  • Im assuming 1998, but it probably wasn't fully built. Id don't think it is now

  • @FF35Pilot Chep Lap Kok Airport ( VHHH ) is opened at 1999

  • is it true that CPA used to line up to the left of the localizer, to allow earlier turns and more 'room for error' on short final?

  • Cathay Pacific Airline Do STEAL your Valuable stuffs . Do NEVER LEAVE YOUR VALUABLE STUFFS IN THE CHECHED IN LUGGAGE. THEY DO STEAL THEM.

  • @Huannt58 They already stole your brains

  • kai tak is closed in 2000!

  • @Cathaydude June 6, 1998

  • @FF35Pilot when did the new airport in Chep Lap Kok start?

  • WTF? thats a bad crosswind. u dont do a crosswind and still do it on the floor and hurry and turn. thats how crashes happens.when your about 6 feet off the floor turn to the runway and then land. not reccommended to do that!

  • u needed an extra license to land on kai tak :O

  • It really sucks that they closed that airport... i would have love to fly there! 5/5 stars...

  • How about a little rudder to kick it straight on touchdown?

  • i would hate to land there

  • Wow, that was one of the best landings that I've seen at Kai Tak!

  • beautiful video...great vantage point.....

  • Mi tin gana di sa kwa piloto yu di korsou a yega di baha un avion na kai tak airport na hong kong, lagami sa por fabor

  • I really feel for those people living near big international airports. It seems that rest is a precious thing for them with all the constant air traffic noise.

  • just what was about to say!

  • Sad people!!!!!

  • if youre so cool, how did you wind up here?

  • Cool videos!

I see that your into airplans

    COOL:)

  • wah so danger!

  • The pilots made that final 47 degree turn look ever so simple in that crosswind!

Nice approach. Always did love the Kai Tak checkerboard approach.

  • Bet those passengers were feeling a little woozy when they got off the plane.

  • it's a cargo plane

  • Comment removed

  • I don't believe it is.

Listen for 'Cathay 511, cleared to land'.

Cathay 511 was a pax flight Fukouka to Hong Kong. HK tower never cleared anything to land before the previous one had cleared the runway, unlike some places in the world.

The plane's titles do not say 'Cathay Pacific Cargo' which the cargo planes have.

And there was a full set of upper deck windows which the cargo planes do not have. It is a 747-200, btw.

  • this 747-200 is currently a 747-200BCF boeing converted freighter cathay converted all of their 747-200 in to freighters

  • Sorry to disagree again. I worked for the airline for 25yrs until recently!

Cathay only converted one -200 pax plane to a freighter (B-HIH). All the other -200 freighters were built as freighters and delivered as such (B-HVX/HVY/HVZ).

All, including HIH after its conversion, only have 3 or 4 upperdeck windows.

Cathay also acquired 3 converted -200 freighters from Air Hong Kong after taking over that airline. but that was long after Kai Tak closed.

  • yeah a CP 747-400ERF

  • The -400ERFs only arrived in Cathay quite recently.

Kai Tak closed over 10years ago.

  • @goccioloni Cargo Plane??? 1:07 It's said "Cathay Pacific", not "Cathay Pacific Cargo" ^v^
