  • i remember this! also remember when they changed the fgilling to the lighter nougat in 1993 which i actually liked. :)

  • i saw the original twenty years ago

i'm currently serving thirty years for mass murder and animal cruelty

if only they'd have the new version back then...

  • This is so much better than the SF version

  • smart old blue he's a clever cunt

  • oh shit i have a bag of milky ways

  • I love this advert, it always makes me smile (:

my mom said im like tha red car lol xD

  • I was watching Falling Down tonight, dozed, and this advert came on. I thought I was having some kind of flashback. I'm going to buy a Milky Way tomorrow for the first time in about 25 years

  • The brain is amazing isn't it? By clicking on this video I triggered long dormant memory cells that haven't forgotten a frame of this animation, or a lyric of the song. Yet I haven't even thought about this ad in 23 years!

  • im related to one of the designers of the original version of this......love it

  • They've cut out the "Because he knows it wont spoil his appetite." line now. It's very annoying.

Thanks for uploading this x x

  • What kind of cars are they? Reminds me of an old Plymouth...

  • If only there were more ads like this... :(

  • Damn all this "Politically correct" bollokin bullshit crap!! The re-make of this is utter turd!

  • Comment removed

  • I wouldve gone for the Milkyway And the other stuff

  • If it wasn't for seeing a print version of this in the Dandy around the same time, I'd swear I was nuts for remembering this. Probably because I'm from the US.

In any case, holy crap nostalgia.

  • me lil bros loves this x

  • Yess blue car i would off gone 4 the mikyway n all :)

  • this is better than the 2009 version

  • Ahhh :) This was my fav advert when I was little :D

  • What a classic advert! made in the days when the Milky way bar was a decent bar! its a shadow of its former self! the chocolates much thinner and the nougat is white and tasteless not the brown nougat it used to have.

  • the red car and the blue car had a race all red wants to do is stuff his face he eats everything he sees from trucks to prickly trees but smart old blue he took the milky way he's looking for a chocolate treat fluffy and light cause he knows it wont spoil his appetite oh no the bridge is gone old red can't carry on But smart old blue he took the milky way =)
  • who sang this?

  • @Cardie94 I don't know

  • Nigo82

Always loved this advert!! Don't really like the "newer" version of this ad in all honesty. Very catchy song too!!

  • This used to be my older brother's favourite advert when he was little, lol.

I like it too. :) I miss 2D animated adverts like this. Back then even adverts were animated the good, traditional way.

  • Why would they change "smart" to "good"? Who complains that stupid people are being left out? It's jsut admitting you're stupid!!!

  • Good ol blue car. :)

  • they brough this out again more recently didn they I love it how things like this take u back.

  • Lol got to love that song!

  • i used to sing this all the time when I was 6

  • I really like this commercial, the tune's very catchy. I'm not from the UK though.

  • most awesome advert ever!!!!!! LYRICS the red car and the blue car had a race all red wants to do is stuff his face he eats everything he see's from trucks to prikley trees but good old blue he took the milky way hes looking for a chocolate treat fluffy and light cuz he knows it wont spoil his apitite oh no the bridge is gone poor red cant carry on but good old blue he took the milky way
  • @banacafalatta It's smart old blue, but it does sound like that, and he sometimes IS good old blue.

  • fucking spaz go and suck on some tofu while i enjoy a milky way

  • @hornyboris Wow! nice guy.

  • @bigheadmonkeyboy i am nice it only took a year to reply

  • were can i download the song from

  • i wanna know too!!! i really want this song!

  • i love this cant stop sining it think its great xxx

  • They are certainly not

  • Brings back memories, can't beileve i remember this i was only 6...lol

  • thats my favourite advert

  • I never knew they do this with adverts. That they bring them back after 20 years.First example I've seen of this.

  • but in the 2009 one there is no dounut man :-(

  • Probally because it says "EAT ME Doughnuts"- Heaven forbid U cant be that politically incorrect in Britain nowadays, Every cunt will turn into stone!

  • glad they brought this advert back

  • LOL, makes me feel 15 again.

  • Makes me feel 7 LOL ! :D LOVE IT

  • i remember this, omgggggggggggggggg, hehe

  • Groovy

  • love it,

old but cool and funny :D

  • OH NO! The bridge is gone! Old red can't carry on! ah memories :)

  • This was my favourite tv add ever!! Me and my brother used to sing along all the time. I have it recorded on a video at the end of star wars oh so many years ago!

  • love this ad. they only chaged the timings really in the ong, and replaces "smart" with "good"

  • All the changes are:

Cut off about 4 secs at the start

The clip of Red eating the donut sign is cut...

... and so the timing of the 2nd and 3rd line are shorter

Smart Ol' Blue has been renamed to Good Ol' Blue

approx. 1 sec of footage of the plane flying in is cut...

... and so the 4th and 5th line is slightly overlapped

'it won't spoil his appetite' is changed to 'it's somethin that'll taste just right'

the Dinnertown bridge scene is sped up slightly

    Dinnertown sign renamed light town

  • Lunchville is re-named Playville too.

