  • this a good activity to do with kids in photo workshop!

  • whats the song name??

    could u tell me?

  • You could duck tape the shutter open or something.

  • @s0nicsilver cant duck tape the shutter open... its inside the camera...

  • Cool ! I liked it . I don't have a dslr or an eos but do you think this can work on my canon s90 ?

    Reply soon , thanks

  • hey were can i find that cool flash light ?????

  • raving lol.

  • coool, did it in the dark and i think its cooler if u also make it in the dark

  • @LeoATV96 he did, just lighted things that he wanted lit at the end, with flash or lights

  • they dont move, they painted all of these in the dark first then stand there and pose. someone just turn on the light and off really fast and there u go. there's no secondary images

  • How come your arms not being blurry, if you're waving them around? :s

  • god bless cool

  • Anybody know how to make a nikon d60 flash only at the end of the exposure?

  • @kikodude310 :Check for the "flash sync" settings and set it to 2nd curtain.

  • now how come your bodys didnt blur? i see many of these where the bodys blur... great vid though im ganna try this out tonight... thank you =)

  • wait how did u get a clear picture of the people without them looking all blurred? i always end up looking blurred when i try

  • @Nightstrife911 : Try using the flash, either use a separate camera for the flash or use a flash.

  • I like the 2:34

  • Check out light painting love story!

  • aww. your son is cute.

btw im male too. but im not gay.

    love this video!

  • man are you from greece....?

  • Please someone tell me how to do this please?

  • "Im tired..." looool

  • Very nice! Thanks. Fun and inspiring.

  • hi How do you make a video the light painting?

    help me please.

  • Great work!

  • Like the audio track, did you make it?

  • hoooow come, if this is done with long exposures, the kids faces and arms aren't a blurry average of all of their positions?

  • the light for the kids is turned on really fast and then flicked off

  • @HeyHeyHarmonicaLuke yeah can someone answer this? i have no idea why not either.

  • cool

  • i wonder how long his exposures were?

    i love this video. :)

  • 10/sec to 30/sec

  • good stuff

  • how do you do that??

  • whats bulb mode?

  • when the obturator remains open as long as you keep pressing the button for taking a photo... =D its funny to make light streaks with it...

  • on bulb u hold the button keeping the shutter open and as soon as u let go it shuts if that makes sence?

  • whats the name of that song???

  • this is really kool

im a photogrpahy student in college and i'v really wanted to try things like this and coloured smoke too

  • Just Great!! =)

  • Comment removed

  • Lol 1:28 was the funniest

  • what is the aperature?

  • He meant Shutter, Aperture controls the amount of light. While your shutter controls how long light is hitting the sensor.

  • Awesome job! Looks like it was a lot of fun to do!

  • very good job ^^

  • How did he do this without their hands and arms making designs too. the camera should have blurred their hands too as they moved.

  • If what he said happened, then I think the only moment their hands showed was the instant the 2nd camera flashed; the remaining light designs were made during the rest of the bulb opening, in the dark.

    Great job, btw!

  • lol.. see what technology has brought to us?! creativity and fun?!

  • Very nice. This reminds me of when I was in college and I would drive around with my camera on a tripod in the passenger's seat with the shutter open. Fun!

  • Good job. I bet when these kids are all grown up they will seriously appreciate have these in their albums. I think the poses became much more exciting in the dark photos.

  • painting with light is the best :)

  • Rockin!

  • Please tell us the secret for the canon sd-900

  • I tried this yesterday, it came out pretty good, but would u say using a pen light is the best?

  • How do you set the SD900 to bulb feature? I so want to try this also!

  • Michael you are the bomb diggity!!!!! As a Greek to Greek "eisai kai o protos se afta!!!!

  • Thanks for replying...one more question, how do people get videos with them lightpainting, just a repetitive capture?

  • 37hz is the band? and what kind of music would u call it? i need more stuff like it, reminds me of fight club / requiem for a dream type stuff.

  • Your kids seem to have had a lot of fun working out different things they can do with the effect! :)

It doesnt matter when the flash comes, it can be at the start, or the middle or at the end... I've done some similar stuff in which I've had one photo of me with two flashes, resulting in a picture of two of me, standing back to back with myself with lots of light patterns around me. :) Takes coordination, but I was doing it with poi, so it'd be easier with just a light. Have fun!

  • Since I've gotten so many great comments in the last 2 days. It's motivated me to do another one... Stay tuned.

  • Michael, of all the lightpainting videos on YouTube, yours has spirit, and it looks like, as others have said, everyone's have a blast. I can't wait to see your follow-ups; these are very well done and fun to watch.

  • I like your saltlick shirt I live in austin

  • Cool.

  • wait...so you can wave that light around for like 10 seconds and than take the picture?

  • Actually, you press the shutter button first and while the shutter is open you move the light around. At some point the shutter closes. That's the end of your photo. You have to move the light fast as you only have about 15 seconds (max on my camera). Other cameras may let you open the shutter for much much longer.

  • @Coolioflip666 yeah man

  • The Bulb setting holds the shutter open, not the aperture.

  • Yes, you're correct! That's what I meant. Thanks for the correction.

  • Very cool and artistic. What great fun for your kiddos!

  • Amazing, man! I have never seen anything like it. Like a few other people, how are the people not blurred?

  • A lot of pictures at raves come out like this, I have seen some amazing shots, what's better than a bunch of kids running at hyperspeed with glowsticks?!

  • Ohhhh, waaait..lol You take the original, then a secondary in the dark while moving the light? Yeah, I know, I'll read it before you respond. Very cool my friend

  • Just to make sure everyone is clear, there is no secondary image. It's all done with one image and one exposure. I don't do any retouching or combining of images.

  • i have a sony cybershot DSC-T5, will i be able to do this with my camera?

  • you can with the "fireworks" mode setting(in manual) i'm not sure if t5 has it.

  • thanks bro

  • Im confussed. I am a photographer who has never seen this before until this video. I should, and will, research it before asking easily found answers, but if your in bulb mode long enough to capture the light, why does nothing else blur?

  • As he said, he uses a flash at the end of the capture time. In this way, the flash makes the persons be sharp, while the light was done before the flash.

  • That's very true CrazyVanders. If you are not using the flash then your subjects have to stay ABSOLUTELY still! That's what we did towards the end. It's hard to get kids to stay still but they did :)

  • the well lit pix must have been taken with the aid of a flash, as mentioned at the beginning... which essentially freezes the person and the rest of the room, and negates any faint blurring that would have appeared otherwise

  • ela re aibaliwth 8ee :)

  • So cool. Those kids must have had fun. God bless

  • very cool... i think it's neat because when i was really young i would have never thought that you could so easily do such cool things like that. i bet those kids had a blast!!

  • awesome how you captured the end with flash. great stuff. i like the music too.

  • very cool dude

  • how in the blue hell do u get the light motion, but yet each person is not in motion? just in their final pose.

    great stuff.

  • Thats exactly what I was wondering.

  • He explained in the vid, shooting off the flash at the end give you them in the pic rather than darkness

  • The ones where you didn't use the flash turned out so much better.

  • soooo cool Michael. Looks like so much fun. Thank you for sharing. Can you give us some more info on the night light please.

  • Great ideas. Fantastic ideas. Good movie editing. I really like this, and your family looks nice too.

  • Nice work
