First of all the U.S.' economy isn't exactly stable at the moment with the dollar declining so much and the housing problem...Also, Congress has tremendous power because they represent the PEOPLE - isn't that how its supposed to be? Instead of letting the few people in charge of how much money is produced run the country why not the people as outlined in your constitution

the federal reserve is necessary to have a stable economy, a free market economy is subject to booms and busts, any economist knows this. Regulation, specifically effective and "good" regulation softens the booms and the busts so we don't suffer from recession and in extreme cases depression.
The federal reserve is a vital tool to achieve this. I dont know why you brought the income tax into this as that has nothing to do with the federal reserve, stop dodging the topic.
