The problem with celebrities voicing political opinions is that they are uneducated, and unreasonably biased. The ones who don't preach their opinions are the people who are probably not retarded. Go Fall Out Boy!
I really admire that politics are obviously important to the members of Fall Out Boy, even if they don't try to "educate" people. The way they talk about things here shows that they're actually interested in the world around them, and not just in being "famous" and "rock stars", which is a refreshing departure from all those reality TV show musicians that have been foisted on us in the last years.
I don't agree with their view either... I'm still a fan of their music... I just wish that "celebrities" wouldn't use their influence to get their fans to vote for the candidate they support... It annoys me when a celebrity sits there publicly endorsing one candidate over the other, because wether they realize it or not...some people go OH I'M GONNA VOTE FOR HIM CUZ (insert celeb name) IS VOTING FOR HIM.. instead of using their brainds. and look where that's gotten us now!
I mean, i'm not saying celebrities endorsments are the only reason Obama won... I'm just saying, if celebrities hadn't been so overly vocal about wanting him to win, more people woulda used their brains to choose the best candidate/the lesser of 2 evils..
I agree with you on that. The fact that some people are ignorant enough to vote for a presidental canidate based on which celebrities like that person really almost makes me loose faith in the human race unfortunately.
While it's true that some people will base their votes on what celebrities say, I don't think that this should stop celebrities from speaking out, because those same people would base their votes on what other people say anyway. They'd base their vote on what friends or collegues say, or on whose TV ad they like better.
Celebrities speaking out, on the other hand, might convince some young people that caring about politics is cool and important, which might make them actually think about stuff.
I love this song I was looking for the ringtone forever cuz I need to have this on my phone I finally found it at DownloadEveryTone . com if u would like to get it

These guys got their opinions from bigger celebrities, do they even know anything about Obama's Policies? They don't even know what the fuck hes about! If you were to ask them what they thought about any of Obama's policies, they would say, "I think he was the best candidate". Fucking sheep.
Atleast Stumpy keeps his mouth shut. Stumpy is absolutley right it is not their place to tell people who to vote for it is their place to use their influence to get people to vote.

Who cares wat they sound like live, if you havent noticed every band or singer sounds bad live.
If a well known band is telling kids to be more interested in politics, why be angry ? They might Just change a childs views. I think its a good idea to express just how interesting politics can be so that children can grow up knowing that Their vote makes a difference. Atleast they wont waste it and they will have a better understanding.

I agree with iTzNine on this one. Politics should not be discussed by these jerkoffs. They should probably learn to play their instruments first (have you ever heard them live??) before they start delving into commentary careers.

Umm, apparently you're attempting to answer a question that I didn't ask. And so what if they're influential? That's part of the problem -- idiots who can hardly put two words together actually have the power to influence the youth on political matters. They couldn't play their way out of a paper bag, but they're politically influential? Kids are so dumb.
Excuse me but politics applies to all of us in a democracy and not men in suits. As a woman that is a totally misoginistic, sexist, homophobic and stupid comment. No matter what your occupation you should talk politics.
That's a stupid thing to say. Do you want your doctor talking politics to you? Your professors (who have control over your grades)? Cops? Ministers? It's a terrible idea for people to talk politics while on the job. Think about something before you say it. Oh, I'm sorry -- was that offensive? I mean, with you being a woman and all.
Pete Wentz is allowed to talk about anything he wants because he's good looking. If he wore a suit, would it be okay then? ;) And it's the "men in suits" that are the ones you should WANT to shut up already!

Actually, America ISN'T technically a democracy.
It's a Rebublic.
Because, not EVERYONE has equal voting rights.
And a Democracy means EVERONE has equal voting rights. No matter how OLD or anything such as that. There is no true Democracy in the world.
XxTwilightLover73xX 3 years ago 4
Pretty much the most democratic country ever was Germany before the Second World War (Obviously before Hitler).