The wording on the sign at the end has changed too.

  • OK, I sit corrected on second for second. I like the ad, I liked it first time around. But can you imagine the tissue meeting? "Tell you what guys, let's dust off the old one and make the odd slight change"

I'm not saying the ad agency is at fault, maybe it's the marketers at the client end but these past few years ONLY the Barclaycard ad has passed muster, IMHO. See the Berocca ad as proof postive of ad-men just ripping off other's ideas.

Ads like Hamlet do indeed seem like from another age!

  • Favourited! lol

  • would you ike a mint?

  • i'd love a mint!

  • They've not copied it second for second. they've changed the words and shortened it by about 8 secs. Go look at the new version if you don't believe me....

  • yeah, they replace spoil his appetite with tastes just right... and they cut a few secs of the start

  • Love it!

  • The ad agency in question really ought to hand it's head in shame. 20 years on and all they can do is copy the original one second for second ...they should innovate, not regurgitate!

  • What's wrong with bringing back old adverts? The old ones ere better than new ones.

I'm still waiting for them to bring back the Mullerice "this is the captain of your ship" advert :)

  • the whole point of redoing old adverts is so it appeals to people who go... i remember that when i was little, rather than just ignoring the advert... if you saw something that gave you memories you wouldnt just ignore it would you?

  • I hate the new version.

    80S VERSION FTW!

  • love this ad

    the song is =]

  • this ad just came on tv!!! it was on Dave =D

  • best song ever lol :D

  • yum puffy and light and i wont spoil my apetite :P

  • im 19 and the second to last youngest aT my job and im the only one who can remember this!!!!! quite funny really- or sad depending on how you see it.

    love the advert!!

  • I've hated milky way's ever since I bought one which had a sell-by-date of March 1983 in 2006.

  • surley the pakaging was different !

  • I didn't really notice until I opened the wrapper, the chocolate was pure white and tasted like cardboard, then I looked at the date on it.

  • why do you think they're doing this again

  • that

    is

    scary

  • The red car and the blue car had a race

all red could do was stuff his face,

    he eates everytihng he sees

    from trucks to prickly trees

but gold old blue he took the milky way

hes looking for a chocolate treat,

    fluffy and light

because he knows it wont spoil his appitie

OH NO! THE BRIDGE GAS GONE! POOR OLD READ CANT CARRY ON!

But gud ole blue he took the milky way

  • thats completely wrong

  • no its not.

  • Actually it's fair enough that they had to change it. This ad might not make much difference but all those maltesers ads about how it was the lighter treat than ordinary chocolate had no basis in fact and were blatantly misleading. It's easy for companies to sell stuff if they can lie about its properties.

This has nothing to do with "political correctness". People spout that term like it's going out of fashion, but tbh few of them know what it actually means.

  • this song just keeps on playing in my mind,if you listen to it a copple of times

    love it.....!

  • it was a tasty tune for the first week then it got on my tits after that, could never get it out of my head, low and behold 20 years later i'm sat watching TV and it comes back on, i thought mmm haven't herd this in years, exactly a week later it was doing my head in again, talk about bad flashbacks ROFLMAO

  • this has been re-released in england

  • They have also changed the won't spoil his appetite lyrics too.

  • this is my childhood

  • It's probably politically correct madness again, i.e. it's not possible to claim eating chocolate is the smart choice. That's why "coz he knows it won't spoil his appetite" has become "coz he knows it's something that tastes just right". No doubt, nowadays, some retard would claim if you do eat enough it would technically spoil your appetite! Also the sign at the end has changed for the same reasons. Very sad but that's Britain today!

  • I agree, This version's better than the new one. Fed up with all this nannying.

  • hahahahahaha i love this advert

    catchy tune

  • lol

  • haha saw this again for 1st time in years!!!...love it

  • OMG epic remember this when i was 4 :O 1989 how time goes so fast loved this ad even had the chrismas song of them :D

  • I LOVE YOUR MUM

  • I knew I wasn't going mad! I knew it was 'smart old blue' not 'good old blue'! Great to see an old classic back!!

  • my mum hasn't noticed about the word changes, but unfortuunately she can still remember the words. And she sings them. Loudly. In public. Really catchy though.

  • i completely forgot about this awesome advert

  • It's not just the words; they've changed most of the signs in the background as well! For example, "Dinner Town" is now "Light Town", and the blue sign at the very end is different. Plus they've cut out bits of the ad to make it shorter :(

I wonder what was wrong with the original signs and such?

  • Great to see the "new" ad. The sign at the end and the lyric in the middle have been altered as the company aren't allowed to say that "it's a snack that you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite!!"

  • I just saw it again on tv today.... stopped what I was doing in shock lol. Annoyed at the word changes in it though, I thought I was going crazy when I was singing something else at first.

Good to see this old classic back.

  • oh i didn't think the words have changed!

    omg this is so catchy

  • love it!! cant believe the words have changed though\

  • just saw this on the tv could not believe it when it came on but mars changed some of the words

  • great advert!

