A well driven stock Z06 is in the 11's, not high 12's. Even a heavy ass 426hp Camaro can do 12.8, so this time shouldnt lead people to believe that the 427 is trash. The vette driver spun his wheels more on launch than when he was supposed to burn out. Also it has 470 tq, not 370

Everyone is arguing over this video like it was a surprise the vette lost. Jesus Christ it's a 351. Corvettes haven't been made for drag strips since back then. It might have more horsepower but the torque is about the same and a transmission on a muscle car(351 stang) is a lot better for drags than a sports car(corvette). Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races.

I could build a Z06 into a 1/4 mile car. 4;11 detroit locker, traction bars, cam shaft, tires and so on. I wanted to turn my 71 Mach1 into a Talladega Superspeedway car...2;88 gears and a full Nascar set-up...lol! 230mph!
...I drive the Boss to the drag strip and have a full interior, (ie, back seat, AM/FM CD radio in dash, etc.), as well as street legal mufflers on during this race! The vette was the same but I guess missing some balls.

You have a nice car, but the C6 z06 stock has hit 10sec 1/4 do a search for Ranger c6 z06 and you will find that this car is much faster with the correct driver. These cars are very hard to launch. I seen your 60ft was a 1.7 but couldnt tell what the C6s was. nice car though just dont underestimate the z06:)
...of course the Mustang is modified! But the vette is the ultimate car GM modified as a race model! Point is, they are both street cars and if my Boss was too modified, there is no way I can get off the line with street tires nor would I be driving it in the city!

first off the stang had some massive drag radials, the vette had stock ass eagles. look at the trap speeds. pretty close to be a full sec off pace. im guessing the vette needed a driver mod, and some drag radials as well, and it would have been alot closer. but shit a zo6 comes with a factory rating of 505hp, and a factory warrenty! dont need a 4.10 gear, with a 351 loud ass gas guzzler that was purpose built to prove it can beat a stock zo6.
What a complete mismatch! First of all, I am NOT convinced that this Boss 351 is even close to a REAL Boss. If you are going to match them up take a highly tuned STOCK Boss 351 with decent chassis and suspension mods and THEN compare. Sorry, but this car looks and sounds like a clone that somebody "calls" a Boss. Not only that, but the characteristic noisy valvetrain isn't there either.
So technically the Corvette had the advantage on Displacement size and More HP according to GM's stat's, But most GM lovers always under estimated what a Ford 351Ci is capable of for power. And honestly all the Boss Mustang owner had to do is install a bigger camshaft and springs,K and N air filter, and headers to get that type of HP like in this one.

A) I don't own a Ford Taurus no more. It was a gas saver. I own a Ford F350 Harley Edition its an 09 6.4L Powerstroke. B) we have several rangers with both the vulcan and 4.0L Col. under the hoods most of them are hard driven parts trucks with over 300k miles on them. We have several F150's that have 320k miles on them and just being gas motors. I've owned several fords. My girl had a Saturn the reverse was going out in it, and the junky pos burnt the valves up and threw a timing chain. JUNK.
I sold that Taurus with 233k miles on it still running to a young man that drives it today. It was never busted it would still spin the front tires when I got rid of it. Chevrolet produces one to, but in their main line of trucks they use the 5.3L and the 6.0L which are garbage pushrod designs. After about 180k miles the lifters knock upon acceleration. I work with chevys and chevy is not anything special. We use to have a Caddy for a company car, and it was a DOHC engine 4.6L and it was GARBAGE. It was being serviced more then we got to drive it. Powerstroke is made by Navistar, I knew that. However fords new motor the 6.7L is made in house BY FORD.

