Read more about the GTOs in a new book, Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa by Pauline Butcher. Pauline's task given her, a prim girl, by Frank Zappa was to chaperone and herd the zany GTOs thru rehearsals, a task she never fully mastered with such unruly girls.

I enjoyed this, I've just been reading about them and Frank Zappa at the Log Cabin. I had to hear them. Christine from the GTOs was the girl on the cover of Frank's 'Hot Rats' album I think.

Anything that comes out of Zappa's world -it is best not to see it - as it would entirely detract from the experience of faling into your own imagination.

As in when we are informed on "Uncle Meat" that "we had loads of crabs - that we proceded to give to everyone in Laural Canyon" -

i was able to imagine Frank and his lady friend taking crabs from the seaside, letting them entertain his guests in his hippy pad, and then if his visitors were suitably impressed -giving them away to take home.

Everyone should read The Real Frank Zappa Book. Our politics would improve, along with our educational system, music business, concert experience, knowledge of the GTO's and on.
