@Ugleben Are you joking? They're pretty fast for heavyweights. What you see flying back and forth there would destroy the average guy in a second. Even only Schilt's jab is powerfull enough to force a knockout.

And I can tell you from performing it myself, one or two of those kicks with the ball of the foot to your liver, and you'd be on the floor crying. Gergers took them for three rounds and was still somewhat in one piece. ^_^

Americans are good in boxing but they are very poor in thaiboxing/kickboxing the dutch are the best in that they also where the first to go to thailand and fought the thai there.

Then they started beating the thai at their own sport, now the training methods are also better then the thai methods so that gives them also an advantage!

i am american, i train in mma and ive watched ufc from the start, k-1, and other misc fighting sports...and i know one thing. so many americans think that they are simply the best in nearly every sport. we may be great in many sports. however, the fight sport...NO. so many other nations have been involved in the fight sport much longer than americans have.

@doctorsizzle Well, it also has something to do with American kickboxing being based on it's own concept of only above the belt etc. I think that's more like 'karate-boxing'. The Dutch variant was founded based on Japanese kickboxing by Jan Plas.

The pressure from the karate-boxing style also kept the new kickboxing style from taking root. Similarly, in the Netherlands, the freefight (mma) scene is pushed to the background by the massive kickboxing scene.

@Blahb27 thanks for the reply...great points. also, it's because we fail at the fight philosophy. or preoccupation is and has always been with POWER. the cars we build the way we do business=POWER.

...then, our approach to achieving POWER is based in our history of bodybuilding. it's a shame though. so many of these fighters are just race horses for all these other practitioners who make a quick buck off their salary. masseuse, physical therapist, weight instruct...the list goes on.

I love American fighters as well, specially Lidell, Frye, Jackson etc, but the simple fact is that Dutch training is better. Why do you think there was a market for Bas Rutten to open a training school in Cali? And fact: Europeans are bigger than Americans (length). So you can't really compare them. Bob Sapp was one of the few at the K 1 top, but he wasn't that good really, you must agree right?