Powerstroke most certainly does not suck. Duramax is garbage. Its a jap motor that eats injectors. The 6.4L is bullet proof. The 6.0L was a great motor if the common idiot didn't try and add 250HP without changing the tranny or studding the stock head gaskets. We have several 04-06 SD's that are 6.0 with 180K + miles on them. Explain to me why fords modular sucks? Statistics show it being the most reliable over chevy and dodge.
duramax is a great engine, they just had a recal on injectors, thats free to get them replaced, and the northstar was a great engine, you just seem to have bad luck with chevys. if you look at the top 10 best engines list you will see, the pushrod beats fords modular every year, and that audi is the best, but thats beside the point, the pushrod is a proven engine that works great, and wait did you say that a chevy cant spin tires up there in your tauras comment? i must have been mistaken
Get a real list then dude. Modular motors have out ranked chevy motors for years. Less moving parts, less wear and tear on the motor. The injector recall didn't fix the problem. We have several DMAX's they are powerless pieces of junk. If you wanna go drag racing in one then they are okay but if you wanna pull something then they are garbage unless you chip them, which is stupid.
Come down to Indiana. We have several 5.3L's that have only 100k miles that we've had to replace the sensors on. They knock as well with a tinging come from them. Obviously a lifter knocking, one of them may even be a rod clap. We spend more money on these trucks then we ever did Ford, and believe me we misuse the piss outta of them, but Ford has always held up, while chevy just fails. She drove a saturn back when I met her and it was a cheap car. She has a brand new 2010 Taurus SHO. We traded a 2007 Ford Taurus SE in for it with 13k miles that we bought new. The saturn in fact is still sitting in her mom and dads driveway. I have a video of it on my phone. I'll upload it. The valves burnt up in it, the tranny would hardly never go in reverse, and I believe the reason it died was because the timing chain slipped. It had 127k miles on it.
It is a blue color with a moonroof. Fully loaded with all the options. She was quiet upset when it went caput. I towed it with a chain with my expedition, its been sitting since. Its got a brand new set of tires. I looked up the issue and several people report the same issue with the reverse going out, and the hard jerks into gears that hers was doing. It used about 2 quarts of oil every two tanks of gas, and smoked like a freight train.

Go to any 1/4 Drag Racing ET Calculator and type in the weight of that 71' Boss Mustang which is 3560LBS and put 443 FLYWHEEL HP = 11.667505 ET time. Oh and that Motor in 71' Boss 351C was underrated at 330 hp at 5,400 and 370 lb-ft at 4,000, But actually had 383 hp at 6,100 and 391 lb-ft at 4,000 Stock from the factory. And the funny part is that Vette has a LS7 427CI SBC Rated at 505HP and 370 FT TQ in 2006

I'm a mustang guy but the 351 boss didn't run no where near 12's stock maybe high 14's low 15's. The 351C really is a good street engine with the torque down low but the 351W makes for a far better race motor.
your right big blocks do make for better drag motors if you can fit the tire to hook up all the extra torque but a Cleavland isnt a big block its a small block with big block heads which was a poor design thats y anybody that races them usually put on a set of aluminum heads modeled after the 2v heads not the bigger 4v heads. no reason to have valves that big on a motor that cant produce enough cubic inches r high enough rpm to use them.
Under my account, 70 Mustang with 4V heads - 13.5 sec 1/4. mile, stock w/mild cam. "GT40 351 Mirage engine", 1967 winning at Spa, Kyalami, Karlskoga, Skarpnack, and Montlhery. The Mirage 351XE.... winning against 427 MKII's, Ferrari 412P's and Lola T70 MKIII's. Once upon a time the 351C 4V was the darling of the performance industry. Ford was proud of its new motor and all the DELIBERATE engineering that went into it, Nobody was complaining the ports were too big.
the cleavlend is a good motor and your right in the 70' it was the performance standard but the fact of the matter is the
4V heads on the 351 is the equivlent of hooking a fire hose to a house spicket. the engine just cant flow enough volume to use the heads simple physics. the first thing egine builders today is swap out the 4V heads with 2.19 valves for a smaller set of heads with like 2.05 valves. theirs a reason that the cleavlend is the darling of the past and not of today like the 351W
I have to disaagree. The first thing Cleveland builders do is not swap 4v heads for 2v heads. The truth is, the 4v's are superior in performance applications. And the reason why the Windosr is now the choice, is because it has a taller deck height and VAST after market support.
I agree factory 4v heads r better heads then factory 2v heads but if u look at after mark aluminum heads made for the 351C they run substatialy smaller runners and valves that more resembles the 2v heads. the 4v heads use 2.19 valves which is bigger then most valves in 1000+hp small block. the after markets is so vast for the 351W because its the perferred small block of drag racers & not because of its taller deck height because most dont stroke the 351W any more then the 351C is capapble
The 351C-4V is a big block. The 302 Boss, is a small block engine, which has the same exact heads the 351C-4V. A 4V will always outrun a 2V , as the 2V runs out of air flow in the heads. No theory, ask NASCAR. The engines for NASCAR are a direct result of the 351C-4V design. It is all in the setup and skill. 4V's are not for those who want plug and play toys.
Nascar switched from the FE to the 351C starting in the 70's becuase they were restricted to only 358ci but in 91' they went to the venerable 351W as nascar called it due to its far superior design. The 351C isnt a big block as to the defination of a big block is the manufactures 2 biggest series motors which in fords case would be the FE and 385 series. Nascar also has used the 351W head for the last 18 years which they currently use a yates head which is nothing like the 4V 351C head.
Also for you to say that aluminum heads are just for plug and play which is incorrect I myself have a set of heavily worked over AFR heads on my small block ford and i didn't go this route for the simple reason that its easier I choose them because the best worked over 4v head in the world couldn't flow the same cfm and for getting way more power out of them and losing 40lbs in the process. the proof is in the pudding bro the 351C is a thing of the past 351W owns the drag strip and the oval.
@FireBirdRaceway I just want to say Ford never used block sizes like big and small only engine classes. the 302 is in the windsor family with 289, 302, 351W but the 351C is in the 335 engine family which are considered mid-blocks between big and small, and the 385 which is 429/460 which are considered big blocks, but with ford there is no big and small block. I don't want to fight so just correct me if im wrong but i know ford uses family series engines
i was 22 when the 71 boss came out, thats factory stock, except the wheels and tires. theres only ONE other car made that will beat a 1971 boss 351 down the qtr mile. the super rare 1969 Boss 351C. my mustang bible & vintage carkraft magazine has this one doing a low 10.90's and off the showroom floor you can take it to 187.4mph you can cry and scream all you want, you can't beat this 69 boss in your wildest dreams, unless you mod the snot out of your jap car to even be in iits class

