  • GET WELL, CHEF!

  • cut the bell pepper in half lengswise

  • To you who don't know Sake is what I remember drinking is Bamboo Liquor

  • @EpikGameTime Bamboo liquor is a Chinese Liquor; Sake is a Japanese Rice Beer; though, a quite potent beer at that. Most people call it Rice wine, but the brewing process is less reminiscent of wine, and more like beer.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle! G.I. JOEEEEEEEEE

  • @Nevario1 oh.. ok bro. ty

  • I love how they support Hikakin-kun!

  • i think japanese have different griddle, pan for every dish lol

  • I love it when he says 'strips'

  • lol i would laugh if the dog jump off from his seat

  • I love how he says 'salmon' xDD

  • @123matt567 Japanese people are so sharp, they don't need knives at all. They just show them for us foreigners so that we'll know how to cook.

  • Fish tweezers? Who knew? Learn something new everyday. Thanks. Now I just have to figure out where to get them. Or just maybe use regular old tweezers, that should will work.

  • her knife skills are actually ridiculously amazing

  • @lov3anonymous With an extremely well sharpened knife and some decent practice you can chop like a pro too! But of course Japanese cooks are obviously honed to cut and cook things rather well :P

  • Is there any non-alcoholic substitute for sake? Or can I simply avoid the sake?

  • @themyoify Heat will burn off some of the alcohol, with this relatively fast cooking I believe about 50% of the alcohol will remain. But the amount of sake used and serving sizes, makes it seem safe enough even for a teetotaller such as myself.

If you avoid alcohol for religious reasons, it's probably haram even if you consider 'Miram', a less alcoholic substitute. You'll miss out on the aroma and taste, but it'll probably be delicious anyway.

  • Chuck Norris cabbages

  • chicking, mushroomZz, slicisZz..

  • Francis is so cute! :D

  • now i understand why you wont find any obese people in japan ;D

  • @Octavideoz

    確かに魚と野菜だけど・・・これはかなり高カロリーな食べ物だよ?

  • @Octavideoz o.o;; uhhh sumo wrestlers?

  • @LittlexKisaxKun sumo wrestlers FORCE themselves to get fat

  • @Octavideoz well duh I'm just saying there are still fat people and japan

  • @Octavideoz Aside from the sumo wrestlers of course :P

  • @Octavideoz except sumos. :D

  • @Octavideoz Not only is their food great, but most large companies & schools have a weight expectation. So for example, you go to high school--where they have an annual check-up. You get weighed, & you're underweight/overweight. The nurse will let the people in the cafeteria know that you have to eat this & this, & you can't eat this & this. You have to exercise a certain amount, & so on. It's really great, actually. It keeps people healthy :D

  • @xichigopunk Oooh, that's really interesting! :0 Thanks for sharing. :3

  • What does the sake do to the salmon?

  • @Briandlam makes it drunk

  • @Briandlam Makes it taste good :) Like a marinade...

  • Just made and ate this. Fantastic dish. Trouble was cooking it for 6 people in one go.

  • I love this cooking show. The food is always very colorful and beautiful. I've even used a few of these recipes in my own kitchen. Also, that is the most well behaved dog I have ever seen.

  • I don't cook, but I just watch because I like Francis! XD

  • The final product looks so delicious, I want to eat it right now :)

This would be excellent over any type of rice.

  • Did anyone else notice that when she puts the salmon into the pan there is a white square that looks like a piece of paper towel stuck to one of the salmon fillets? You can see it starting at 1:28. Is it just part of the natural fat of the salmon, or is it really a piece of paper towel, and she just never noticed it? I hardly think that such a meticulous and precise chef would overlook this, or that her video editor would miss it either. It sure looks like a piece of paper towel to me, though...

  • @ScriptorObscura I noticed that too. But I think she removed that paper towel between scenes.

  • Comment removed

  • @ScriptorObscura its on both of the fish ... and i dont think its from the towel because look at the clip where it was introduced. you can see it was already there ... on both of the fish.

  • Notice: when she was frying, there was paper on the end of the first piece of salmon!

  • What kind of oil do you prefer for this dish?

  • @fuckinick I think , It's better to use oil which do not have rich flavor.

  • Aaah...like my mum cooks this all the time. Nice tho!

  • How old is Francis?

  • What does Chan Chan Yaki mean?

  • @Naruhel There is no certain explanation for the etymology. It is local food of coastline in Hokkaido.

  • I don't like salmon or much seafood, but I still enjoy watching these videos so much and they are great for things that I will eventually cook for my family! Oh, Puh-lease. It's nice of you to warn us about how terribly dangerous wild fish is to eat, but seriously. Are we gonna stop eating anything that's a wee bit dangerous for us? We wouldn't have anything left to eat, if we did. :P

  • Could you use other fish for this?

  • @kosmonaftx what is wrong with you? completely unnecessary.

  • FRANCIS: "Stack the [cabbage] leaves on top of each other, and cut into 2-inch strips."

In my pathetic, non-Japanese cabbage's case, that means just cutting it in half. :-/
