  • man my grandma loves this song she heard it when it came out awkward i said >.<

  • Great sound, scratches and all! Thanks for posting and Merry Christmas! DC

  • christmas is appoaching again, thought i'd come back for another listen...........i can close my eyes and feel how good it was to buy the album on christmas eve with money my gran had given me for christmas and rush home to play it.....it's funny sometimes how something takes you back you can almost feel your there. the smells , the excitement, the innocence of how we were as children.........if things were just as simple as they were back then!

  • I agree.... Christmas to me is MY MEMORIES of childhood years. I just LOVE listening to these old songs.. For me now sitting with a glass of wine or even a hot cup of tea and listening to these Old Christmas tunes while watching the lights on my Christmas Tree and if we're really lucky the Snow is lightly falling on the ground. Thank you for sharing :)

  • When it comes to Christmas with me, I much more enjoy the movies, music, and spirit of the holiday rather than the presents. Of course I love the presents, but there's something about the tradition and 'memorabilia' of Christmas that always makes me feel good.

  • Here it is almost March and I am still litsening to Christmas music. Not just any Christmas music however! Only the good stuff like this! Thanks so much for sharing. Thanks for the good old memories. Finding this on YouTube really made my day!

I LOVE your vintage elves in the background too!

  • @Sunsetmills Thank you very much for your comment. I have tons of Christmas like this posted, so I hope you'll find some more here to listen to.

  • I really enjoyed that, scratches and all. It takes me back to Christmas in the 60's and 70's. Thanks

  • @Manwithjeep Thank you!

  • listen to that cracklee..ahhhhhh. and im 18=].

  • I love records but my TT sucks its a crappy soundesign, I saw an ION Turntable at radioshack for $99.00 same cartride as he soundesign but MUCH better build quality and consistant speed!

I love the scratches and pops!

  • yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaa!!!! buckeroos!!!!!! it just isn't christmas for me even at 57 till ole gene sings here comes santa claus, and rudolph the red nose raindeer! I sure miss gene and roy.

  • I have the LP, I do know "TheFlicker98" also has the same copy on a 78. He played it on his GE Wildcat record player, and it sounds like crap when playing a 78 with an LP needle. I have the same record player that he has.

  • I sure do love this song by Gene Autry. I watched his movies as a kid.

  • Thank you so much for putting this on here- this is fantastic!!! THANK YOU!!!! This is the theme music of all my Christmas's as a small child and reminds me of how great my parents are!!

And thanks for making a grown man cry :-) Darn it!

  • >_> k-mart has this suck in my head

  • thanks so much for this, brings back so many memories of how christmas used to as a child...

  • @geminikev1 Thank you for tuning in. I'm glad I had this one to share. There's many more classic Christmas songs on my channels for your enjoyment too. Merry Christmas!

  • sometimes i wish that i had grown up in the era of records. i love hearing the scratchy noises and just the feeling of listening to an old song on a record player. i grew up with cassettes and cds and now there's digital music, but there's nothing like hearing music on a record player.

  • @pet0skey I do too sometimes, but I don't know if I would have all these great recordings if I did. I grew up with Lp's and 45's. My grandparents and great aunt had 78's and I always enjoyed hearing the ones they had. You're certainly right, there's nothing like hearing a record. Thanks!

  • @pet0skey My Dad a WWII vet &Mom 11 yrs his junior would stack up LP's on the record player and we would dance, sing, put Christmas decorations or just enjoy 1940's-1980's music depending what time of year it was. They records crackle because of the Dust. Keep them clean, store VERTICALLY, or they warp , the diamond sylus (needle) needs to be changed occasionally, Never leave the plastic wrap on the jackets, it expands/contracts & also will warp your albums! Enjoy making memories!

  • @pet0skey i just freakn love records too, especially Gene Autry,, my favorite cowboy/christmas song singer

  • Thanks for uploanding !

  • Cool! That record's in outstanding shape.

  • i saw singles up on the wall.

    do those skip?

  • @vinylloung Yes, they either have really deep scratches, or are cracked and unplayable. I don't like to throw them out though.

  • @althazarr they seem fine but the record you're playing is very hissy but great music to go with it!

i agree that the crackles in a record bring out it's age and anyways those singles look great.

    can you post them someday?

    Thanks!

  • A teacher at my school discovered that I collect records, and he gave me a box full of 78s today as a present. In all of those records, there was this one stashed in there. I can't wait to listen to it. =)

  • Written by Oakley Haldeman.

  • it was co written by gene autry

  • Yes, that is how it was legally set up between Gene Autry, Oakley Haldeman's business partner. That was indeed their legal agreement as business partners to appear as co-writers; in fact my grandfather Oakley Haldeman wrote many of Gene's songs for him, including all the lyrics & melody to Here Comes Santa Claus.

  • awesome. I never saw a '78 rpm record before only '33's and '45's. Man those '78's are spinning FAST!!!! Merry Christmas everyone

  • nice =)

  • loved this tune in the 50's and still do! I ordered the CD with this song, and many others, a couple of years ago and it is one of the ones we play on Christmas Day to initiate the grandkids!

  • This is awsome! Wonderful! Haven´t heard this for many years. Thanks a lot!

  • I had a copy of this record when i wasa small child but like most 78s it got broken. Yours looks like it is cracked too. Thanks for the memory. Hard to find turntables that will play 78s now days.

  • Yes, unfortunately it has a laminate crack. Thanks for your comment. 78 players are still readily available. It just depends if you want old or new. New ones can be found at Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy and other electronic outlets, but some folks say they don't sound as good. The ones I've listened to and the three I have sound fine to me. Older ones are plentiful on eBay and at thrift shops and you can find some great deals, but be prepared to make some repairs with some of those.

  • Love this song. I also remember one by Gene Autry , which I think was called "Christmas Candy" Do you have that one. I think that it was on the back of a more popular one.

Thanks for any information that you can give.

  • Yes this takes me back to when anything was possible Thanks and Merry Christmas

  • This is one of my all time favorites from my childhood. Thanks for your comment and Merry Christmas to you!

  • I do have a 1957 Motorola console hi fi in working order and a 1977 Zenith console entertainment center also in working order and both will play 78s. I am thinking more of todays high end turntables that typically play 33 1/3 and 45 only. I have 5 of them. I only have about 5 78s left out of probably 50 in my lifetime of 63 years. Loads of 45s and lps I still have as well as stereo prerecorded reel to reel tapes.

  • Ooh, I love consoles! The ones you ave sound really neat! I have three. A 60's Philco, a giant console with a '63 Fisher 500 C receiver and Garrard turntable, and a 1940's RCA Victor that needs some new tubes. I've got thousands of 78s and 45's and lots of Lp's and will be posting them on both of my channels as much as possible to share with everyone.

  • brings up memories of jammies with footies!

  • I don't think I ever had any of those . lol
