  • Sadly Govt of India failed to recognise Saigal sahib who belonged to united India. Many are given awards to appease a section while real deserving men like Saigal and Surendranathji are neglected. It is time they are recognized than the un deserving ones.

  • there will not be another K.L.Sehgal,who inspired generation of future singers.

  • I love him too there's magic in his voice but I would go easy on conferring on these guys - this was 1937 while he was making movies, young men were giving their lives fighting for a free india. Even today i saw the documentary on this guy who was risking his life trying to save children from bonded labor - no awards for those but we are ready to give awards to fake idols

  • Simply divine, there never will be any other Saigal, except K.L.Saigal. I am in my 80's and he will live for ever even when all others and I are gone. Such a joy to listen to him. I have lot of his recordings . C.H.Atama did try to copy him but to no avail. I wish that the Government of India have his birthday anniversary or at least has his postage stamp issued in his memory . Shame on India Government.

  • @buttegowda

    Bhai sahib....it is divine...

  • There will never be another Saigal. Simply awesome.

  • Nice lyrics...nice music...nice actors...I wish present days indian directors follow this pattern and create scenes like this instead of undressing their actresses....

  • Innocent words...innocent actors...lovely language....soft music...Cant todays movie makers of India stop showing half nude actresses and making songs like Cholee Kay Peechay Kia Hai or Rukmani Shadi Kay Baad Kia Hua?

  • When one listens to Saigal, Pankaj Mullick, Jagmohan,Mukesh, Lata,Suman,Sudha,Geeta, Asha,Rafi,Talat,Hemant and a few others in that old constellation of divine singers, one has to say God is in His Heaven and all is well with the world-- even if reality soon shatters such blissful reveries. In that firmament, Saigal was like the North Star that other singers took their direction from, consciously or not. I can't thank you enough,Musique4ever, for spreading so much joy around.

  • I also do appreciate dear Musique4ever efforts and time to enjoy our 'mental personal video' of those golden days

  • the technology at that time wasn't at all advanced but look at the pur mgic he has created and there's so much sincerity.

  • Awesome!!

  • Jhulana Jhulay is one of the best classical songs of KLS

  • In late 50s through 70s my father waited for last song from Radio Ceylon (later Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corp) Purani Filmon Ka Sangeet) before going to work. Later I became an avid fan of Suargi KL Saigal. I have almost all of his songs on cassette or CDS. One should listen to his "Jhulana Jhulay".

  • I remember, everyday 8 am on radio Cylon(Sri Lanka)I was ready for K.L. Saigal.

  • I still remember those days of Radio Ceylon for Purani Filmon Ka Sangeet or listen "cranked" type (manual) and single use needle to to play HMV records

  • Yup . His voice had divine magic. Saigal's ghazals and bhakti geet is voice directly coming from a heart which felt it.

  • you need special room and environment to listen to Saigol

  • divine
