I know it's sacrilege, but I was never that much of a James Brown fan. He often sounded to me like directionless braggadocio, just sort of sloppy and loud. But this....this reminds me what he could do This reminds me of why he was the Great James Brown. Maceo Parker is amazing and I agree about the steady rhythm of the guitar . Very, very nice. This is real music. James Brown helped invent the foundations of a bunch of different musical genres, but he is often tossed aside as a overachiever. I mean really. Not to mention the dude could put on a show, a live show; something nobody can seem to do anymore. He didn't play all the instruments, but he could really bring out the best out of who he worked with, all to a wonderful musical peak. What a genius! Well I must also point out Maceo's amazing talent.