A well driven stock Z06 is in the 11's, not high 12's. Even a heavy ass 426hp Camaro can do 12.8, so this time shouldnt lead people to believe that the 427 is trash. The vette driver spun his wheels more on launch than when he was supposed to burn out. Also it has 470 tq, not 370

Everyone is arguing over this video like it was a surprise the vette lost. Jesus Christ it's a 351. Corvettes haven't been made for drag strips since back then. It might have more horsepower but the torque is about the same and a transmission on a muscle car(351 stang) is a lot better for drags than a sports car(corvette). Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races.
All that aside, that is a beautiful Mustang you have there, my friend.

I could build a Z06 into a 1/4 mile car. 4;11 detroit locker, traction bars, cam shaft, tires and so on. I wanted to turn my 71 Mach1 into a Talladega Superspeedway car...2;88 gears and a full Nascar set-up...lol! 230mph!

You have a nice car, but the C6 z06 stock has hit 10sec 1/4 do a search for Ranger c6 z06 and you will find that this car is much faster with the correct driver. These cars are very hard to launch. I seen your 60ft was a 1.7 but couldnt tell what the C6s was. nice car though just dont underestimate the z06:)

11.6 is awesome out of one of those. A friend of mine has a 73 Falcon wagon down here in Oz that runs 11.3 all day long with a 351C and C4. I've got a carby'd 351C in my daily driven 1993 Falcon ute too haha, I love it!!

first off the stang had some massive drag radials, the vette had stock ass eagles. look at the trap speeds. pretty close to be a full sec off pace. im guessing the vette needed a driver mod, and some drag radials as well, and it would have been alot closer. but shit a zo6 comes with a factory rating of 505hp, and a factory warrenty! dont need a 4.10 gear, with a 351 loud ass gas guzzler that was purpose built to prove it can beat a stock zo6.

What a complete mismatch! First of all, I am NOT convinced that this Boss 351 is even close to a REAL Boss. If you are going to match them up take a highly tuned STOCK Boss 351 with decent chassis and suspension mods and THEN compare. Sorry, but this car looks and sounds like a clone that somebody "calls" a Boss. Not only that, but the characteristic noisy valvetrain isn't there either.

So technically the Corvette had the advantage on Displacement size and More HP according to GM's stat's, But most GM lovers always under estimated what a Ford 351Ci is capable of for power. And honestly all the Boss Mustang owner had to do is install a bigger camshaft and springs,K and N air filter, and headers to get that type of HP like in this one.

You can build 3 chevy small blocks for the price of one of these motors, but I gurante this motor will run circles around it, and run a lot longer at higher RPM's with higher miles.

this is coming form a guy who drives a busted ford tauras, well you want to know something? i own a saturn with 220000 on the odo that still runs, my friend has a 1990 chevy 1500 that has 360000 on it and only the tranny has been rebuilt, my uncle has a 2 ford rangers a 3.0 vulcan and a 2.3 dual spark both have under 200000 and both dont work, so in my experiance the fords are unreliable, and i have prof of this your just spouting bullshit, driving that busted tauras cus its all you ever owned

A) I don't own a Ford Taurus no more. It was a gas saver. I own a Ford F350 Harley Edition its an 09 6.4L Powerstroke. B) we have several rangers with both the vulcan and 4.0L Col. under the hoods most of them are hard driven parts trucks with over 300k miles on them. We have several F150's that have 320k miles on them and just being gas motors. I've owned several fords. My girl had a Saturn the reverse was going out in it, and the junky pos burnt the valves up and threw a timing chain. JUNK.

