A great memory guys the shack is gone (tks to the fun police) . I am the person (Ash) who retrieved the fish for Neil. The fish was 20kgs I landed one two months later at the same weight and then 8ks further north late last year upped my best to 25kgs then a few months later two companions pushed the bar to 27kgs then 35kgs.
A tribute to Neil it was a pleasure to have fished with him a top fisherman and a top bloke too RIP.
yea no worries we need sum good rain hey, i caught a decant mullie two days ago ther and lost a good 6o-70 pounder, gota get back up ther soon! been testing these new circle hooks they work a treat on jews and bronzies down here! keep up the good vids mate
hey mate, hav you fished slat creek or goolwa(murray mouth) in s.a. it holds mega mullies? similar fishing to yalata and kalbarri worth a shot if ya can get down here...
Yes, some on our early episodes, never seen any really big fish come out in the last few years though. It needs more rain and flow from the mouth i think.
@tazabloke yep i know what your talking about tazabloke ... i to go there and its awesome ... we use fresh coorong mullet fillets and have landed 4 in 5 years at over 20kgs . the only draw back is that it has to be blowing easterly winds in consecutive days to calm the swells and waves down
can you guys try fishing for the mulloway in vic so i can getsome tips never caught one but try so hard i use all the baits mullet salmon squid callamari and all of them fresh and on a running sinker rig with a size 5kl and i normaly try in the barwin river in barwon heads were meany fish have been taken if you cant make a show of it can you give me some tips
The Barwon has not produced the number or quality of fish it used to for some time now. Possibly due to the lack of rain and siltation of the deeper areas of the river mouth area. At the moment the reality is that, you can drive interstate for a week and catch multiple fish with a much higher degree of certainty. Sometimes you need to go to the fish. I have heard that mulloway still get caught there, but much further upstream. Email me directly for some rigs and stuff.
Hi mate i fished that coast from the barwonriver 13th beach jan juc black rock 1 full night a week for about 3 years using the freshest baits all the right conditions cuaght alot of gummy sharks 7 gill salmom rays but never got a mullowoy
Always use a shock leader when braid is my main line. Use 30lb Daiwa Saltiga Surf braid, 60lb Black Magic Tough Trace shock leader, 60lb Black Magic Fluorocarbon Hook header. My shock leader is long enough so there is 6 winds of leader on the spool when the sinker hangs at the largest guide on the rod.
Neil was a Gun fisherman!!!!

am planning to go for the Penn spinfisher 950ssm or shimano bait runner 6500
or the fin-nor ofshore 8500 for mulloway from the surf, maybe have some fun with sharks and rays

WHatSaltiga Ballistic are you using in kilbarri? the heavy or extra heavy model?
billymako 3 years ago
The heavy is more than adequate for this style of fishing. Extra heavy would only be required if you wanted to use massive baits all the time.
blackrunproductions 3 years ago
Awesome video. What model ballistic is that?

awsome mulloway, u make it look so easy
