  • What some people don't realize is that the "tower of power horns" accompanied Heart on this great song! Tower of Power The best at funk and soul baby! One of the best songs of all time and together they kicked some serious ass.

  • this song was my favorite one back in the 80s

  • Billboard's #87 hit of '81. God bless! These 2 folks shouldn't've told how they hated it. God bless! Hugs to ya, Annie, and, Nancy!

  • Talk to it Baby!

  • hey, does anyone know the name of the host? dude with the red button down?

  • The Top 5 singers in Rock n Roll (or variations thereof) are: Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Gregg Allman, Aretha Franklin (if you want to include R&B) and .... Ann Wilson!

  • Mr presenter, it's tell it LIKE it is, not tell it WHAT it is

anyway...i think they have done the best cover of this song

  • Go Ann! One of the best voices ever. Love their rendition of this.

  • Ann and those pipes of hers!

  • Sing it Ann!!!

  • Ann Wilson is the best passionate female belter next to Janis Joplin. She was definitely a great choice as a temporary vocalist for Led Zeppelin a few years back.

  • ann wilson is older than me and she can still wail out a song, last time i saw her on some tv special!

  • one off best versions around. the girl lead singer such ,a power full voice'' those pipes man '' nothing short off hearing and watching Janice /Joplin do her stuff man to much but the whole group as a hold to much probably the first group i have seen using female and male musicians together in a rock group , and were sweet with it great stuff HEART you were inspiration to other young female and male MUSIO"S out there cheers

  • Back in the Seventies and eighties I would have chased the both of them all over the planet. Now Ann still has the looks but they're both really talented.

  • ann is total hot snatch here!!

  • A very unexpected find! Love the Neville version and am a great Heart fan as well. Wow. Thanks!

  • A very expected find! Love the Neville version and am a great Heart fan as well. Wow. Thanks!

  • fantastic melody..... I like ... I like heart since long time back...

  • as the 80's came in so did Heart's change in fashion, music and style.(Ann and Nancy were perming it up here in 81 like so many other glamorous leading rock ladies) Love the remake of this old soul hit! Her voice is just smoldering! Heart was too underrated. I love the hell out of them!

  • awsome!!!!!! ANN RULES!

  • Annie has the sexiest voice ever.

  • Ann is the best!!

  • nancy que hermosa eres , por dios!!!!! i love you ....since the first time i saw you.....i feel something inside...

  • i love the ending.

anns dancing with a guy but then it goes to nancy dancing with her guitar:)))

  • buen comentario..si comparto

  • This was their Stray Cats era, when they seemed to be just an oldies act.

There were a lot of odd covers on the Greatest Hits/Live album, like this one and "Unchained Melody." And for their next US television appearance in '82, they did an Elvis medley on the David Letterman late show.

    What were they thinking?

  • They were thinking that by 1981-82 they had the clout magically to do whatever they wanted. They were right.

  • Um, right. So they wanted to magically sell less and less records every time out and magically get dropped from their record label?

That's some real Harry Potter shit right there.

  • Tell it Like it Is was Heart's highest ranking single on the Billboard charts at that time. So, although it's not my favorite Heart song, I guess it made some sense to record it. As for the Elvis medley... yeah, I got nothin'.

  • this song is still tight.. it's held up damn good.. you rock Ann

  • Ann at her absolute best!! she kills me, brings back a massive memory rush!

  • nobody got pipes like her!

  • Oh MAN she is singin the FUK outta this track, especially towards the end and 'outro'!!Magic/bliss/great and every other cliche that could be said about this track (and BAND too!!) except in this case every one of them is absolutely TRUE!!Wickedly good...A+

  • ann kicks serious ass..

  • How many times can you fall in love with one woman? Annie, you slayed me again...

  • So very pretty......and true..

    tyR4share

  • He's playin the crap outta that guitar...WOW!!Brilliant track and sung brilliantly too...the 'high voltage' vocals at the end are thrilling...awesome!!A+

  • Oh i jus LOVE their interpretation of this track an miss thing is saangin fo the GAWDS!!!!Yessir...24k ALL the way with this...A+

  • @TheMrMarilyn And, it was all done live.

