I own the 3d and I have to admit that the cam on the photon is better. But I'm used to that. I pre-ordered the og EVO last year. When i tried the 720 resolution on the og, I thought I was working it wrong because it was so choppy and jumpy. A month or so later my buddy at work snagged a galaxy s phone. His video made me want to throw my EVO in the trash. But the 3d is much smoother than its predecessor. I bet the loud speaker on the photon is better too. The prime will probably knock off photon

@floss.. as far as still images though... Have u printed images out from the.two to compare actual photo quality? Or are u only looking at the images ON the device?..oh and p.s. luv ur reviews.... The realness seems to be quite catchy... There's clearly not enough of that going around...

@floss.. that would explain the difference in lighting.. the sun rises at different times on different days especially with an almost 30 min earlier start time on the 3vo... and also with the ISO set to auto.. that.determines the kind of exposure that u get based on the light source...so that may explain why its darker... But other than the obvious lighting difference(which is explained with the low positioning of the sun in the 3vo) the quality seems about the same to me....

And then not to mention the weather extremes.... Overcast...rain...etc... I'm not disputing which is better...I'm just wondering if those variables were considered... A change in lighting will make considerable differences in capture quality..

@32prettyred both videos were shot at the same day, same time back to back. i shot the rain scenes in both videos one after the other with no more then a 2 minute pause between each. the first 2 scenes in each video were shot different one day apart, but almost the exact time of the day. so the shadow may be more pronounced, but there's no disputing the end rain scenes ..

@32prettyred if you pause the video and look at the in dash navigation,you can see the evo video is shot at 7:07am and the photon is shot at 7:27am..

I believe u when u say they were done @ the same time but there were CONSIDERABLY more shadows in the 3vo video... And perhaps I mistook the low position of the sun in the background as dusk... But perhaps it was dawn.... But in the entire photon video the sun was CLEARLY in a totally different position and unlike the 3vo video wasn't shadowing behind trees for most of the video..

@32prettyred from what i gathered in all of my testing is the Evo just shoots darker .. this is noticeable in pictures and in video. its a big step up from the original Evo, but in a comparison with photon the Motorola is just plain better. its even more apparent when viewing content from the actual handsets..

I have both the EVO 3D and the Photon. I can tell you the truth, and yes the truth does hurt some times, the Photon has a better camera/camcorder.

Now is it just me paying a little to much attention to detail or does it appear that the sun is starting to set in this video?.. so then by that deduction I would assume that the video with the photon was shot first with full illumination... And the EVO video was shot at dusk... The sound quality is noticibly better but if the lighting conditions weren't the same that's not really a good comparison because other than the lighting differences they seem pretty much the same to me
