My dog dreams like that a lot, but he kicks his legs sometimes, like he's running. Whenever he does that I say he's chasing rabbits.

I bet Dante was grumpy because he woke up right as he was about to bite into that rabbits ass.

This is a common thing for most dogs, it doesn't matter whether they were abused or not. They all have dreams and make this noise, sometimes the legs even move as if they're running. Very cute, I really want a Bassett for my next dog!

Hanky Boy did tht too. His daddy (my ex bf) said the boy was probably having a nightmare abt his bad past (he is an adopted boy frm the pound).So whenever he did tht, I would gently whispered his name in his ear & he would half opened his eyes looked at me then laid his head on my chest & fell back to sleep. It made us feel so good knowing tht we could comfort him.

My dog sounds like that. She does it in the middle of the night. She sleeps with me and lays her head on me. Then suddenly she wakes me up making those excact same sounds. It scares me then I wake her up. It is too funny!!!!!!!

that whistle part was cute lol, my dog makes that noise too, i always wasn't sure id that's a good sign or bad, when he does that i get scared maybe something's wrong, so i wake him up when he makes that noise. this is my 1st dog.

My basset hound does the exact same thing quite often. He was abandoned when he was a puppy and we got him from an animal shelter when he was 5 months old. I always wonder if he dreams about what happened before we adopted him.

Well, poor Dante is now sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the spare bedroom? No queen sized bed with pillows, quilted comforter, or elegant head and foot boards? What has life come to? No wonder he wakes up grumpy! The nerve! ;^)
