May not have won the Cup, but these women put on an amazing show. Can't wait to see what they do in London this summer and in Canada in 2015.
if you think the Men are better.....why haven't they won a world cup yet? The closest they have come is a 3rd place win in 1930. The women have 2 world cup Titles under their belt, a 2nd place finish and 3 3rd place finishes. Not to mention 2 Gold medals in the Olympics.

Great video. I wished I was in a position to go watch it with a group of people, but I was streaming it on my computer in my apartment and, well, maybe it's for the best I was alone... because when Wambach hit that cross from Rapinoe I went apeshit and lost my fucking mind. Possibly one of the greatest moments in sports I've ever witnessed. That game was so dramatic and heartwrenching. Tough break with Japan, but I still think the USWNT is a group of winners!
I know i am going to get crap for this, but they really should have beaten japan by 2 to 3 goals. I mean we had huge size and goal keeper advantage and lost a game that should have never went to extra time. we were 22-0-3 lifetime against them going in. sawa was great in her 5th WC, but come on they shouldn't lost that game. abby alone had size and ability to score a hat trick against them. I think rampone was most consistent player for usa. her crushing tackle started the tieing G ag brazil.

When the equalizing ball went in all I could think of was ManU's last ditch against Bayern Munich in CL 1999 . i remember exactly where i was during this goal: playing in a beach volleyball tournament. i made sure at every break between matches i checked the game and i went into a bar on the boardwalk and sat with a few friends/coaches of mine. i didnt leave that chair till the game ended and everyone in the bar was out of their seats screaming. i was late for my next match but it was 100% worth it. there was no way i was leaving that bar until the US won that match! that game was truly amazing..

A tiny bit cruel - they did reach the final and should have won twice in the game (plus they should have been 6-0 up by half time).
But the penalties - well the Japanese coach got it spot on. He joked around and kidded with his players, made them smile. The pressure was all on the US and they couldn't handle it.
I mean, a Hobbit in goal saves two of the penalties - on the training field, there would be no excuse for that!

A tiny bit cruel - they did reach the final and should have won twice in the game (plus they should have been 6-0 up by half time).
But the penalties - well the Japanese coach got it spot on. He joked around and kidded with his players, made them smile. The pressure was all on the US and they couldn't handle it.
I mean, a Hobbit in goal saves two of the penalties - on the training field, there would be no excuse for that!

@halcyon0830 To your first comment, how ridiculous - there is NO MONEY in women's soccer, that's the beauty of women's soccer - there isn't the cynicism that there is in the men's game. Players aren't complaining about not getting paid or enough or any of that bullshit. I think they wanted to make our country proud and they certainly have. To your second comment, maybe you should look up the definition of overrated, because that makes no sense. Go ask Brazil or France if the uswnt is overrated.

@cfc1708 men athletes are just flat out better. the world cup team that beat china played the u20 mens national team and lost. the womens world cup championship team lost to men who werent old enough to drink. you can take your womens sports and feel all high and mighty cuz they dont ask for more money; ill take the better athletes.
p.s. women players dont bitch about getting paid cuz there is no money in womens sports cuz no one wants to watch it

That being said not many countries care about women's football so that should give you an illustration on why they've been so dominate because if the world cared they wouldn't.
