  • I didn't know Jesus even played an electric guitar.

  • i hate this guy in another vid he says that jimi doesnt play music . just noise!!!! no wonder he has no soul in his playin g

  • @adamphillips44

Can you tell me the title of this video?

  • @AngilasGuy Yngwie Malmsteen - I Never Played Hendrix Riffs (2 of 3)

  • @adamphillips44

Ah, I see. Thank you. I think he was talking about his experience when he was 5 though, and how that image impacted him. I highly doubt he actually considers Hendrix noise, because he often plays covers with his own twist at live shows. But even if you're right, and he thinks Hendrix is noise, does that mean he has no soul? Of course not. Do all guitarist have to admire Hendrix to have soul? Yngwie can be a huge egotistical ass, I'll definitely grant you that.

  • @AngilasGuy Watching the clip that he referred to, the "noise" he referred to was the noise being made by Hendrix destroying and burning his guitar, he had not heard his music at the time to inspired Yngwie to want to pick up the guitar, but was first impressed by Hendrix's act of burning the guitar

  • @adamphillips44 I thought that at first too, but I think he was talking about the fact that the particular clip didn't have music, just the noise of him smashing the guitar.

  • I love Yngwie's Jimi covers. And man what a great Strat sound. I am more of a Gibson guy, but when I think of the ideal Strat sound, this guy's got it.

  • Im sorry but yngwie isnt the jesus of rock guitar. The jesus of rock guitar would be jason becker.

  • @reaperofgenocide it's not a competition, btw the main influence of jason is... Yngwie!

  • @iCorentin i know its not a competition. I just feel yngwie doesnt hold a candle to jason. Even if yngwie inspired jason and every other great solo guitarist. Just my opinion bro... jason becker ftw!

  • Yngwie is good, but he just doesn`t have the "feeling", the funk or the space in between the notes.

  • Such a wang doodler.

  • Whatever, there is no doubt Yngwie knows best about Hendrix style. That lick from1:40 to 1:41 is purely a Jimi trademark, and is also the proof that Malmsteen plays Hendrix riffs! :)

  • yo fuck yngwie. he totally contradicts himself in that video when he says "oh i never played hendrix riffs" and "oh his music was just noise"

  • The interviews seem to contradict one another, sure. However, Malmsteen is obviously a Hendrix fan; he's talked about it before. In fact, the sleeve of his third album, Trilogy, has a list of thank yous that includes only two guitarists: Ritchie Blackmore and Jimi Hendrix. He wouldn't do that if all he liked about him was theatrics. In the other video he's either quoted out of context or he simply worded his thought terribly. Hendrix and Malmsteen are both talented in different ways.

  • This has less to do with Hendrix than the fall of the Roman Empire with a turkey sandwich.

  • featured video - Yngwie Malmsteen - I Never played Hendrix Riffs...

  • you can totally tell he really didnt want to play jimi hendrix, i like his bashing video better lol, at his skill level, he knows what every past artist and future artist will come up with, pretty simple

  • Thats wierd, I had seen a video earlier of Yngwie bashing jimi hendrix, saying he wsa noise not music...

  • @acdczeppelinhalen1 he was saying the noise( smashing and burning a guitar) which is not music, inspired him to pick up the guitar, not that his music was noise......he only said that smashing a guitar was noise

  • I'm sure Jimi would have layed back and enjoyed this bluesy shred session with a cigarette!...

  • ...continued. Jimi plays with emotion and passion which I can feel when listening to his music. When I hear Yngwie I hear speed... That's it.

  • Ok, I'm confused. In another video Yngwie says Jimi is no influence, just noise, a guy who set a guitar on fire. etc. / basically being a total douche. Here he talks about Jimi being an influence. Is there something I'm missing or is Yngwie a hypocritical assclown? Jimi plays with emotion.

  • @lexriani I think he was drunk:)

  • "I never played Hendrix licks. The only thing he did for me, I saw him on tv smashing up and burning a guitar... I liked that. It wasn't music. The music did not influence me because there was no music, it was just noise."

  • Yngwie is an asshole. He is not "honoring Hendrix". He is defacing his songs playing them with his "style" (cramming as much notes as possible).

I hope Yngwie dies of ebolah. Hendrix's music owns Malmsteem.

I mean, Yngwe doesn't even know what "classical" means, much less neoclassical.

