Even if not religious they are at least ten good suggestions. I remember when oral sex, adultery, ladies wearing pants were all illegal in our state. I'm a Christian and I don't think I have the right to tell you what to believe, but I would like to tell you something without starting a religious debate. Our laws are not really based on the Ten Commandments, but they're good standards to live your life by whether you're a Christian or not.

Being an atheist has made me more tolerant, not less. My heart is much softer now. In the many debates I've had about religion, I've mostly been threatened and cured at by religious people, not atheists. Religion divides people.

no rape is not a death penalty crime in the U.S. Slavery in the bible is not slavery as we know it today. Back then they didnt have 9-5 and they didnt have cars. America was in no way founded on Biblical principals. Freedom of religion was never a Christian(or Islamic) principal, historically speaking. Most of the Founding Fathers were deists and emphasized a separating between church and state. And if morals and ethics didn't change with time, then slavery, woman as chattel, and child labor would all be part of our modern culture. No one today really gets their morals from the bible. Or do you put people to death for working on the Sabbath?

I disagree with '#6 Thou Shalt Not Kill'. (I don't disagree with the commandment, I suppose I had to agree with something in the Bible sooner or later, simply by the Law of Averages.) So because mankind doesn't follow it or overtime altered the strength of those moral rules, doesn't mean they weren't principle in the creation of ours. We fight against or desire to be sinful and selfish. These 10 laws were to point out just how much, and we will be judged by them with our blood and soul. Christ's love took the blame for us.

Agnostics are just people who are afraid to commit. As an atheist I say there is no evidence for a god, so I am 99% sure there isn't one. But I'm always open to new data. The Gospel is not hard to understand intellectually. Man doesn't want to believe in God or submit to Him because they don't want to be accountable to Him.

America was NOT founded on Biblical principles. Quite the opposite. Democracy and freedom of speech are not mentioned in the Bible, which is full of theocracy, slavery, and punishment for being contrary.

Many people in the American South used the Bible to justify slavery. And the Bible does, in fact, condone slavery. If the moral and ethics of 19th century America hadn't changed we'd still be a slave state. The same can be said of child labor and women's rights.
My religious studies teacher (One of three, they're thankfully not all like this) who is also a reverend tried to tell me that everyone believes in the 10 commandments (implictly: THEY'RE TRUE), because if they didn't they would be in prison. Perhaps you weren't paying attention when I crushed that argument. Religious children sometimes grow up to be atheists. Like I did. Religion, or the lack of it, isn't genetic. It's not passed on in the DNA. Many children grow up and outgrow their childish beliefs (religion). So it doesn't matter what religion the parents are. I know an Iranian-American who's happy to be rid of Islam and is an atheist now.

Even if not religious they are at least ten good suggestions. I remember when oral sex, adultery, ladies wearing pants were all illegal in our state. So I guess as we slide down hill many of the laws that reflected the ten commandments will be removed from the books. One thing believers and non-believers can agree on after reading the bible, mankind has not changed one bit in his nature. We do needs rules and laws or it all goes to pot. Just glad to be Jewish !

I'm a Christian and I don't think I have the right to tell you what to believe, but I would like to tell you something without starting a religious debate. Our laws are not really based on the Ten Commandments, but they're good standards to live your life by whether you're a Christian or not.

So you ussually worked on someones farm, and in return you recieved money, food, and property. now the word slave has a different conutation to it.. You shoudl do a little more research. And rape is not condoned in the bible, I just told you it was punishable by death.

I'm all for mockery or parody of just about anything societal, religious, political, etc. The Simpsons and South Park are possibly the boldest and best example of this type of humor. I just did not find this particularly clever, smart or insightful. It just one man's opinion.

America was in no way founded on Biblical principals. Freedom of religion was never a Christian(or Islamic) principal, historically speaking. Most of the Founding Fathers were deists and emphasized a separating between church and state. And if morals and ethics didn't change with time, then slavery, woman as chattel, and child labor would all be part of our modern culture. No one today really gets their morals from the bible. Or do you put people to death for working on the Sabbath?

I disagree with '#6 Thou Shalt Not Kill'. (I don't disagree with the commandment, I suppose I had to agree with something in the Bible sooner or later, simply by the Law of Averages.) The US government kills people all the time, at least they did the last time I checked. I assume they still execute some of their criminals (the only Western country to do so).
I'm not a Christian but I disagree with capitol punishment, does that make me a better Christian than US Christians who support execution?

the bible is one of the only piece of liturature that has withstood the test of time. it was written over 4000 years ago. it hasn't changed. when scribes copied it, if they made more than three mistakes they had to throw out the manuscript. how many religions tell you that you only have to believe to be saved? only 1. christianity. every other one says that you have to earn your way. Funny, somewhat.. but the premise is wrong, Imho. Our legal system is based on many legal systems, primarily Judeo-Christian Bible & the ten commandments. So because mankind doesn't follow it or overtime altered the strength of those moral rules, doesn't mean they weren't principle in the creation of ours. We fight against or desire to be sinful and selfish. These 10 laws were to point out just how much, and we will be judged by them with our blood and soul. Christ's love took the blame for us.

i didn't see any real fun-making towards your god-thing. just a pretty straight-forward explanation of how american law is not based on your god-thing's rules.
if you make fun of fairy tale creatures, nothing bad happens. and this hell place is nothing but a scary story to make children (whether young or old) behave and do as they're told.

