this show has a way of sometimes having things happen that are predictable but with a twist so it still surprises you
The part where Dexter sets up the kill room in front of Doakes is the best scene. Before that, Doakes had small hope that Dexter was doing this out of morality to clean the streets. That was something Doakes could somewhat understand, because at least that sounded human.
But after witnessing the cold-bloodedness of Dexter, Doakes realized that Dexter wasn't a person with issues, but a ruthless monster with no trace of humanity. Doakes didn't want to believe it existed. Not "he", but "it".
I really enjoyed this rival. In a way, you can feel Doakes near the end has some kind of respect for Dexter, he walks a line that Doakes can't...but He has to do his duty as a Cop to try and stop Dexter because he is straight cold blooded...man....This show is just too good.
Interesting Doakes was used to being the Alpha Male, but he underestimated Dexter's capability and mental capacity / agility. Never judge a book by it's cover. Doakes was an excellent character aside from Dex.

I miss these days. the writing was way better. More dark humor. Don't get me wrong, the new season is great in it's own rite, but the older episodes were just great.
I was really hesitant to watch this show when it was first suggested to me a while back. Partly because I was a huge fan of Six Feet Under and I thought I wouldn't be able to watch Hall as Dexter without thinking of his character David (if that makes any sense...). But this show is AMAZING!! I just started watching it from the beginning a few days ago and I'm already caught up to the present episodes. Michael C. Hall is a brilliant actor! Not to mention the show's fantastic writing.
Death Note and Dexter have nothing in common what so ever. Both are awesome, but that's about the only connection there is, other than that they kill assholes who deserve death.
They do. Both main characters are geniuses who plan every move down to the letter. Both kill criminals. Both put on "masks" and are seen as very good at social interactions.

The moment Doakes found out Dexter is a killer, he was probably disappointed that it was more than a game.

I miss these days. the writing was way better. More dark humor. Don't get me wrong, the new season is great in it's own rite, but the older episodes were just great.

I was really hesitant to watch this show when it was first suggested to me a while back. Partly because I was a huge fan of Six Feet Under and I thought I wouldn't be able to watch Hall as Dexter without thinking of his character David (if that makes any sense...). But this show is AMAZING!! I just started watching it from the beginning a few days ago and I'm already caught up to the present episodes. Michael C. Hall is a brilliant actor! Not to mention the show's fantastic writing.

Death Note and Dexter have nothing in common what so ever. Both are awesome, but that's about the only connection there is, other than that they kill assholes who deserve death.

They do. Both main characters are geniuses who plan every move down to the letter. Both kill criminals. Both put on "masks" and are seen as very good at social interactions.

you were right about me... i never held it againwt you. and this is nothing like deathnote. Dexter kills because he is compelled to do so, the code wasnt even his idea. Kira, or light yagami killed at first because he believed he was doing the right thing, then he killed for power and greed.
