I remember I use to always play this online and there were like two spawn points for each team and the opposing team would wait for you to spawn and kill you lol. What I use to do was drop a smoke grenade before I get shot

I haven't played this game since my headset broke like 4 years ago, don't know why I never bought a new one. But I always hated using the suppressor, due to the major lack of accuracy; always liked the M14 w/ laser and bi-pod; and I was boss at using the 203 and M79 at very long distances, none of that sissy close-range suicide 203 crap. This level and Waterwork, both full maps, were boss. And always loved defending the convoy with a really good team, and the demolition missions. Good times!!!

@sixshot4 you need to be close to you internet box (motem) and if you have the fat ps2 you need to get a network adapter and an Ethernet cord. Also you need to connect your cord to the network adapter and set up your account and your good to go.

What would you say is your default setup for weapons online?

M14 w/high scope, 226 w/laser, and smokes. Another is the SAW with foregrip and laser, with 9mm with no attachments, and HE's or smokes. Another is the HK5 with laser, 226 with laser, and HE's. I shift weapons a lot though, to adapt to each round.

No, because that would be lame. In single player, there is aim assist, where if the reticle is over the target (even a toe or hand), the bullet will auto-aim towards center mass, or the head if the enemy is close enough. Online, those cheat-like features are removed, so it's all about skill.

No, the longer suppressor decreases the max range since it does more to silence the weapon and hide muzzle flash.

i got a question... online, do u automatically get all the weapons like the stg and all those or do u have to unlock them via campaign?

If you play a socom 3 map on socom ca's game disc, you get everything from socom 3 for use in that map. If you play a CA map though, you only unlock what you've unlocked in the campaign due to badges and such.

Do people play more Socom3 or Combined Assault?

Combined Assault - since it includes all of Socom 3's online maps, map pack downloads (which are free now for everybody, and either game's registration is automatic, so no more credit card verification is needed). Combined Assault can play its Socom 3 maps with people actually playing Socom 3. The only difference is Socom CA doesn't have blood, so playing a S3 map will not toss the blood back in there if running from Combined Assault. That's it.

What did you use other than the M4?

Nothing. My connection is through ICS via my PC and it's wireless antennae, which requires USB2.0 on my PC to run at it's full speed. My PC is only USB1.0, so i'm actually at a speed disadvantage when playing online. My data is slightly laggier than most other players, so if I don't get the full drop on somebody, like if me and an enemy are right in front of each other, dead bang, and we both start firing, i'll usually die first as my hits register too late. I have to use the M4's fire rate too.

Using the M4 allows for a med' scope, sup' 2, and a fast fire rate. Since online missions allow infinite magazines, clips, and shells, I have to use that to my advantage. My lag in connection speed has to be made up for in tactics, such as suppressive fire (when silenced) that forces enemies to back away, so long as they don't know where the fire is coming from. In this video you'll see my spraying key areas enemies hide in, while my allies attempt to advance while covered.

Damn text limitations.

In smaller maps I often don't even use a scope, but opt for a foregrip and sup' 2 combo, or foregrip and laser combo. Pulled a lot of training without any scopes, and manage pretty well. In this map I stick with the med' scope as there are plenty of places for snipers to hide here.

When I do play directly from the modem/router, and not through ICS, the boost in speed, while previously playing in a lagged environment, works quite well in my favor.
