hillbilly jim was a man of the people. he would give you the shirt off his back....but not his overalls. if you asked for his overalls those would be fightin words. he was also known to really clean a chicken bone well.
Question for you WWE fans: You know it's fake and still like it, why? I'm being serious and not snobbish. I mean we all know movies are fake and everyone loves them, theater has its own fans too...but wrestling, it seems ridiculous to be entertained by Fake fighting. Am I wrong?
@silverberetta17 your a fuckin idiot! you answered your own question!! like you said, movies are fake to! so does that mean if you see a fight scene in a movie, you get up and walk out? im sure theres alot of things that entertain you, that wouldnt entetain me!! show tunes, and gay orgies for example! but i dont go looking for them either! so why did you click on a wrestling video,if you hate wrestling?
It would have been a bit more believable if "Jim", who didn't seem to know what he was doing hadn't put Heenan in a Full Nelson as soon as he came into the ring.....
The do exaggerated wrestler's heights by a couple inches. You are wrong about Andre though. He was billed at 7'6" and was actually 7'4". He was not 6'10". I think anyone could tell that by just looking at him.
@eward41 Most of the more trusted reports I've heard said Andre was a solid 6'11". That seems about right to me. Anything over 7' is completely out of the question.
@graph180 You may get "saddled" with an angle... but it's strictly up to the guy to break out and make a name for himself. Steve Austin was saddled with the Ringmaster gimmick...
Yeah but no one in the history of Pro Wrestling has ever been able to "break out" from underneath the dreaded kiss of death that is the "World's Strongest Man" gimmick.
Hillbilly Jim and Hogan was 2 of those big rubber Wrestling figures that was packaged together back around 84 or 85, back in these years you found some really neat Wrestling items from the WWF just in Wal-Mart alone, now a days you cheaply made products for just about anything.
LOL where Vince is saying that Hogan is getting double teamed, even though Rivera had just jumped on top of Studd. I guess jobbers don't count as actual help...
Great example of how anyone could get over if they were associated with Hogan in that era. Don't get me wrong, Hillbilly Jim seems like a nice guy but his wrestling skills and interview skills are far from main event calibur. Simply being associated with Hogan led to a career in WWE that lasted for years.
@Rayla840 - I agree. My comment was not really meant to diss Hillbilly Jim but more to put over how unbelievably popular Hogan was at the time. No disrespect to the big hillbilly was intended.
You mean you don't like all the retards who come out to rap music and have no themes other than steroid use? Wrestling died about the time the Rock and Stone Cold hit the scene. Too bad.
I remember the stretch of time when this mysterious giant hillbilly was sitting in the front row at matches on TV, supposedly just an audience member even though the announcers would call attention to him and sometimes wrestlers would pretend to threaten him.
yeah i was nine watching the weeks leading up to this and even then i wondered how he could afford to travel around to each venue every week. That would cost a lot to a poor ole country bumpkin from mudlick kentucky!
The WWF had a tried and true way to portray a wrestler as either good or bad. Save the Hulk and you were regarded as good. Beat up on either Heenan or fued with Piper and you were regarded as bad.
Jim Okerlund never turned on him and they were tag partners. Brutus Beefcake didn't turn on him in WWF, though he did in WCW as the Butcher, Zodiac, and Disciple. Sting never turned on him. On the contrary, he turned on Sting.
Nothing teaches fans to stay behind the guard rail like showing one of their own jump over it and become a full fledged wrestler. I wonder if they had more fan run-ins after this.
Heh, it was challenging to think of anyone besides Okerlund. If you add his WCW stint it becomes harder. For an even greater challenge, try to think of a tag partner of Sting's that hasn't turned on him.
would rufus ever turn on billy ray? would he ever tell miley to stop with the hannah montana name? the answer is no so why would rufus cyrus ever turn on the terry bollea?
@Lfdjake91 Just think the WWE missed the boat on THAT one! They could of had the BIG EPIC MAIN EVENT MATCH ~HULK HOGAN VS HILLBILLY JIM~ at a WRESTLE MANIA.Think of the HUGE amount of buyrates for THAT one!

I think Andre due to that disease he had got taller over the years. But yeah they always inflate the weight and height on wrestlers most of the time, like Rey Mysterio they use to book him at 180 and like 5'9 and I bet he barely reaches over 5 foot tall and I doubt he weighs anything over 150.
@AdoribleAdrian Hogan wore cowboy boots with three inch heels sometimes in those days -not during real matches but in interviews and when making public appearances...Andre was in fact 7 feet on the nose...Hogan was 6-8 with heels.
@AdoribleAdrian - You're waaay off! Big John Studd WAS indeed 6'10"and Andre was definitely 7'4'! By the mid-eighties, Andre was so huge that he couldn't stand up straight any longer, so he appeared to be shorter than he was.
For future reference, King Kong Bundy was 6'5", OMG was 6'9" and Hogan was LEGITAMATELY 6'8" until he stopped using steroids in 1991. By 1993 he was about 6'5"and 1/2. Please get your facts straight before you post comments as rumors like this are extremely annoying!
@MrJon76 They are not rumors - it is just people posting what they "think" is correct. If you are right and they are wrong then fine but everyone has a right to post what they think
@gfunkenterprises - I'm just trying to get to the FACTS. When some people read things online, they take it as gospel. This Is how "rumors" or urban legends, if you will, get started! That rumor always irked me because the two clearly have different physiques! They even teamed together in World Class and at the 1990 Survivor Series! Ugh!
@iownyourcornershop - Where do you guys get your information? OMG was 6' 9' and weighed 468 lbs! Hogan in the '80s was 6' 8'. John Studd was 6' 10', Hillbilly Jim was 6' 7', Andre was 7' 4' and Bundy was 6' 5' and weighed 458 lbs. I know the WWF has lied about a lot of things, but wrestler's physical proportions? C'mon! I KNOW that these heights were accurate because I've seen these guys in person! Granted Hogan is now about 6' 5' 1/2 because he stopped using in late '91, but let's get real!
@AdoribleAdrian Yeah at WM II Studd stood toe-to-toe with 6'5" Bill Fralic and he was maybe 1/2" taller at most. Most wrestler's heights were greatly exaggerated. Adrian's numbers match up with what I've heard from other sources.
@robertmilvae . Hogan wore cowboy boots with three inch heels sometimes in those days -not during real matches but in interviews and when making public appearances...Andre was in fact 7 feet on the nose...Hogan was 6-8 with heels...