I sold that Taurus with 233k miles on it still running to a young man that drives it today. It was never busted it would still spin the front tires when I got rid of it. More then any pos chevy will do because of its a pushrod motor that wears out. Can you tell me the difference between common rail diesel and the old 7.3L Powerstroke? Nope. Can you explain what pushrod has that modular don't? Nope. You no nothing about what you are talking about. In this business we buy whats reliable Ford is.

Chevrolet produces one to, but in their main line of trucks they use the 5.3L and the 6.0L which are garbage pushrod designs. After about 180k miles the lifters knock upon acceleration. I work with chevys and chevy is not anything special. We use to have a Caddy for a company car, and it was a DOHC engine 4.6L and it was GARBAGE. It was being serviced more then we got to drive it. Powerstroke is made by Navistar, I knew that. However fords new motor the 6.7L is made in house BY FORD.

Powerstroke most certainly does not suck. Duramax is garbage. Its a jap motor that eats injectors. The 6.4L is bullet proof. The 6.0L was a great motor if the common idiot didn't try and add 250HP without changing the tranny or studding the stock head gaskets. We have several 04-06 SD's that are 6.0 with 180K + miles on them. Explain to me why fords modular sucks? Statistics show it being the most reliable over chevy and dodge.

duramax is a great engine, they just had a recal on injectors, thats free to get them replaced, and the northstar was a great engine, you just seem to have bad luck with chevys. if you look at the top 10 best engines list you will see, the pushrod beats fords modular every year, and that audi is the best, but thats beside the point, the pushrod is a proven engine that works great, and wait did you say that a chevy cant spin tires up there in your tauras comment? i must have been mistaken

Get a real list then dude. Modular motors have out ranked chevy motors for years. Less moving parts, less wear and tear on the motor. The injector recall didn't fix the problem. We have several DMAX's they are powerless pieces of junk. If you wanna go drag racing in one then they are okay but if you wanna pull something then they are garbage unless you chip them, which is stupid.

Come down to Indiana. We have several 5.3L's that have only 100k miles that we've had to replace the sensors on. They knock as well with a tinging come from them. Obviously a lifter knocking, one of them may even be a rod clap. We spend more money on these trucks then we ever did Ford, and believe me we misuse the piss outta of them, but Ford has always held up, while chevy just fails. ya i still couldnt find it, but thats fairly nice, 450k not bad i only make about 80k but if yall make that much why does she drive a saturn? and no i dont work at a car lot, i work at gardline, im the guy who assymbles the jobs and puts them out to companys, and i didnt say my eclipse was but serch john shepereds talon it ran a 7.70 and its street legal, and as with the d deal i dont care about you buying new trucks for a much better price than retail, and anyways my saurn is a gas saver

She drove a saturn back when I met her and it was a cheap car. She has a brand new 2010 Taurus SHO. We traded a 2007 Ford Taurus SE in for it with 13k miles that we bought new. The saturn in fact is still sitting in her mom and dads driveway. I have a video of it on my phone. I'll upload it. The valves burnt up in it, the tranny would hardly never go in reverse, and I believe the reason it died was because the timing chain slipped. It had 127k miles on it.

It is a blue color with a moonroof. Fully loaded with all the options. She was quiet upset when it went caput. I towed it with a chain with my expedition, its been sitting since. Its got a brand new set of tires. I looked up the issue and several people report the same issue with the reverse going out, and the hard jerks into gears that hers was doing. It used about 2 quarts of oil every two tanks of gas, and smoked like a freight train.

Go to any 1/4 Drag Racing ET Calculator and type in the weight of that 71' Boss Mustang which is 3560LBS and put 443 FLYWHEEL HP = 11.667505 ET time. Oh and that Motor in 71' Boss 351C was underrated at 330 hp at 5,400 and 370 lb-ft at 4,000, But actually had 383 hp at 6,100 and 391 lb-ft at 4,000 Stock from the factory. And the funny part is that Vette has a LS7 427CI SBC Rated at 505HP and 370 FT TQ in 2006

But when it was underrated at 330HP and actually had 383HP from the factory bone stock it does not take much to make that car run 11.6's in the 1/4 mile. Also I will add that BOSS 351 has ALOT more TORQUE then that gutless for low end TQ 427Ci Corvette motor can ever dream of having and that is the facts. You're stupid if you think the boss only ran 13.9's from the factory when every car was underated

