Whilst I'm certainly not criticising your playing, I would honestly consider changing the angle of your snare if you play trad grip. The way it's positioned now makes the stick bounce in a very awkward way that does not line up with the natural bounce. If you changed the angle to the way it should naturally be, your grooves would flow easier, your technique be smoother and moving around the kit quicker and flow more naturally. You have to make minor readjustments EVERY SINGLE TIME. IMO. Cool.
I agree with our frienf Stanon Drums. Its missing some notes on the bass drum ,sbare and in the toms for complete the Bar. You listen to the original Molasses Run Realy?. Because ive been played this groove for years to practicing and its nothing near from the original groove..i advise you to hear again and again..good work!
its not correct - i played that if i was 11 or something - well the groove is not correct i recognize it!!! hehehehehe!!! after the first tom hit, theres one more sixteenthnote on the bassdrum and the rest of is not correct also. sorry. sooryy
Thats a nice imitation of the pattern he used on the Weather Report Procession record, if you like Omars playing there are some really burning tracks from his work with John Scofield and also another Weather Report record called Domino Theory (killer grooves)
Awesome! You not only cleared up where this groove originated but you play a cool variation as well. Thanks for the response post. (I wasn't sure where this song came from since I only heard it on tape--just knew it was Omar) I'm going to play around with your variation now. Maybe I'll post it.
