My grandfather owned the home before your Mother purchased it. Ed & Louise Perkins were my grandparents and restored the carriage house to a carriage house. We just took my mom by there yesterday to see it! We have lots of wonderful memories from visiting them during the summer time (we lived in Palo Alto). Nice to hear your mom lived there for 30 years! My grandparents spent all of their time renovating it and furnishing it with antiques!
My mother owned this house for 30 years. My father bought it in 1974 for $77,000. The exotic nature of the garden is due to my mom having been president of the UCSC arboretum. In the dining room where the two buffets are standing (on the right) used to be a fireplace. The chimney crumbled in the 89 earthquake and was removed. The ceiling in the front entry had more decorative trim on it, but was also lost in the earthquake....