Hmmm...almost all of your videos are anti-God. I wonder why.....the Bible says it's because you love your sin....The Ten Commandments that you mock are the very standard that God will use to measure you and everyone else. Repent of your sin and trust in Jesus Christ. He was the only one who never sinned, the only one qualified to offer Himself as a perfect sacrifice for your sins. Sin is fun for a season, but is appointed a man once to die, and after this the judgment. God bless you.

Where the hell in my videos do I advocate sin? People can be moral without religion. And before you get off promoting your god, first offer me evidence that your god is real. There are thousands of gods in human history. Why is your god the one true god? You cannot answer that question.

The creation itself testifies about Him. You can't point to one painting that didn't have a painter, and one building that doesn't have a builder. Just because you haven't seen him, smelled him or touched him, doesn't mean He doesn't exist. Creation is proof that there is a creator.
The Bible is God's inspired Word. How does a book written by over 40 authors over a period of 1500 years read like one book? Because it was the Spirit of God that wrote it. You won't find any errors in it.

Just the first 5 books of the Hebrew Bible (the Torah), conventionally attributed to Moses (who in fact may never have existed), contain enough differences in style and usage that historians generally agree they had at least 2 and possibly 3 authors.

If the Bible is God's Word, and it's not hard to prove it is: (I challenge you to find a mistake in it), then the search stops there. You have incredible value to God, that's why Christ died. But if you refuse to repent and trust in Him, there will only be a fearful expectation of wrath, and it will be deserved, because of your sin and rebellion against Him.

Excuse me, but where exactly is your proof that the Bible is the Word of God? From what I can tell, its just a bunch of inconsistent myths made up by a weak and pathetic group of people. I don't see how someone who, were they around today would probably be equated with bin Laden, is a credible source. I'm not an atheist or anything, but you're a fool to believe that the Jews created a perfect document containing the ultimate truth of the universe.

I'll tell you what the Bible says about you: It's your sin that keeps you from God. You love your lust, pre-marital sex, pornography, you name it. How about adultery? Jesus said lusting after a woman is the same thing because God cares about your thought life as much as your actions.

As a non-Christian, I loved all of these things, but just like I do, you have a conscience. God created that. The word means "with (con) knowledge (science)" Every time you lie or steal, or lust at a woman, use His name in vain..you know it's wrong. And you'll be held accountable when you stand face to face with God.

If morals and ethics had not changed over time we'd all be living in a horrible theocratic society with slaves. No sane person gets their morals from the Bible. It's full of terrible unreasonable punishments. Do you think death is a fair punishment for working on the Sabbath? Laws and morals in a democracy are debated and they do change, thank goodness. There's nothing reasonable about the bible.

Many people in the American South used the Bible to justify slavery. And the Bible does, in fact, condone slavery. If the moral and ethics of 19th century America hadn't changed we'd still be a slave state. The same can be said of child labor and women's rights.

My religious studies teacher (One of three, they're thankfully not all like this) who is also a reverend tried to tell me that everyone believes in the 10 commandments (implictly: THEY'RE TRUE), because if they didn't they would be in prison. I argued against him as you have and he admitted his error. It sucks that someone in the position to impart knowledge would say something like this.

Now, it's one thing to say, "Don't SCREW your neighbor's wife." But don't covet? Don't desire, don't ogle, don't even FANTASIZE about your neighbor's wife? That's not religion, it's thought control. Oh, I forgot -- they're the same thing.

You can't separate a religion from its believers. The teachings of Christ and the Bible are both irrelevant. Only the actions of Christians are important. And their actions have been and continue to be horrific. Christians happily used religion to justify slavery for over 1500 years. It was rational thought and democracy that put an end to the European and American slave markets. Even now the Pope contributes to the spread of AIDS because his stance on birth control.

Did Mao kill by himself? No. He had weak minded followers just like any religion does. Atheists talk about reason and thinking for oneself, which are the corner stones of democracy. Putting "faith" in a single person or god is the cause of much suffering. That includes a Pope, a Chairman Mao, or a Hitler.

Christians did not use the Teachings of Christ to justify slavery because Jesus never justified slavery.
The British ended the African slave trade unilaterally, they used Christianity to justfiy it. The KKK in America was crushed by Christians using Christianity to justify its marginalization.
The Pope is trying to insure the continuation of the species, something that I am happy to see lost on the Atheist Fundamentalists like yourself.

Perhaps you weren't paying attention when I crushed that argument. Religious children sometimes grow up to be atheists. Like I did. Religion, or the lack of it, isn't genetic. It's not passed on in the DNA. Many children grow up and outgrow their childish beliefs (religion). So it doesn't matter what religion the parents are. I know an Iranian-American who's happy to be rid of Islam and is an atheist now.