  • @metroidorx comment on how good hendrix is on hendrix vids ya fuckin imbecil. and I bet your ass malmsteen has about 5 classical theory degrees more than you (who probably have none). stfu and gtfo

  • @slayerfanatic666 Too bad that hes true, Yngwie is an asshole. You should talk about music when you pick up a guitar, and feel the music. You aren't a guitarist just becouse you can play 5125 notes a second.

To play fast all you need is to play a scale over and over again. Even an idiot has the ability to do that.

  • Comment removed

  • @pityisz to play different things means to express different things. deal with it. and who are you to judge who feels it and who doesn't ? obviously we uphold the "god" status on all our favorite artists because they make us feel something. live and let live :)

  • @slayerfanatic666 Live and Let live? I guess that what he wanted to express by explaining how Henrix sucked, and how hes music was just ''noise''.

Who is this idiot to say that Jimi Hendrix, the reason of why Eric Clapton, SRV and all the other legends started playing, is nobody but a man who burns guitars to become famous. This should tell one impotant thing to all of the people who know what 'rock/blues music' is.

  • @pityisz I understand your point of view but you obviously didn't pay attention to that interview. I dunno man, this is all pointless. both dudes are awesome and have spawned huge followings, what we're doing here is arrogantly showing our preferences :) let's stop trolling and just listen to the music.

  • Hendrix was good, all of us guitar players owe something to him, why? he changed rock music forever but that doesn't make him the absolute best or anything like that, there are plenty of musicians who have better technique and feeling (yes they can go together) I'll give you an example of what I mean, the first nintendo was awesome in its time but i would never trade my ps3 for one of those

  • in the other video he tells that JIMI HENDRIX IS just a little thing and just noise but why you try and swet in your ass to play his music

    Hendrix is best

  • @whatshendrix

shut up you troll. I'll define soulfull playing for you.

The ability to translate emotions and into sound.

There. Happy enough? Ynwei is damn good, no if or but.

    However, hendrix has the blues.

  • @FLMKane

It's the sound that gets translated into emotions, not the other way around...

  • what's the model of his wah?

  • Everybody that's anybody in the guitar world pays homage to the one and only Jimi "The Master" Hendrix! That's because a man like Jimi Hendrix only comes along once in a life time and we were lucky enough to have him come in our life time!

  • Yngwie is one of the best guitarists currently, and YES he can play Hendrix licks, just like I can copy PS3 games without any knowledge of programming. The thing is this, Jimi was the most original, innovative guitarist of his era, even up to today, noone is half as good as he was. Clapton practiced for the past 40 years, and still doesnt come close. These guys acn play and duplicate and play the instrument, Hendrix was and is the instrument. God made one Jimi, never again!

  • yawn

  • Honestly, the vast majority of all this talk about Yngwie's supposed "ego" is just a bunch of baseless rumors spread on message boards by talentless, jealous neckbeards. As a matter of fact, most of the time the only "ego" I see comes not from him, but from all these talentless people that feel the need to constantly rip on him when he's just doing what he loves.

  • Holy shit whoever says Ygnwie plays with no soul is a fucking idiot did you see htat voodoo child solo he just played?! Out of this world!

  • @razorman916

not enough bending, too fast and overall really lacks hendrix soul, just look at hendrix play and then at yngwie, you see who got soul and who is just concentrating to play right, hendrix music came out of his heart and went trough his fingers, while malmsteen just learned this and now plays it.

  • @OropherThranduil

When you surpass both of them THEN you can judge.

I have all of Jimi's albums and many DVD's, I've a 3x4 meter poster of Jimi on my wall and another small portrait of him playing at Monterey, I've 10 books about Jimi and all the Jimi guitar pick collections (some of which I bought in two copies), not to mention that I've played all of Jimi's songs and licks and I still think that Yngwie did an incredible job here! I listen to this 10 times a day, I even tabbed it.

  • @OropherThranduil

Furthermore - what the fuck are you talking about "not enough bending". He's bending 1 or 2 notes per bar... That's pretty excessive bending. It's pretty clear that you're either a very incompetent musician who has done no ear training in his life, or you're not a musician at all. So what the fuck are you doing comparing two rock TITANS, you arrogant twat?

