  • HABRA ALGUN VIDEO EN ESPAÑOL SIMILAR A ESTE VIDEO???

  • Hurd Studios: the makers of this and other fine propaganda films.

If I had taken part in the making of this film I would have added something like this to the comment: "As a known altruist (lol), I will now prove to you how badly addicted you are by showing you exactly how (I imagine) the nicotine addiction works. Pretty cool graphics eh? There... much easier to quit now! No need to thank me, my work is it's own reward."

  • Nicotine should be illegal ! Our government really doesnt care about us.

  • @justinmechanic17 actually nicotine has proven health effects. it is actually good for your heart and greatly lowers your chance of getting alzheimers. The problem is tobacco, which is the most common way nicotine is consumed.

  • This movie confused the hell out of me and now i'm gonna have a smoke :)

  • why smoker and not cars?

  • why the smokers? why not the cars?!?!

  • I don't understand the concept of "Addiction". It makes no since to me. I smoked before... its nothing great, i smoked like 2 weeks straight before and it doesn't do shit to me. I have tried many drugs and nothing is addictive lol.

  • ions activate!

  • Quiting the smoking habit is not making something miraculous, its re-learning to live your everyday life without cigarettes.

  • Awesome video.

  • Veeeeery slow. Remember that hobbies you find fun, trigger the same parts of the of receptor sites in the brain. This might be a great opportunity to learn more of yourself and develop a unique skill. Good luck, my heart goes to you. If someone claims he/she is better than you for having overcome addiction, they are monstrous Hippocrates who's self contradiction is a painfully obvious dichotomy. Massages are a fantastic way to get your "fix" during detox. Especially for tobacco abuse.

  • Enough. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. This applies to addictive behavior. You can debate that as a product of Nature or Nurture, but when it comes down to it. Some of us human beings are less resistant to chemical dependence. I strongly encourage anyone trapped in this habit to take it very slow when detoxing. I suggest a reductions of 5 percent every 3 days. In this wise, you should feel no discomfort or withdrawal symptoms. Good luck.

  • they should make nicotine pills.

  • nicotine is nasty...you don't want it in your body

  • You don't. Others do.

  • This is actually VERY informative. Well done. I definitely didn't expect the video to go that in-depth.

  • Oh fuck. The answer is extremely simple. It is literally written infront of them.

Answer : Ban Tobacco , and legalize Cannabis.

Alcohol can do what it wants.

  • yes :) i actually tried my first ciggy a few days ago, even trying another one to get "used" to it although already having tried cannabis a few times before. I must say it did nothing to me except make me feel like shit, burn my throat, smell bad and start coughing up mucus from the body's attempts at cleaning the shitload of chemicals in my body.

  • @b0grillaz I'm all for legalization, but not on the grounds that cannabis is safer or better than nicotine. Researchers still think that THC has an impact on the same reward circuit (although not through the same mechanisms). Hence THC is also potentially addictive.

  • Any ABCT226 mates here? How is your work?

  • Just bought electric cig but I'm still getting nicotine. Wondering how bad it is for me. Haven't smoked real cig in two n half days. Smoker of 5 years.

  • Cravings are the WORST. I've only quit for a month and these cravings are so harsh. I want a ciggerette :(

  • E-CIGS deliver nicotine, without the carcinogenic compounds contained in tobacco smoke. I quit smoking cigarettes the first day I started using the e-cig, after smoking for 30 years. I prefer "vaping" to smoking. I highly recommend it.

  • i agree that e-cigs are a very good support. i have tried everything from gums to patches. there might be some problems in terms of kicking the habit of having something in the mouth but i have no problem with that. i use e-cigs as well and they are totally fine. i not reccomend the zybian anti depressive as really got me stoned and mildly on high. quite weird sensations on that.

  • Well said. Im a proud owner of a Prodigy PV. It feels like going from breathing campfire smoke to breathing in a steam room. Highly recomeneded for you smokers out there. (ex-4 year smoker)

  • @oofooh

Ok, but you're still a slave to nicotine, e-cigarette or not. You don't have control over nicotine, nicotine has control over you. And besides it looks ridiculous with somebody puffing on a fake cigarette. Read Allen Carrs (rip) and just QUIT!

  • Comment removed

  • So, someone looks less ridiculous sucking combustion fumes out of the rear end of a REAL cigarette?

Do you work for the Tobacco Companies?

Are you a slave to idiocy?

  • What? I'm telling you I've QUIT! And I hate the Tobacco Companies, who LOVE to see people still hooked on nicotine. Because whether it's an e-cigarette, nicotine chewing gum, people will still be hooked to the drug, and the majority will return to cigarettes. Do yourself a favor and find out who Allen Carr is, read his work, not only will you stop smoking easily and without withdrawal problems, you will see clearly the sinister nature of the tobacco industry and the drug they push: nicotine.

  • You pick your own poison. Some of us really like nicotine. I know you won't "get it," so I'm not going to get into the pharmacology of nicotine. It is obviously over you head.

  • In that case , you've let nicotine completely brainwash you.I've heard the exact same phrases from heroin addicts.

  • I happen to be a heroin user and tobacco user, and you're an absolute twat if you think users don't like their drugs. You're brainwashed by the government.

  • Oh please shut the fuck up, drug use is a choice.

  • i need nicotine REALLY BAD

  • Nicotine in and of itself, which is a lethal organic pesticide that will kill insects and animals, is actually extremely beneficial to humans. Not only an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication, it is also used as a therapy for ADHD and Schizophrenia, and helping to prevent against the onset on Pakinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and various Dementias in later life. Again, this does not mean smoking is good, it is bad! Untainted nicotine is good.

  • Great video!

  • this is a very good video, well explain how necotine works in our brain.

    thanks.

  • for heavens sakes man, stop talikng in riddles and speak plain english. you educated fool, you will make people smoke even more!!

  • Apparently, Nicotine is an NMDA inhibitor. Like many of the new anti Parkinson, anti Alzheimer, anti-seizer drugs.

It appears Nicotine, as with other NMDA inhibitors, blocks MSG at the brain receptors.

  • i dont know where to look right off the bat for the answer - but my understanding is over the long haul, the brain develops new connections associated with cues that get the person to go towards whatever gave him the nicotine (the cigarette). I think nicotine works by blocking inhibiting cells on the reward system from working by first stimulating them and then 'blunting them'. But then when u stop these reward blunting cells are more excitable.. so im not sure if nicotine = reward sensitizing

  • is it true that nicotine increases the sensitivity of the reward pathway, opposite to other rec drugs?

  • Very imformative, brilliant illustration. Would be even better if included further information on the reward pathway in the brain (i.e. VTA to nucleus accumbens).

  • nicotine is good for, the other products are very bad.

Ok it is also true thet sex increments the level of dopamine jeje, all thing that causes pleasure increments the level of dopamine and causes addiction.
