@Cheehooo24 Well... plastic army men are meant to be thrown around and 'pew pewed' by 6-year olds. Miniature wargaming uses fragile, painted models that require craftsmanship, and is more organized using dice and measuring tape, all the while using tacticts against your opponent. So yes, it's a whole different thing.

It varies on which game it is, but typically...

1. First terrain is set up, usually in a mutually agreeable manner, or players might take turns to place one piece of terrain each.

2. Players deploy their armies

3. Player 1 moves, shoots, fights, casts magic and so on. perhaps killing enemies, or forcing them to flee.

4. PLayer 2 does the same.

5. Players keep taking turns until a time limit is reached, a set objective is completed, or one side is wiped out.

Although expensive just think of it more as a subscription, you don't need to buy everything straight away. Start small and buy extra miniatures every week or month depending on how quick you want to make an army.

Also ebay is your friend, I got two Tactical squads brand new for the price of one.

I play flames of war and I agree its expensive. A tip though is join a group of people and see if you can start a escalation league.  This allows you to buy small parts of your army over multiple weeks/months so that it makes it more financially friendly.

Miniwargaming is ideal for breaking up a relation.Girls just love when you spent that much money on TOYS and not on bills and food,and especially on here.

Its the best of building models, gaming and socializing with others all rolled into one. These games really allow you to show off your artistic skills in making the miniatures and building the battlefield terrain. They are getting popular up here in Western Canada. Our city has a large hobby gaming community that has its own dedicated and permanent gaming hall so we can socialize and game on a grand scale.
