  • Hi Mark. Happy new year mate. Nice to see you back on here. Keep them coming mate. All the best George in Ireland.....73's

  • i have 7 of these radios plus 2 2600 2 running the the 497 for 12 years 1 mobile the other base i get 40 to 45 watts on the usb on 10 meters all these years and never had a problem with both radios well i am not in the peak crap i herd the lincoln that has the mrf455 runs 75 watts that is the next radio i am trying to get

  • Any idea which transistor switches the radio to TX? mine stopped going in to TX after 15 years of use!!! perfect rx on it, tried all the usual things like a different mic etc. Mine also has a board installed to reject fm interfence on adjacent channels. great radio, it's been in a cupboard unused for years!!! I only ever used to run it with the power a quarter turn up for local use. People with cobras were amazed at a digital display in the early 90's...

  • mmmmmmmmmm another good ifo on my favorite radios but i wonder since the mrf 497 is available that gives out a little over 40 watts i do think that is a better buy i am not 100% sure the ones on the market are legit if they are i think it is better

  • @manonhill12 let me tell you that a friend of mine tried one against a 497 as saw no increase in power and as for 40watts from one of these radios is to much! that's one of the reasons why i see so many for repair with fried output stages, the standard output should be 10watts AM/FM and 25watts SSB and i would think that was enough.

As for the 497 being available all i have seen are fakes!

  • in one of your next videos, can you please go trough how do you set the bias?
