  • it may not be his song, but the message is amazing and very inspirational!!

  • I like the version by Red Sovine on "phantom 309 where it's called "Viet Nam Deck of Cards".

This is definitely NOT Don Williams.

  • Always loved this, thank you for uploading

  • Is the version I grew up with judging by the backing instrumentals! Yes he wasn't the first but I suspect this was the first to be internationally recognised? Any ways up, does it really matter who is singing such a cool and moving song ..

  • Though it's not Don I do like the words of this song :-)

  • This isn't country singer Don Williams and I'm 100% sure. I've been a huge DW fan my whole live and always recognise his voice very well as I'm his biggest fan :-). This isn't Don's voice, that's very obvious.... Don's sounds deep, low and mellow, this voice sounds too high and sharp. To compare listen to 'Twas the night before Christmas' by Don and you'll hear the difference. Also this song is on none of his albums, singles or whatever and I know, because I have every song he ever recorded...

  • wether this is Don Williams or not, he is definatly NOT the only one that sang this song. it was done originally by Tex Ritter, in 1948. and has been redone several times over the years

wonderful song, but let us not forget the man that first brought it to us.

  • shed a tear

  • THIS IS THE BEST EVER

  • Song with a message, thank you for posting this here. I truely don't believe it is Don Williams but regardless it was very uplifting, whoever spoke the words to it did a fine job. Don Williams is my favorite all time singer, glad to see so many of his songs here on you tube. Gosh I would so love to see Don get back to singing, he sure deserves to be honored at the Grand Ole Opry :-)
