what a shame that the city of new york and the ownership groups since joan payson had to let this stadium fall into disrepair, overflowing toilets, rat infested facilities.
typical new york city government, steal the taxpayers money, sink it into a crap design and then refuse to maintain it. think i'm lying, have you ever looked at dodger stadium. as pristine as the day it was built.
The Reds' Marty Brennaman agrees that Shea's in bad condition. And he wouldn't be surprised if Citi Field also falls into disrepair years down the road.
Citi Field will be privately owned by the team, a much different scenario from Shea Stadium. So it will be very likely that 20-40 years from now, Citi Field remains in great shape like Dodger Stadium.
thats a really big crowd there

unlike shea, citifield has what shea never had, and that's team ownership with a financial interest in keeping citifield in top condition.
shea was owned ny the city of ny, and never properly cared for, while citifield is owned primarily by the wilpon family.
of the 800 million cost, the mets are in this for 550-625 million, the rest was financed by bonds by nyc.
much different scenerio.
Citifield is going to be a cash machine and will be just fine over the long haul.

Hopefully so, and IMO hopefully the name will be different by then, the Citi name just stinks on ice.

Reason why Dodger Stadium has withstood the test of time is because the climate. It does not have the harsh seasons to cause rust.