  • @whatshendrix

listen to clapton solo on the beatles while my guitar gently weeps, and you know what real bending is, the guitar screams and cries in agony, while this here sounds as soulles as anything he ever did.

technique doesn't help blues musicians that much, i mean yeah it helps if you can combine it with real feel and soul, i mean even prodigy kid quinn sullivan has more soul in his playing, and i hate that kid almost as much as yngwie 'fast fingers but nothing behind them' malmsteen.

  • @OropherThranduil

You have a lot to learn... And you have yet to broaden your horizon... Your ignorance, prejudice and biased views prevent you from hearing and appreciating the music.

  • @OropherThranduil

Tell me how do you define "soulful playing" and then tell me why you think it lacks in Yngwie's music. It would speak good of you if you go into technical details instead of giving vague ambiguous definitions such as "Clapton's bends from a George Harrison song".

  • that#s your problem, you're into technique:

Lemmy of Motörhead about speed metal guys:

They've just got the wrong bit. They think that being fast and loud is the whole thing and it isn't. The guitar solos are not really difficult for a guitar player, it's just playing scales. To feel a solo and bend into it & I mean Hendrix is the best guitarist you've ever seen in your life. And he learned from people like Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins and people like that inspired Hendrix.

  • @OropherThranduil

Oh my fucking god - not only are you deaf, but you can't read either... I said "go into technical details", I never said I pay attention to technique only.

I hate guitarists who just go fast. Soul with no tech is the same as tech with no soul. Soul gives you something to say, tech helps you say it. They are undeniably of absolute and equal importance.

Now are you going to define "soulful playing" or are you going to keep masking your incompetence with vague examples?

  • @whatshendrix

dude, i don't know shit about what you call technique, i can't even read the fucking notes, just like any great musician can't, but i have ears and i hear that this guy here has nothing behind his technique, just look at him and you know that he's concentrating to play the right notes, then watch hendirx perform, the notes come naturally to him, he doesn't have to think about what he plays next, notes ''are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup'' to quote lennon.

  • @OropherThranduil

Mediocre musicians can't read the notes. There are those who understand notes without being able to read them- like Clapton and Jimi, they got the point of notes without needing to write them down or read them. And you are just deaf, ignorant, arrogant and plain fucking stupid.

  • @whatshendrix

another good example was something jack bruce once said, when he and eric were doing solos live during their cream days sometimes after a 10 minute solo jack lost what song they were playing because he was so into the solo he forgot everything around him, really, you can just see wether a player plays with his heart or with his hands only, and here it's pretty obvious.

  • what is the name of this wah pedal that he is playing on?

  • where did the cigarette come from?

  • sound's a lot like early Zakk Wylde style

  • Me And Yngwie See Eye To Eye!!! Jimi Hendrix Had Good Showsmanship, But His Playing Turns Me Off Too!!! He Was Good For His Time, But Compared To Randy Rhoads And Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix Was Sloppy!!!

  • @DylanBStringer91 It shows how much attention you've paid to Jimi Hendrix... Your comment shows that you know very little about the man and his music.. Or if anything at all. Too bad.

Oh, and by the way. Randy Rhodes and EVH together will never ever surpass what the Great Jimi Hendrix accomplished in his short career. They'll forever be dwarfed by this young man who died decades ago. Jimi Hendrix is thee most influential guitar player of all time and he's so for a reason!

  • I dunno, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think it would be that cool to see Yngwie play this 'like Jimi'.. Lets leave the playing like Jimi to Jimi.. That said, I find NOTHING uncool about any musician sharing their interpretation of another musicians music. Music wouldn't be interesting without differing interpretations..

  • fuck yngwie he only gives him cudos cuz he said in another interview that jimi was nothing but noise and does nothing for him , the vid is on youtube , yngwie is a prick

  • its called i never played hendrix riffs

  • It's a lie too....there's an EP, released very early in his career where he starts one of his own songs by playing the intro to Hey Joe.

  • @steviej0289 In that video he was saying that the clip that he saw on the news that day of Hendrix smashing and burning the guitar was just noise. Which it was. He wasn't saying that Hendrix's music was noise, just the "guitar sacrifice" clip. Learn what you're talking about before you make yourself look like a prick.

  • @steviej0289

He didn't say that Jimi was just noise. He said that when he heard him for the first time it was just noise, cause Jimi was burning his guitar. The burning of the guitar inspired Yngwie, not Jimi's music. That's all.

  • @steviej0289 I actually saw that.. wtf is he doing?

