pilots who fought and died to keep us free from Nazi invasion in 1940.
Any idiot will tell you that, there is a line.
