I saw Randy perform in Dallas on 4/14/2011 with Glen Burtnik opening at Poor David's Pub. They both put on great sets and the finale was a performance of "A Day in the Life" and the "Abbey Road" suite. Just excellent with Randy doing Lennon and former Beatlemania "Paul" Glen doing...Paul complete with Hofner bass. It was a magical concert!
This and Who's Behind The door are just such thoughtful and though provoking songs. The harmony & Music is great also. Love Randy's voice !! I don't care what the critic's think of Synth's and thinking it sounds 80's Felix keep rocking them keyboards and creating these great backdrops for Randy's Voice and Guitar. Guy is probably the most overlooked talent in drumming. The snare drum you could set a watch to it is so dependable, punctuational, and not over done like so many other drummers.
Thanks to the great responses. The best way to check up with Zebra and Randy Jackson is by going to thedoor.com there's usually a lot of discussions and activity there. I just posted this video from a guy who put it there - just thought the power of utoob would be helpful. They are a great band and they still get together and play LI, NY and New Orleans, LA periodically (and sometimes make a jaunt down Texas way or out to the Midwest. Keep on ROCKIN!
Saw these guys live in 80.... One of the best bands I ever seen and still one of my favorites. Thanks ronbo11, people need to hear more music like this.
What a great song and video. This record came out in 2002. I didn't find out about it till 2007 & I listen to it often. This is the first time seeing this video and it gave me chills. Randy's writing on this record seems to have a darker side of sorts. He seems to be coming to that age when u start searching for the truth about life, death and God. "On your knees before you get too old.Count the cost before u lose your soul. Don't u question God before u die, Cos all u hear is how & never why".
This band is so under rated. You have to see them live to really know the talent. I have listened to them since 1980 and own everything they have done and after 3 decades I still put them as one of my top favorite bands.
Gentlemen, thank you for the music and the memories!
@timmcaskill You're welcome (sorry for the LATE reply) - and Yes I did see your excellent "Who's Behind the Door" video. You're a very good video director!
Come see Zebra at the St. Cletus Oyster Festival on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 8 p.m. 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna, LA 70053. Admission is FREE!!! Come early and bring your appetite, as there will be a huge variety of South Louisiana's favorite foods, draft and bottled beer, wine, daiquiris, and more.
One of the greatest bands of all time period!! My Zebra CD's are as cherrished no more or less then my Rush Triumph Zepp none!! They are blessed to be not forgotten!! Thank god because so many are.. Randy The Live CD is a Staple in my truck will never leave! Holds 6 CD 1 is for Zebra the rest is fot others!!
Moved from Long Island to Salt Lake City in 1993 and virtually wear out my Zebra CD's yearly. After all these years I just now discover releases that are new to my ears. Holy sh-t, it's like a time warp and I'm back at The Mad Hatter rockin to Zebra as a kid. Arabian Nights, Why and Light of my love are off the charts. Randy, Felix and Guy, thanks for the great memories and kickin tunes to keep me rockin in the Wild West. All the Best, Darin Paulus
