Very interesting! I think the reason he is able to socially connect is due to the fact that he's experiencing the numbers logically but also emotionally. Every word gives him different emotions, like the number 9 intimidates him. He's encountering these emotions in a different way; however, he still understands that fear is fear and happiness is happiness. His emotional connection compensates for his awkwardness.

The trouble is that a) they only give you a statistical advantage, so you need to play a lot and b) when the casino thinks you are doing it, they ban you.

i dont think they would do that... there are reprocussions from having these abilities. i have similar experiences.. visualizing numbers. i can almost... taste them even. hard to explain. but it comes with autistic type behaviors. i cant concentrate on peoples faces or keep eye contact. :(

hmmmm... i think i might have 'synithesia' (did i spell it right?). cause if i think of not only a number, but an equation, word, letter, note, chord, or even song, i feel an emotion, and it has a distinct color to it. for example, the word 'the' is almost a yellowish, clear, bright color, and makes me feel lonely. the number '7' is aqua-like, and feels cold. the equation '68x + 75 = 22' give me a sensation of sadness, like a loss, alomst, and a smell of some sort a perfume.
