The driver is my dad, He was one of the several drivers who used to drive the VR's properly and he still drives VR's on special events, XDV 608S was his favourite to drive aswell as VDV 141S - Bristol VRT Mark 3 former First Devon and Cornwall. :)
@MrJames1055 Yes he drove the VR respectfully, I seem to remember asome people staying on the bus after dropping off in Penzance, a lad and a woman remained on the bus, might this possibly have been you?
Oh, the memories! I love this, it reminds me when Northumbria Motor Services had these when I travelled to work from 1988-1995. I love the engine noise and those seats, mint!
I've got it on online now (see video response). It used to sound like a fleetline or a vr. Now it just sounds, well kindof knackered. See what you think
This brings back memories - I used to travel to and from school by bus in the '90s and it was almost always on a VR... one in particular sounded fantastic as it made an even more impressive screaming sound in its top two gears than this one does - wonderful sounding buses!!
This could have been the bus i travelled on as a kid in the 80's whilst on holiday in Cornwall, the screaming bus was a memorable occasion, great clip thanks for the memory.
No bus built since the VR has screemed so well not EVen a ZF gearbox can beat the SCG gearboxes for screaming out! The old VR beats its newer stbalemates with some quaity whine!
i owned this bus for a short while. lovely gearbox, smooth as silk. now in preservation in dorset

It is a shame they are fading. All Lowestoft's VRs were sold to Devon in 2002.

Music to the ears and it's being driven properly as well.

Brilliant work - I haven't heard anything like that in years. Used to travel on East Yorks VR's all the time in the 80's 90's
Only dawned on me today there might be stuff like this on youtube

I don't think I have been on a DMS no. I know a little how they sound however. I have been on many Fleetlines, are they similar?
