I agree it is a wonderful Truffaut film. It does not matter that Victor lived over two hundred years ago. His life was and is important and so it is for that wonderful gypsy boy Cargol who plays him. Their lives are sort of emeshed; one of the same in that one can feel such humanity towards Victor and his adversity through the clever artistry of this beautiful young boy and under the direction of a true genius.

this is a beautiful film and i encourage anyone who reads this to watch it. it deserves much more publicity than it did in 1970.