  • evryone stop arguing over shit, whos best, if only , and what not, Jimi was talented, hes a true legend in rock guitar and blues, i think he had the skill and abilty to play the technichal stuff we have today, but that wasnt his thing, if he wanted to get into the neoclassical techniques and practiced, hed have picked it up quick! u cant compare him with malmsteen, they both r the best of what they do, i would never doubt Jimi"s ability 2 play like our modern guitar players, he had the gift!

  • @crazyboyxx i'm impressed how people can be ilogical sometimes, i agree with you 100% jimmy was god he oppened people's head to guitar etc but technically any real decent modern guitarrist is better than him, technically that is! he only picked down and a bunch of technics used today weren't discovered at the time so it's a fact! if you fail to see that you are not thinking straight, and don't give me the "music is not about speed" speech, that's not what i'm talking about here at all

  • Sure it's not Yngwie the best. The Best was Dimebag Darrel, Fredrik Thordendal and Marten Hagstrom from Meshuggah, Jimi Hendrix and a lot, like Franco Mussida of PFM.

  • all you guys points are ridiculous?people will fight over anything!jimi was top o the game in his day n now its yngwie!had jimi lived,he woulda sought out classical or flamenco lessons in early 70's as his lack of "outside the blues-box" playing was a major hang for him!n instead it would be jimi TODAY playing vivaldi etc!he WAS a student of his instrument as IS yngwie!but jimi as the "archetypal" guitar hero..that'll never go away!!both will survive the decades as a result of their talent!!

  • thanks for posting, i bought this on vhs when it was released, but haven't watched it in a few years, as i've been in a bit of transition. Good stuff.

  • I just noticed he's so fast that he even has time to switch between his pick ups and integrate the switching with his playing... What the fuck... o_O

  • hes not trying to be hendrix, hes putting his own spin on hendix's style, so theres no need for people to respnd negatively although this is youtube and thats very common, but this isnt not a comparison between the two as much as yngwie showing hendrix's inspiration to him, better he does it his style rather than have a hendrix wanna be.. both legendary guitar players, no need to argue just enjoy it

  • @Nick12341992 : Amen brother!

  • Amen BeenBad4U, JH combined rythm/blues and soloing is unparalleled. Go listen to the endless REAL variations of his songs as done by JH himself. No guitarist comes close EVEN IF THEY WOULD WANTED TO. It takes a whole lot more than just speedy fretting to play like JH did. I guess you yourself are among the layman.

  • He needs to slow down, I'm sure he could sound amazing if he would just slow the fuck down.

  • sphincter

    That's a perceptive comment

As a Hendrix & Blues/Rock fan I find most of the newer guys rely on speed & sometimes so-called 'technique' to prove their point.

As the man said - it's the space between the notes that count, just as much as how fast you can hit the next one.

Jimi playing I Don't Live Today or Machine Gun are good examples of a guitarist making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up by hitting or holding a note, even though he could play blindingly fast

    JMH

  • The licks he plays beg for the speed. This sounds great when played slow, but it sounds out of this earth just as it is.

  • You said "absolute terms" (which means "non-comparative") and then proceeded to make the worst, baseless, pointless comparison I've ever seen.

Because of your ignorance, your argument broke down before it even started.

  • Comment removed

  • Jimi was a more than just a "pioneer." He took the past knowledge of music & guitar when he started jamming the Chitlin Circuit in '61, rewrote & refined it for a while then FLUNG IT DECADES INTO THE FUTURE when he 'made it' in late '66 in London & Europe then again in America in June '67.

That's a musical GIANT, an ICON, not just a pioneer. Les Paul was a pioneer & he peed-his-pants when he saw Jimi play the Village in mid '66 so much so that he returned hunting Jimi down trying to sign him!

  • Obviously Jimmy Hendrix is going to be the patron son of guitar, like Babe Ruth. No matter who hits more home runs than The Babe, The Babe is going to be, you know, The Babe. But the thing is, Jimi Hendrix couldnt play Spanish Fly or Eruption. Technically. Im telling you. Flat out. Just couldnt do it. Jimi got a bunch of gear that nobody ever had before, you know what I am saying? So, he was able to do it before anyone else..."

