Never had a WJ with ST. When snow is on the ground I get less than 10mpg. Dry roads about 13 city/ 16 hwy.

My SRT8 Grand Cherokee gets 10mpg city/ 13 hwy.

So the "weak" 4.7 has 235 horsepower and 295 lbs-ft of torque and the 5.2 has 220 horsepower and 300 lbs-ft of torque. I guess that extra 5 lbs of torque make the 5.2 so much better??? I have an 04 with the 4.7 and it is far from "weak"

ok the 5.2 is farther from weak... compare it to the 5.9 like i also said, 245hp 345ft lbs...the 5.2 and 5.9s are still lower to the ground which is better for turning which is what you do in drifting... we are all jeep lovers i never meant for this to become an arguement but there are always people like you

people like me? You stated that the 5.2 and 5.9 was better for drifting because they had more power than the 4.7 so I corrected you because I wouldn't want people being misinformed. About your accusation that the 5.2 and 5.9 are lower..there are so many factors in the turning of an SUV. The WJ (1999-2004) has an upgraded suspension and  therefore less body roll than the ZJ (Whenever-1998)..

I had a 98 4.0 before I had my WJ and I would say that it turned much worse than my WJ but I could be wrong. I love my Jeep. Its bad ass. Its Quadra-Drive all wheel drive with Varilock front and rear differential lock so I don't drift anyways. Jeeps are made for the trails. Glad you are a fellow Jeeper though!!

I have had both.. a 98 5.9l and an 03 Overland with a 4.7 H.O. nad I can assure you with the utmost confidence that the 4.7 H.O. was faster. As far as handling ?? It's hard to say, the Overland has beefed up torsion bars and mine had bilstein shocks, but the `98 did handle quite well.. but I wouldn't drift either of them unless it was in snow and there was virtually no difference...
