Thanks. Check out the link I posted in the drop-down just below the video for all the info on the dog bone conversion. Only difference I did was to use tiny o-rings (HPI #6819) as spacers.
Inside the drive cups on either end of the dogbones. The dogbones are just short enough to slip out (without some type of spacer to take up the slack) while the suspension is compressed.
@vsci79 ok man thanks for the info so usefull and your post on the forum is great too. hopefully i will remeber to come back here and get all this info down before i order. thanks alot the only thing i dont like is the idea of the spacers although it may be necessary it seems ghetto lol. so do you think using a mip traxxas dog bone would fix this or a losi strike dog bone. the only truck i have that has cvds is my losi strike all of my TRXs are plastic my 2 rustlers 2 e-maxxes 1 slash 2 stampede
@vsci79 and one bandit. those are all trx plastic. so i would happily tell you if those would work after i buy all the parts from hpi besiiiides the dog bones of course. but i will try the strike bones on this conversion and tell you how it works see if they are right length
and hey if you could please subscribe to my other rc channle

becuase i will upload alot of rc bashing videos soon i only have 2. the second video is better
This Traxxas Stampede is a great truck even with the big heavy Clodbuster wheels/tires (I call it my HighRoller because it sits tall with those tires and I have a old Losi body on it). The VXL brushless motor handles the loads without much of a fuss. It's not unbreakable but is very durable.
The truck (chassis) is my old Traxxas Stampede, therefore the magnum gaer box was a direct fit. Sorry for the misleading title. I'm sure there is a way to mod a Losi HighRoller to run a Stampede rear end, would be very interesting to see too.
I have the newer Traxxas magnum 272 transmission (has all steel gears) installed. This is the trans that VXL Stampede/ Slash and others comes with. It's tough.
Yes that idler gear upgrade for the older style stampede helps too. But I instead went with the 272 gearbox that I found on the big auction site for cheap and yes it bolts directly to the old stampede chassis.
The brushless motor is the same size as stock, so fit is no problem. I got this motor and esc used for cheap, but a good new system starts at almost 150 bucks. Check out RCMT. net , rcgroups. com or similar online forum for good info and help.
Cool truck but why the stupid music.

I guess that old Losi stadium truck body count... that's the only Losi part on this rig. I do admit to the title is a bit misleading :-)

thank you for the parts number. Also I installed my mamba 5700kv and my transmision gears was stripped. What are you using???? to prevent breakage???

Do you need to modify it or is bolt on?
jaybuz20 3 years ago
Aluminum Idler gear will help. Make sure to properly set the mesh too or you will strip it regardless of power.