@untoldguitarist, why are you even fighting about this, i own a boss 351 that my father passed down to me when he passed, and yeah it runs 13's, its by far my favorite car but it was never the greatest in the 1/4 mile, when i was a kid my mom had a 1965 gt350 that they put a fiberglass front end on and dropped a 351w into and it ran 11's . that thing was badass

I'm a mustang guy but the 351 boss didn't run no where near 12's stock maybe high 14's low 15's. The 351C really is a good street engine with the torque down low but the 351W makes for a far better race motor.

your right big blocks do make for better drag motors if you can fit the tire to hook up all the extra torque but a Cleavland isnt a big block its a small block with big block heads which was a poor design thats y anybody that races them usually put on a set of aluminum heads modeled after the 2v heads not the bigger 4v heads. no reason to have valves that big on a motor that cant produce enough cubic inches r high enough rpm to use them.

Under my account, 70 Mustang with 4V heads - 13.5 sec 1/4. mile, stock w/mild cam. "GT40 351 Mirage engine", 1967 winning at Spa, Kyalami, Karlskoga, Skarpnack, and Montlhery. The Mirage 351XE.... winning against 427 MKII's, Ferrari 412P's and Lola T70 MKIII's. Once upon a time the 351C 4V was the darling of the performance industry. Ford was proud of its new motor and all the DELIBERATE engineering that went into it, Nobody was complaining the ports were too big.

the cleavlend is a good motor and your right in the 70' it was the performance standard but the fact of the matter is the
4V heads on the 351 is the equivlent of hooking a fire hose to a house spicket. the engine just cant flow enough volume to use the heads simple physics. the first thing egine builders today is swap out the 4V heads with 2.19 valves for a smaller set of heads with like 2.05 valves. theirs a reason that the cleavlend is the darling of the past and not of today like the 351W

I have to disaagree. The first thing Cleveland builders do is not swap 4v heads for 2v heads. The truth is, the 4v's are superior in performance applications. And the reason why the Windosr is now the choice, is because it has a taller deck height and VAST after market support.

I agree factory 4v heads r better heads then factory 2v heads but if u look at after mark aluminum heads made for the 351C they run substatialy smaller runners and valves that more resembles the 2v heads. the 4v heads use 2.19 valves which is bigger then most valves in 1000+hp small block. the after markets is so vast for the 351W because its the perferred small block of drag racers & not because of its taller deck height because most dont stroke the 351W any more then the 351C is capapble

The 351C-4V is a big block. The 302 Boss, is a small block engine, which has the same exact heads the 351C-4V. A 4V will always outrun a 2V , as the 2V runs out of air flow in the heads. No theory, ask NASCAR. The engines for NASCAR are a direct result of the 351C-4V design. It is all in the setup and skill. 4V's are not for those who want plug and play toys.

Nascar switched from the FE to the 351C starting in the 70's becuase they were restricted to only 358ci but in 91' they went to the venerable 351W as nascar called it due to its far superior design. The 351C isnt a big block as to the defination of a big block is the manufactures 2 biggest series motors which in fords case would be the FE and 385 series. Nascar also has used the 351W head for the last 18 years which they currently use a yates head which is nothing like the 4V 351C head.

Also for you to say that aluminum heads are just for plug and play which is incorrect I myself have a set of heavily worked over AFR heads on my small block ford and i didn't go this route for the simple reason that its easier I choose them because the best worked over 4v head in the world couldn't flow the same cfm and for getting way more power out of them and losing 40lbs in the process. the proof is in the pudding bro the 351C is a thing of the past 351W owns the drag strip and the oval.

@FireBirdRaceway I just want to say Ford never used block sizes like big and small only engine classes. the 302 is in the windsor family with 289, 302, 351W but the 351C is in the 335 engine family which are considered mid-blocks between big and small, and the 385 which is 429/460 which are considered big blocks, but with ford there is no big and small block. I don't want to fight so just correct me if im wrong but i know ford uses family series engines

i was 22 when the 71 boss came out, thats factory stock, except the wheels and tires. theres only ONE other car made that will beat a 1971 boss 351 down the qtr mile. the super rare 1969 Boss 351C. my mustang bible & vintage carkraft magazine has this one doing a low 10.90's and off the showroom floor you can take it to 187.4mph you can cry and scream all you want, you can't beat this 69 boss in your wildest dreams, unless you mod the snot out of your jap car to even be in iits class
