  • @xXxlolxXx52 your thee dumbest person i know do it sound like michael jackson

  • As a "Classic R&B Rare Oldies 60's-80's" buff I must note that "Mr. Postman" is by the MARVELETTES. Our Legendary R&B artists worked hard for the hits that made them household names. It's incumbent upon us to make sure we're accurately representing their music & history when we pass it along. Peace, Power & Purpose!

  • I'm old enough to have seen the Shirelles and the Marvelettes back in the day, when they were cranking out hits and this is the Marvelettes with Gladys Horton singing lead.

  • @provital5 Wow! I'm so jealous!!

  • ok best version outside of this is the Beatles

  • This is not the Shirelles...this is the Marvelettes

  • It's the Marvelettes version.

If I'm not wrong, The Shirelles never did that version... I think is what EP is trying to say.

    Anyway... enjoy!!

  • youtube picks it up as The Four Tops - It's the Same Old Song

  • As I see others have already posted the fact that this is the Marvelettes and not the Shirelles I'm not sure if this was 1962 but if it wasn't it must have been released at the end of 1961 and I was 12 when I bought this record thanks for the posting regardless

  • RIP Gladys Horton, who was just a kid when she sang lead on this. She cut some terrific stuff for Motown, and I saw her on stage a few years back She was fantasic, but God knows who the other "Marvelettes" with her were. Far too young to be the original girls.

Gordy treated this group very badly in favour of the Supremes and Ms Ross, so no wonder he lost so many great acts. He made his money and ripped off so many artistes at Motown

  • why can't you learn to spell, aristaphat21

  • @nicklabropoulos what r u talking about? Who is lame enuff to spell everything out..........? I do not need to learn anything but what u meant by such a meaningless uncontributory comment.

  • I can remember when the sound of this reflected it self in an era of music, with meaning, there was unity. By the end of the 60’s my parents divorced. I would get tossed back and forth from Dad to Mom house. This 45 I would always play after the post man left with each address with no letter.

  • Drummer is Marvin Gaye!

  • @DarklyDeceived We have a couple of things in common

  • This is the Marvelettes. They recorded this in April 1961 and released it that August. Please don't be continuously ignorant and credit the wrong artist.

  • What singing group sang this sweet song that goes like "Oaks from acorns grew, one and one make two, I believed it all, didn't you? " Hope to find that one...

  • @xhalloweene1 Try "Googling" the lyrics - the same lines you posted here. Hope you find it.

  • @CheckMate657879 I'll do that. Thanx 4 the answer.

  • @CheckMate657879 Hi! CheckMate657879 ... The moment I saw your msg I did it rightaway. With just one search I found it on Google at International Lyrics Playground. It was the Sandpipers who sang the song. You helped me ! THANK YOU !!!

  • @sjoara

  • Like CheckMate said, this isn't the Shirelles, it's the Marvelettes!

  • Thanks for the upload, Philly, but these are the Marvelettes, NOT the Shirelles. This song was one of the first Motown (though not on the Motown label) to make to No. 1. It also took almost four months to do so (and it stayed there just one week).

  • nice

  • Thanks for the memories...great time, greatest music

  • The marvelletes;;&&_I Like the techno remixx 2:)

  • i love the lead voice..

  • I recorded some music about a year ago because I love the oldies sound alot so drop by anytime and give a listen or when you have time "Keep The Oldies Alive"

  • Thank you for the good old song.

  • GREAT GROUP !! And - This is classic late 50s / early 60s R & B style rock music. To anyone out there : does anyone know who wrote this great song ?? Could easily be a Lieber & Stoller composition, I'd hazard to guess, by the sound & character of it.

  • i love this song

    and its TIMELESS

  • I couldn't say more haha =D

  • didnt members of the marvelletes end up being part of the shirelles?

  • You are aware how unreliable wikipedia is aren't you? Don't you know that anyone can add to or change the information on there? What someone thinks they know and what actually is are two completey different things.

  • this is not the shirelles this is marvellettes

  • the original singers was the shirelles learn your music history

  • This is The Marvelettes singing this song... they're a Motown group.... learn your music history.

  • @jermainel84 THE SHIRELLES NEVER RECORDED THIS SONG. this is THE MARVELETTES, Motown's first successful girl group. It was released on Motown's TAMLA subsidiary label. (the same label that THE MIRACLES, STEVIE WONDER, and MARVIN GAYE recorded for). The SHIRELLES recorded for Scepter Records. THE MARVELETTES were led by GLADYS HORTON and WANDA YOUNG-ROGERS. GLADYS led this song. SHIRLEY ALSTON-REEVES was lead singer for THE SHIRELLES.