    By Zakk Wylde

  • Well i'm guessing you didn't know hendrix. Maybe he could do it, the fact is no-one has and ever will be able to play like hendrix and i'm not talking about technical skills i mean the riffs he wrote and the way he played the guitar. Hendrix will always be the greatest

  • To call the hendrix the greatest of all time is inadequate, to call him Jesus is far more accurate.

Jesus wasnt just some great holy dude, and jimi wasnt just some great guitar player.

for anyone who disbelieves, let them sit in awe and watch Hear my train a comin (live at the Royal Albert Hall)

TO date I have not heard any live or studio performance that can Top what Jimi played on that night.

the creativity, kaos, and passion simply can never be recreated or matched, can I get an ahmen?

  • Yngwie > Jimi Hendrix. forever. im sorry but hendrix wasnt event that good. really. DERP PENTATONICS HHERADEPRA BLUES DAPERSDEFS LSD. idk y people dont see the error in theyre ways when giving that douchebag a dick load of credit

  • Hendrix was infinitely more talented than you'll ever be so saying he "wasn't even that good" just shows how much a fucking retard you are.

Let me know when Yngwie is able to arrange and write any song that holds a candle to any of Hendrix's best.

  • ok. lets get something straight, do you play guitar? god u fucking idiot. hendrix was ok at BEST. not even . malmsteen is an absolutly amazing guitar player. idk y the fuck hes #1 on greatest guitarest list bullshit. it should be paul gilbert. or malmsteen. or MICHEAL "MACHINE" KEENE OF THE FACELESS FTW! or alan holdsworth. w/e. no matter what i say it probably wont change ur opinion so fuck it.

  • Yeah because you're dipshit who's been playing guitar for a year and who thinks the way to measure a guitarist's talent is how fast he can play. Let me guess, that long haired twat from Dragonforce is a better player than SRV too? There's a reason Malstreem talks about how good a player Hendrix was and saying how he was influenced by him, I think he knows a little more about guitar playing than you.

You know nothing about music and you know nothing about guitar. Shut the fuck up.

  • ok guy, im done arguing with you because u are a tard. i know about music ok. you do not. you don't understand y i have this opinion. I assuming your just some guy who has heard in mainstream media his whole life that hendrix is the best so u don't know any better. Besides I never said he was a bad guitar player. i just don't find him to be the best. i think he was average to slightly above average. oh and btw, do you know anything about guitar? idiot.

  • Agree Aardvarke,

Very few people make quantum leaps in music - even Yngwie admits Jimi did this.

He changed how others played and perceived the electric guitar, like Chuck Berry before him for example.

In 66 (London), and 67 (Monterey) people's jaws were dropping, including Clapton, Townshend, and The Beatles when they first saw him.

No-one has influenced guitar playing more. He also gave us 3 maybe 4 albums which will go down in rock history.

    JMH

  • Comment removed

  • Hendrix isn't so respected just for his technical skill, which was far above average, it had a lot to do with his style, innovation, and feel too. I probably wasted my time by writing this because judging by the profound arrogance and close-mindedness of your comments you clearly are not open to others' opinions.

  • wow. i am open to other opinions guy. but hendrix just wasnt that good. he didnt suck, he just wasnt that great. i respect that u think hes better. but disagree. and u think i dont know good feeling when i hear it? Listen to some andy mckee. or alan holdsworth. thats some talent.

  • I guess my comment was a little dickish. I agree that the two guitarist you named are other worldly. Whatever, agree to disagree.

  • I have that video and he said that Blackmoore is the jesus of rock guitar

  • beef is better than chicken , no chicken is better , who gives a fuck there both better than me and you

  • wah pedals fuckin rock !

  • This is proof that Yng only can shred church music.

  • what?

  • @nanathenai what? you're a moron?

  • jason becker this and that MAB...can´t you get it in your fat stupid head that...Malmsteen is the reason why becker played like he did and MAB does..its like saying...im better than michael jackson at what he does dancing and singing...not the kid rape stuff..hendrix was a god in 1970...but so would i and the rest of us 50 millions that play guitar at a amateur level today...comprende??..if u wanna say malmsteen vs hendrix...if hendrix would malmsteen he would fucking kiss his ass all day long

  • would everyone stop fuckin moaning. your all arrogant ponces stuck up your own back end. he likes jimi so hes playin a little jimi what the fuck is wrong with that? do you think jimi would have a problem listening to a badass guitarist playin some of his shit? no. so shut up. are you telling me that nobody has the right to play a hendrix? because that would mean theyre unoriginal right? he is showing respect to jimi one kickass guitarist to another. so shut up and get over yourselves.