  • @SuperNewsJunky Nope, it was definitely lip-synched. I've heard the original studio recordin' enough to know. Billboard's #87 song of '81. Heart hit #8 pop, #43 AC, in Bilboard. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg I stand (sit) corrected. Thank you.

  • Ann is lovely here. Well, maybe smoldering is a better word.

  • Oh MAN...this track is the fukkin dogs BOLLOX without a shadow of a doubt and Miss Nancy is singin for the GODS!!Awesome...A+

  • it's totally lip synched, but who cares.

she has a great rock and roll voice

  • In fact, she's in the Top 5 vocalists in the entire history of rock of roll. Two others are Paul McCartney and Gregg Allman. The other two are whomever you want.

  • this one is lip synched... unless there is a boom mic over head. also, this is EXACTLy like the studio version. it si lip synched, but anne DOES sing this song live very well. being a singer is pretty rough after you've been on the road for 2 years. sometimes artists lip synch for this reason. i ca certainly understand so i won't bag on singers who CAN sing. it's the ones that CAN"T and are nothing but studio products (hello, beyonce?) that are so annoying.

  • LIP SYNCH! I'm a singer and I've listened to the original recording enough to know that this "live" version is a lip synch.

  • Ann sings this song with so much conviction and passion! I love their blazer and white shirts with Ann's red carnation butoneer. Of course Ann the magic woman Wilson makes every song the best song when her magical vocals are applied.

  • that is a beautiful song

  • Ladies and gentlemen ..... Ann Wilson.

  • Love this version of "Tell It Like It Is" from Heart. Ann sounds great belting out the vocals on this one.

The original was from Jackie Wilson.

  • go johnny, go,go...

  • Great tune. Great band.

  • Oh hell yeah!

  • Still applies, doesn't it?

  • awesome

  • Thats just what I needed!!!!!

  • wow!!!

  • thanx for the info ethergirl. This song is a lost classic.Great vocals in this song.

  • Was this song ever released as a single? I'm surprised this get rarely played. With the exception of magic man, this is by far Heart's best song

  • I just looked it up, yes it was a single, B side was "Strange Euphoria" which I don't know. Yes this is one of their better recordings, though they didn't write it, its a cover of an older song, first done by Aaron Neville.

  • "B side was "Strange Euphoria" which I don't know."

You're not missing much. It's a weird song with goofy effects. I know it cuz I love Heart and had to hear it all. But trust me, it's not their best stuff.

  • Part of "Strange Euphoria" was a mock of disco. I think that's why it's so strange. I don't think they meant it as a serious piece of work.

  • Yes indeed, it is. I think it is my favorite Heart song, in a tie with Crazy on You.

  • Neville sounds like a weeneie when he sings - this song or any other; he has a "weenie" voice!

  • OMG! i find it hilarious when Ann grabbed Nancy on the shoulder (01:56)

    I don't know why....Lol

  • hahahaha. me too!

  • I like it better for sure than the Neville Bros.

  • So do I, but it's such a great song that I still really enjoy the Neville Brothers version too. It's a win-win situation.

  • this is a great song.first time i've heard of this song since 1981.

  • Love Heart, thanke~

  • Two classy sisters. Thanks spaceboots5. They bested the Nevilles on their act. Whatta ya think?

  • lol great song....but her lip synching is off at points. They have a live version on YouTube...go watch that if u want to see how REALLY good she is live! Yeah! Go Ann!

  • When I first met my husband, this is his favourite song.

It will always reminds me of him. Great song and great

    rendition by Ann Wilson!

  • The horns you hear is Tower of Power. The horns you see are not TOP.

  • AWESOME...Ann really belts it out...much better than the original

  • You have the best voice I have ever heard in my life.JW

  • Ann Wilson you are the best.

  • No one beats Dreamboat Annie. Nada One.

  • No one can do what Ann Wilson can do behind the mike.

  • ive got to agree with u on that 1 (note name).
