  • Prince used this during LoveSexy and Batman

  • this machine is a magic of its time.

  • damn. for 12bit samples sound damn good. but you said it's on 50khz so this is the key.... wish i had this years ago

  • This is a "noiseless" video. =p

  • Your video is a favorite on Canada

  • Probably the most advanced drum system ever built. They really overshot everyone with these. Sweet.

  • great vintage digital drums - does anyone knows who's designed the thing for Dynacord?

    Thanks

  • @whiteeagle1973made

I read in Mark Vail's "vintage synthesizer" book, that the ADD One and other samplers by Dynacord of that time,

were designed by Marcus Ryle and Michael Doidic - they are known because they were with Oberheim at it's "Matrix" era, and also they helped in the design of Alesis ADAT.

  • i just bought this from a pawn shop with the full drum set

  • Great unit, way ahead of its time.

  • @SONORSQ2guy yes it was. Really powerful. I still haven't got to use it fully but will get it hooked up again. It's really a very deep machine.

  • Thx a Lot my Musician friend..i'll Search for One Unit

  • Did you Know how much internal Sounds the machine have ? Are they generated or Samples ? Cheers and thanks

  • @moremojo030 The internal sounds are samples . I can't remember what there are exaclty. I think 5 snares, 5 kicks, a few hihats, 10 toms etc... something like that

  • are these sampled drums or internal sounds ?

  • @moremojo030 Hi there

These sounds are in the machine when you boot it up. Basically they are samples stored in ROM..

With the add drive you can sample your own or load library sounds..

  • At 1:57, it reminded me of those drums on the NBA JAM TE soundtrack for the Super Nintendo back then. Great sounding sampler!

  • I can't say why but it just seems like a special unit. Like the other 12 bit greats the sp and studio 440. I mean curtis chips are known to be brassy. Thats gotta sound great on drums.

  • This is dope. Is it 8 bit or 12 bit?

  • @tonykanemusic

Thx! I believe it is 12 bit and samples at 50khz. Great sounding unit.

  • Any idea what this unit with the sampler and manual and service manual sells for today. I have it.

  • The right sampler if you want drums with character! Great video!

  • Comment removed

  • what kind of files does it read from the floppy drive?

  • where can you find a drive? are they easy to find? can they be serviced easily?

  • there is one up on los angeles craigslist right now

  • i would appreciate the type of the cable too. can you please tell us? thanks in advance

  • I too have one, but am desperately looking for a manual. Pretty straightforward machine really, but I bet there's more to it than I have already discovered.

  • I have the manual. I just asked dynacord for the manual and they email it to me.

Let me know if you find the service manual mine needs work!!

  • got one

cool drum sampler and synth with CEM vcf and vca....also FAAAAT and pure punch

can do a lot tricks wich non of machines on this world can do

  • Nice!

  • man, I found one for $250..

    should I take it?

  • Yes. Good price. Does it have the drive?

  • sorry buddy I just picked that one up. If you where talking about the add one on LA craigslist

  • sorry buddy I just picked that one up. If you where talking about the add one on LA craigslist

  • OMG!!

    Built in the year?!!!

  • about 1985/86 I believe!

  • hey i was wondering did you ever find out what kind of cable is needed

thanks again for all the awsome info

  • Love it

Definetly some Underworld and Tangerine Dream references there

  • that rocks i want one! :P

  • Hi

How easy is it to sample and use?

Is there a lot of menus to go through?

    What is the memory size?

  • It's very easy to sample with really. You press rec on the sample add on and it has a few pages for setting length, threshold etc etc, but pretty simple.

The sounds are placed automatically in whichever channel of the Add One you specify.

I think it has 768k of memory and you can choose 50k or 25k sample rate I think.

  • oh and do you use a midi cable to connect the add drive to the add one thanks

  • Hi

There is a hole on the front where you can put some disks. Is that what you mean?

No, it's not a midi cable. I think it is 7 pin. I can check next time I am in the studio

    David

  • ok so i just tried a Hosa 7-Pin Phantom MIDI Cable and thats not working but i was wondering what brand and cable type do u use

    thanks

  • ok i have mine but i was wondering on the add drive is there a gapping hole that has two copper sort of things on yours as well thanks

  • and does it have mono outputs or stereo outputs thanks

  • It has LOADS of outputs

    1 mono

    1 stereo pair

    8 individual outputs

  • oh man thanks sorry about the random questions i just ordered one from this guy and i wanted to make sure it was what i thought itd be

  • ok one last question the floppy drive do you need to format the floppies at all and if so does it format for or do you need a program to format it and if so what program

  • You format the floppies on the disk drive

  • 16 Bits? How many cash for this treasure?

  • The Sampling is 12 bit (50khz rate)

If you can find one, maybe $500-$1000. Something like that!

  • ok what about the xlr cable could i record something through there and mess with that

    thanks

  • Yes, the XLR is the mic input for the sampling section. You sample your sound and it is then one of the samples that can be processed.

  • do you need disks for different sounds or are there sounds locked and loaded on there as it is

  • There are sounds in it's ROM (including waveforms like sawtooth and noise etc) but you can load or sample your own via the sample/disk option.

  • So this has trigger ins?

  • Yes. It has 8 trigger inputs plus 2 voltage control inputs and Midi