  • @sr19 Show respect yeah, he said it several times that Hendrix's music was nothing but 'noise'. This guy is just another shredder egohist moron

  • @pityisz

Did you even watch??? Yngwie said Hendrix was the Jesus of rock guitar!!! Meaning, Hendrix had the biggest impact and is the most influential. That's pretty high praise of Hendrix by Yngwie, I would say!!!

The bottom line is, they're both great player's who have had a great impact on guitarist around the world!!!

    CHEERS!!!

  • Dudes there is only one person I have ever heard who can match the same soul and sound as Jimi and that is Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • KILLER BOOTS MAAN!!!

  • that's a great tone imo

  • Hi Ibanezgem224

    it sounds like ING-vay

  • No harm in trying though... haha

if people didn't try to play like hendrix we wouldn't have some of the greatest modern-day guitar heros.

Satch, SRV - R.I.P, John Frusciante, and many more.

But I also know where you're coming from though. I agree that no one can sound like Hendrix, and simply trying to immitate him is kind of futile

  • yeah actually you have a point

  • the sound at 1:24 is just amazing

  • he is not doing hendrix. thats ulrich doing hendrix ala tokyo tapes

  • Jimi with the Blues (feeling) replaced with Ego! Shite!!!

  • how you pronounce yngwie in english?

  • Ing-vay

  • haha bible of jimi hendrix

playing guitar is playing guitar doenst matter about having soul or not it just warps yre playing a bit if yre a great guitar player itll show and people will listen like malmsteen is my fucking god cause of teh pure intensity and fluency of his playing

  • [extended]

baito great player ill admit but he pushes to teh point where nobody actually listens to his guitarplaying hes even out of touch with some of the mainstream players malmsteen at least had the g3 thing going on hendrix well he jammed with anybody he could but mab is outta touch

    MALMSTEEN =GUITAR GOD

  • Ok I dont care of all the hate im gonna get but just to get it out already Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best which also makes Jimi Hendrix the best but I still prefer Stevie's covers of a few Hendrix songs

  • but jimi's is better

  • malmsteen's use of wah is brilliant

  • you can rest assure he learned half of it from jimi

  • I find this boring. It's not that he doesn't have soul, but the playing in this video is a little pointless. I don't have anything against technical ability, but I don't think he was really trying in this video.

  • These "who is better" threads are pointless. . Hendrix was the first one to do stuff, thats why he is so revered. . . The guitar has had 40 + more years of development and exploration since then.

Guitarists like Yngwie, Vai Satriani etc are virtuosos at the instrument and at the top of the tree. . Everyone gets superceded at some point.

They used to say Fred Davis was Snooker god but we all know that Ronnie O sullivan would murder him nowadays with either hand. Things move on. Accept it.

  • I'll give kudos to Yngwie. He's an excellent guitarist who really pushed the limits of the instrument. But so did Hendrix, Clapton, Eric Johnson and Jeff Beck, who I prefer to listen to. My point is it's all just opinion, let's not kill each other and just be happy that there is so much good guitar playing out there for us to enjoy.

  • Thats funny as I now hate you and would like to burn down your hose and kill your first born child.

  • butthurt

  • As much as I'm a blues fan I think this man deserves the respect his fans give him because I believe he's a good guitarist (according to the style he plays of course). However, I'll admit I prefer the artists you mention to him (matter of tastes I guess), I saw both Beck and Clapton on stage and it was truly amazing, great guitarists (in my mind).

You talked about early Clapton but have you ever heard his album "From the Cradle"? Great blues covers all along, you should buy it!

  • if you call a song a "piece", it isnt rock and roll.

    what a wanker

  • I DONT WANT YOUR FUCKING DONUTS

  • Yngwie's vibrato is VERY Hendrix as is a lot of his phrasing and string bending etc. The fact he has his own style overshadows this a little

  • wow he ruining Hendrix

  • He's claiming to be a disciple of Hendrix in order to be more popular.

This man is the pinnacle of soulless shredding and the idea of a slight "pause" from his endless wall of notes in his music has probably never occurred to him.

The notes and times you dont play matter as much as the times you do play.

I agree and hear absolutely no Hendrix influence in that disgusting onslaught and pruning around at Foxy Lady and Voodoo Child.