  • i know !!!! couldnt bellive it myself, was singin all the words!! lol

  • why were they eating during a race?

  • i remember this advert from when i was a kid,its recently come back

  • man i have been thinking about this ad for years, thank you!

  • i can e mail you the mp3 if you like

  • Its back on TV!!!!!

  • Lyrics changed cause the ad has been shortened to 30 seconds rather than 40 seconds. Nothing to do with political correctness, more so it still rhymes/is catchy and fits to current advert length rules.

  • No. Same no of syllables. Therefore changed because the times they are a changing!

  • So happy its back on TV.

I went crazy, I loved this ad, I was texting people and everything, nobody I know remembers it.

  • Just saw it on TV. I'm drunk at the mo, so I thought I was going completely bonkers. my day has been made.

  • Like someone else said, I just saw this again on TV last night! Weird to see it again but now I have the song in my head! :D

  • I JUST saw that on TV like 4 minutes ago! It was weird!!! They'll breing back the old BranFlakes ad next! "They're tasty, tasty, very very tasty!" You know u remember it!!!

  • yeah same!....just seen it. screwed with my head....aint seen that ad for time.

  • This advert has just recently re-appeared on our TV screens!

  • i know im so glad, i love this add and the other one aswel were he eats the saturn rings lol

  • THIS AD IS BACK ON TELLY, LOL.

  • Cars don't eat chocolate!

  • your a mong,

  • this brings me back!!!

  • Old times lol....

  • I used to love these - Mars Bars without the toffee. I never liked the white chocolate versions.

  • -sigh- the original milky way was so much better than the re-branded one, the ads were better too :)

  • The Flyte bar is the same as the old Milky Way.

  • WOW!! another blast from the past!

  • i feel like a milky way riiiggghhhttt now =D

now i got the song in my head

  • wow

  • aww i remember this ad ^^

  • I had a cassette tape with the full length version on that I played to death when I was a kid. Best commercial ever.

  • He ate it with the wrapper on. Tasty! :)

  • I still have both 'red car' and 'blue car' magnets on my fridge!

  • WOW GO BLUE! GO BLUE!... although my favorite culor is red

  • I think it's ironic that the car that's NOT eating the chocolate is the one that gets fat and can't jump the ravine!

  • Lol, I don't lets look at the two:

Blue Car: eats one milky way bar

Red Car: eats a cactus, a doughnut sign, a truck (and maybe some prickly trees?!?)

Which one do you think is heavier and thus would not manage the jump? :)

  • I must've been 5 when watching this and i've never forgotten this

  • Fantastic ! Havent seen this one for years

  • This advert is classic ^^

I remember seeing it when I was about 5.

  • i was about 7 when this was out and always rememberd feeling abit sick when the blue car downed that milky way with the wrapper still on lol!! Just seen it again now for the first time in 18 years and got that same sickly feeling ha ha!! Never forgot the tune tho :)

  • I can't believe i found this on here, I've been singing since i first saw it when i was four. I didn't realise other people still sang it like me, i thought it was only me! love it! :-)

  • wlecom to the club ;)

  • Lol, how coincedental (sp) so many people, all havn't seen it for 18 years! I wasn't around 18 years ago, (17 and 10months!) but I can see why it stuck in your heads!

  • I've had that ending melody in my head for the past 18 years. And I was only 4 when I first saw it. Sometimes I can't even remember what happened yesterday, shows how damn good the tune is.

  • My husband still sings this song on a regular basis, lol. Now i can show my daughter what hes on about, she thinks hes mad!

  • This is the best advert ever! I wish they would bring it back.. I just knew it as that car ad thing, been lookin to watch it for ages. Been 18 years since I've seen that advert, and I still remember the song!

  • Me too, and it's the first time I've seen in since I was seven :D

    (I'm now 25...)

  • I still remember the theme tune...Is that sad???

  • God I haven't seen this ad in about 18 years and still can sing along ha ha ha

  • Probably the catchiest tune in an ad, ever!.

  • who sings on this. It sounds like someone familiar.

  • this ad is great.bring it back to our tv's

  • can't believe i was just 3 when i saw this and i still remember it

  • wow i loved this advert! i still remember all the words.

  • wow i still remember the words to this advert. Its still great!

  • lol bet that fat truck red ate contained less calories than smart ol' blues milky way

  • Oh my goodness...I never thought that I would find this one here. This is one classic add that still often comes up in conversation when talking about the good old days. Always reminds me of when I was about 7 and I used to get excited everytime it was on

  • I cant remember the last time I saw that advert. Must have been about 4 or 5 when it was I saw it for the first time

  • Loved this ad. It used to annoy my brother that the red car lost, because red is his favour colour, except when it's a Formula 1 Ferrari.

  • awesome ad thanks

  • Ultimate Ad For Me, I Too Remember Every Word,I Was 6 Last Time I Seen It! U Star 4 Posting!

  • I was only about five when this came out havent seen it since until now but I never forgot the words possibly my favorite ad ever!
