Nice sound. I wish we'd have gotten the FTO over here instead of the eclipse. I always loved the spunky 2.0L V4 engines. My dad had one in our old Saab camback.
when it drove off was that the sound of the bike? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa
Hi, I've a question for u: Do you have the Automatic tiptronic version or the manual 5speed, and what kind of RPM r u doing at around 60MPH, I'm interested in Importing one for the UK to the Netherlands.
I like low RPMs for the motorway cruise. So I want to know whitch makes the lowest RPM the auto or the manual.
Also I've to pay Tax - not roadtax but vehicletax - what is the NewPrice on a Mivec version in Pounds?
@jasperdeknegt Just bought one in Australia, we have to pay vehicle tax to! it cost me 8,000 AD$ and a 200 for tax, The trip version has a computer that works out how you drive, so on a freeway (motorway) you get your low revs, unless you have the peddle to the metal! lol
hurm.. may i ask. why is it soo hard to hear when the mivec is on?? ive seen a thousands of video yet none gives me the satisfaction.. unlike vtec which we all can hear it out loud. clearly indicated whenever the valve are open wide. mind to share?
I think that as the difference between low-cam to hi-cam mode in a Honda is greater then the difference between low-cam to hi-cam in the Mitsi.
The change over is also designed to be smoother in the Mitsi . Also the Honda's have a 4 cylinder engine where as the fto is a 6 cylinder engine . Hope that answers you question .
True True, did consider that condition too. But thinking of it, is there anyway we could change the cam? Had any1 did the modification on a gto? would like to hear the result (hear as in really hear it ^_^').
also i believe that because vtec only has a lift variation, not timing and lift like mivec, vtec is kinda brutal changing over and there is a power drop, but the variable timing is set on the mivecs to minimise harshness and make the transition as smooth as possible.
also, you can hear it switch over when your in it, the cams open right up and the noise gets deeper and louder, just like a lumpy cam

Man, that thing sounds nuts. Reminds me of those F430s with F1 exhausts.

Very similar note to an NSX, being the same similar layout just 2 litres opposed to 3 or 3.2 in the later models. Very nice FTO, well done!

Hi there
Congratulations on buying a great car :-)
My FTO is running Mongoose down pipes ,A decat and a HKS super dragger exhaust .
Also a good idea to join the owners club as there's lots of useful info on there and a sales section which is great for a bargain .
Regards Lee

Hi mate. Just a question about the FTO. Do you know which mods gave the more racey exhaust sound? Do the downpipes / decat make a difference?
mrdjbrand 3 years ago 2
Hi there
The decat made the most difference to the sound
As for performance well i was able to better my 1/4 mile times after doing each of them .
