Leonard was an A-1 pick who wanted an immediate rematch but made Duran and Hearns wait 8 years for deserved fights. Your description of a bitch fits Ray to a tee, Quit against the legendary Camacho and then had the nerve to make excuses for it. Duran kicked Rays ass in the only one of their fights that mattered.

Considering Leonard was retired for virtually most of those 8 years based on an eye injury,he wasn't in a position to be forcing anybody to wait - not least a quitter who disgraced himself and didn't deserve a third fight at that point.Your idol is notorious for excuses,so I wouldnt bother criticizing leonard for making them.And no,apart from getting slapped around,Leonard did not quit against camacho - he never had a quitters mentality...unlike some.

2nd fight when Duran did get close he got nailed with counterpunches off the ropes..

First fight Duran started strong and Ray finished strong...Check the scorecards. Also backing someone up doesnt mean you are landing. 2nd half of the first fight Ray is landing the more solid punches from round 8 thru 15

Its obvious some ppl did not watch prime Ray Leonard. His prime was not the Hagler fight. He was only about 50% of his former self in that fight and coming off a 5 year layoff.

147 pound Ray Leonard 1978-1982 fought majority of his fights flat footed and went for the knockout. Benitez, Ayub Kalule, Larry Bonds, Bruce Finch, Davey Boy Green, Andy Price, Pete Ramzay

Ray was the aggressor and looking for the KO. He tried to knock Benitez out EARLY

All Ray had to do was back up and use seperation and his reach and counter. He made the mistake fighting chest to chest. As a taller fighter with the reach you want to get proper seperation and counter when they charge in.

Watch the 8th round of the 2nd fight when Ray begins to settle down. He is in front of Duran but using his reach with the jab, keeping seperation so that he can get his shots off counterpunching. Ray worked on countering in training for the 2nd fight

Plus, quality of oppisition/did they fight the man in his prime, etc... but I think leonard got lucky a lot and he didn't really fight after 82, he was 4-2-1. After 82 and he shoulda been 3-3-1 hearns beat him in 89 and hagler drew w/ him in 87. That's why I think he's overrated, if hearns had a better chin, it wouldn't have been a contest between him and srl, it would've just been an ass drubbing (opinion... can u tell I don't like srl? @Afro911Man and by the way I think all combat sports are great just the way they are but IMO I love boxing more than any other combat sports because I grew up with it and it has the longest and richest histories and great sportsmans such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson. I think MMA is a great sport and all but IMO none of the MMA fighters came close to being as big as Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson or even Joe Louis.
