I fully agree with "54markl" - The RAMONES replaced the rock and on track and to me are the most worthy to wield the flag since then! Ramones, keeping the rock alive in our hearts!!!!
My lord, I would have known that this was Johnny Ramone without ever seeing the video. No one in the world has a guitar sound like he does! Brilliant.
Duane Eddy, Link Wray, Dick Dale, step back! Here is the Messiah! He was the Jimi Hendrix of the Rhythm Guitar, and the stern-faced George Washington of Punk Rock 'n Roll. Joey was the Thomas Jefferson, Dee Dee was the John Adams, Tommy was the Ben Franklin, Marky was everyone else. Rock 'n Roll just hasn't been the same since most of the Ramones died. Now they belong to the ages. God is saying "Gabba gabba hey" in Heaven.
Johnny is playing the overdriven rythm part. I dont believe for second he's playing the lead parts. He didnt with the Ramones. They had other guitarist play the very few lead parts they recorded. Even in concert they would have a 2nd guitarist play some lead parts backstage. That is a fact.
A 2nd guitarist in the backstage? I've never heared anything about that, Ramones didn't have any solos in their live shows, maybe just on Californa Sun, and Johnny could do it for sure!
It's been written in one of the bands bio books. It is a fact. There was only a few songs that required a 2nd quitar to play live. There is a live video on youtube that you can clearly hear a 2nd guitar being played. The name of the song escapes me at the moment.
sam rostein loves it......

Ironic that the self- professed "hater of solos" would play this tune instrumental...

Johnny is playing rhythm guitar, he never played lead. He was always a rhythm guitar player not a lead.

Better than Elvis! When I heard this on the Weather Channel, I thought it was a Country song. I don't like punk, but this is awesome!!!

If I'm not wrong ... Johnny Ramone did not play lead guitar at all ... He was solely a rhythmist ...

Yes it Can be.
He dont play solos in Ramones but when you play 25 years in band you learn to play like this.

I don't believe for a minute that it is Johnny providing the "twang". Probably more the rythym guitar beneath. Good tune though.

He kinda also sounds like Duane Eddy; twang!
