In his defense, push ups from a side view will always give the impression that one is not going up high enough. Just try it yourselves and you'll see what I mean. It'd be better viewed from the front or above.

The second part is where you failed on the majority of the reps. Do real pushups, and you won't be doing 60 in under a minute for a while.

@TheRareSpecimen if u dont lockout then the range of motion is shorter, i go all the way to floor and all the way up as fast as possible for as many reps as possible. that works best for me.