  • I think he's claiming to like Hendrix because he likes Hendrix. Just because you're a fan of someone's music doesn't mean you'll play like them.

I'm not sure you could call him the pinnacle of soulless shredding (I'd give that to Michael Angelo Baito), sure a lot of his stuff is, but there's some great music in pieces like 'Far Beyond the Sun'.

  • he did slaughter the rythm parts for both songs. but really? soulless? theres no way in hell that would ever be true. i agree with winterdenni here, MAB is the pinnacle of soulless shredding. Yngwie is the pinnacle of soulfull shredding

  • You obviously haven't heard his music then, probably just his shredding pieces.

    Ignorance is bliss.

  • me? MAB? come on hes an embarrasment. his randy tribute was such a joke. he dostroyed what was some of my favorite songs and solos

  • Yeah he's such an embarrassment, must be why he's been named best shredder of the year countless numbers of times.

His tribute to Randy was just that, a tribute. You don't see tribute bands playing the exact original song.

Yngwie is most definitely not the pinnacle of soulful shredding, diminished and minor scale runs (constantly) and then throwing a bend that lasts a while is hardly soulful.

  • No but seriously MAB has no soul

  • Dude seriously the quality of a guitarrist is messured by the soul and creativity MAB to me has no soul in his playing Yngwie has some but not the pinnacle of soulfull shredding If I may Jason Becker and Randy Rhoads are the most soulfull shredder there have been.

  • How about you guys listen to MAB's cover of Dream On? Or Rain Forest, MAB can shred the crap out of the guitar but he is very melodic too.

  • neither of them play with much soul at all....theyre too stuck on technicality

  • Yngwie è un bravo chitarrista, ma secondo me non è in grado di suonare Jimi Hendrix!!!!!!!

    Non è il suo stile!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • way i see it...sure, yngwie can shred but its nothing as creative a hendrix. malmsteen will never come close to creating real music like "hey joe" and "spanish castle magic". plus he hardly writes any lyrics.

  • there was no jimi in that shredding

  • i dont see why everyone is trying to say some one is better than another its music people its not a competition its about expression not who can play the fastest

  • tell me exactly how you measure the amount of feeling in guitar playing. im interested in knowing how you believe you can tell someone they dont play with feeling.

  • he just CAN NOT control himself, he starts out playing Hendrix licks (with a little bit of his own touch) and then there's just Yngwie all over the place

  • 2:00 looks like he's guitar is smoking

  • there is some hendrix in yngwie, cuz both were influenced by jeff beck's tecnique

  • Comical. You need to listen to what Beck said about the first time he heard Hendrix...."I guess I'd better think of something else to do, like work at the Post Office or something." Get real.

  • just because you play his riff in the beginning doesn't mean you are playing his song. this is a joke. there is no hendrix in yngwie malmsteen

  • Ya I agree, completely different shit. Only its the same and yngwie does it better.

  • yyngwie is definitely better, no doubt, WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING PEOPLE, JIMI DIED LMOST 40 YEARS AGO! OF COURSE RIGHT NOW THERE ARE LOTS OF BETTER GUITAR PLAYERS! but i always tougth of yngwie like a machine without soul, even to his tecnique is impressive, he misses the soulful melody others can achive, cuz he kinda lacks enough emotion in his playing

  • Wow, you are possibly the most ignorant piece of crap to crawl on the surface of the earth.

  • Not an Yngwie fan , but he is amazing and it is nice to see him retain from shredding for brief periods

  • My respect has gone up for Yngwie for respecting hendrix..after all he broke so much ground!

  • I don`t like him and his music, but I have to say he is a technical machine.

  • he is gettin such a good sound i wonder wat amp he is using

  • no doubt a maestro, but please do not bastardise the maestro of maestros. before hendrix there was nothing..

  • No Yngwie!! You must wait until AFTER the Voodoo Child intro to shred rape the guitar! Bad Yngwie!

  • He still cant make it sound like hendrix

  • no one can

  • true its great, but...spandex! uggghhh

  • wat u talking about man that sounds awsome

  • stronzo...cosa...stai...facendo......stai fermo...stai fermo....stai fermo!!

  • He can really play.

    AAAUUUGGGHHH! Spandex!

  • I think that jimmy page equals hendrix

  • i think you are wrong, imo.
