The funniest part of this is that Doug is being serious about his conviction and everyone on this thread thinks that he is just about trolling. I hate people.
I like both these guys, Doug I consider has Oscar Wilde-like notions of the world (wish he would put a bit more effort into it these days though), I love his catch-line from Screenwipe on the BBC: "I'm Doug Stanhope and thats why I drink"....pure Wilde self deprication. If he's got the wit...he should use it more, how many of Wilde's infamous quips were on the spot I wonder?
And as for Alex Jones...you can see he's a good egg, a good heart, but rather than take every ball and run with it as far as he can...why not tone it down a bit, reflect and make more cojent directed arguements based on the facts alone. Have his opinion on the facts he gathers as a seperate section in his show. And interview technique: just allow others to finish a thought, finish a sentance...ferment a sentance! Allow your interviewee to speak. You're not Bill O'Reilly thank God!
Stanhope and Alex are polar opposites. Why does it have to be one way or the other. When im concerned about the chemtrails flying over my house I'll listen to Alex and when the world gives me too much shit and I need a break I'll listen to Stanhope. Ideological piety is a road with no exits
3 days before this interview I was skipping school, getting high as fuck for the first time, and having one of the best days of my life. Just thought I'd share that with everyone :)
Wow Alex gets it, his caddy shack reference and how the character applies to Stanhopes last point. What a complex physiological show Alex has created and what an amazing podium he has built.
This host guy, whoever the hell he is, seems like a dime store Limbaugh. What a nut case. He's the kind who needs just one significantly bad event to derail him into starting a cult or plotting to kill a government official. I feel sorry for his kids. And being gay isn't a "lifestyle." Are all those heterosexual nudist colonies "the straight lifestyle"?
@GameShowGuy As a matter of fact, this seems to me like one of the very few public appearances in which he was sober, which might be why he seemed so nervous and uncomfortable.
why do people get pissed when they dont fully agree with peoples opinions? who cares. dont fucking watch. dont start a fucking argument. your wastig more of your already uneventful life.
I don't think Alex Jones liked having a comedian across from him in the show. It means his jokes aren't as funny...not so much attention for you buddy, eh?
You can tell Alex is intimidated by Doug. Alex knows everyword that Doug says is right, but hes on way to much of an ego trip with his show and career to admit it
Alex is a fucking an opportunistic sociopath. The irony is that he is exactly like the people that he "claims" to stand against. The video is only proof of the aforementioned. Pay attention to the advertisements. And don't throw in that ridiculous argument that "he has to make money"! He is a piece of shit and you and I both know it.
@1RebelDog1 : yes, and its also funny, even in a sad way . . . Do not drink all night and get on stage Alex, Stanhope is used to alcohol so he doesn't have the problems like you. Bottom line: Dont put on the news at a comedy show - Unless your name is George Carlin, Bill Hicks and many others.
@Symbioticism He's talking about this before in his own standup. Jones toured with stanhope and a few others, jones got booed off the stage all the time. Stanhope thinks he's crazy but likes him cus he's honest about it.
when I listen to these two guys express their beliefs it's like I'm listening to the pessimistic hopeless side of myself argue with the optimistic side of myself. I'd like to believe that humanity has a chance, but I think i'm a logical person so...

@MrPacmanpacks i wasn't really trying to attack alex jones, don't really know who he is. Came here for the stanhope, stayed for the stanhope. I just found what he said there to be rather peculiar. Kinda like when closet racists say "I have plenty of (insert minority here) friends". Shows your trying to hard to hide it.
@spolly18 : I try to hide nothing, I dont know Alex Jones, he might be a crazy person who is evil to kids for all I know, but the information him and his team bring forward is real... I just commented on you because this is a very old clip, but I remember very clearly when I heard it live that I was like: "ups Alex, you are going to get attacked for the way you said that" -and here you are with exactly that point one year later :-D Bottom line: You are properly a great guy, critical & should be
@MrPacmanpacks Well there you go, I wasn't the only one who thought it. Why would you say he would be evil to children? I think you said that because you yourself are evil to children and are trying to hide it! :P haha just kidding.
all these anti government rants... what kind of freedom do you think the corporate systems affords people? freedom to do anything doesn't exist under the corporate system. if you say something or wear something the company you work for doesn't agree with, sorry. say goodbye to that health insurance and the means to feed your kids. the government is the only thing standing between us and corporate slavery. that nature alex is going to would be an oil dump if it wasn't for the government..
I choose not to have kids because I don't find it enjoyable to have to protect my child from the onslaught of subliminal messages, propoganda and a corrupt government. Why bring a child into this kind of world. ?? Sorry if that it offends you but I'm just not strong enough to be a good father.

No offense but that's a terrible reason not to have children.

@Jeeperanthony Well, Mr. Jones happens to believe a bunch of bullshit whereas Doug seems to naturally repel bullshit. I'm talking about his religious beliefs and some conspiracy theories; I acknowledge not everything he says is bullshit.
@andrewh817 : You can trash people all day, but it wont get any of us any where - People who "wake up" to the real world, isn't people who believed this or that person, but people who began to look things up for them selfs, doing their OWN study: This is more like a PERSONAL JOURNEY THAT ONLY A PERSON CAN DO FOR HIM SELF !!! Follow the FACTS, the INFORMATION and go with that, not follow the person you get it from - I mean: Thats just another form of sheeps...
@MrPacmanpacks I'm trashing his beliefs, not him as a person. And trashing stupid and irrational beliefs DOES get us somewhere. In fact, the more vocal people are about stupid beliefs, the less vocal the people with stupid beliefs are going to be and vice versa.
@MrPacmanpacks amen to that man, this is like people you hear quoting some albert einstein soundbite whilst having not the slightest fucking shred of understanding of what his contribution was or why they even know his name.
Doug Stanhope always comes across as an interesting, complex human being, whereas Jones usually seems decidedly on the verge of the monomaniacal, like a nymphomaniac on the verge of their bromide running out. Whereas Jones is all about the NWO, and huge conspiracies, Stanhope is always careful to ground it in personal experience and the everyday cases of the erosions of human rights and expectations. I know which one of these guys I listen to more.
With personal freedom comes personal responsibility, and 99.9% of the population stll wants the government to sit on their laps, chew their food for them and then spit it down their throats.
@infinitesimotel thats stupid. makes no sense and that stat was pulled outta your ass proving your ignorance. most people dont want gov. doing shit for them, they merely want the government to protect them from the corporate plutocracy. you guys wanna get rid of the government, but you forget who will fill that void, and that is plotocratic, oligarchic interests.
@SelfAware1 : part 1: Well, to start with I can tell you what it is we need: No government as many say they would like is NOT an option, but we need LOCAL governments with LOCAL laws so people can move and live just the way THEY want - But most important: The government need to work for the PEOPLE, and the people in government needs to be accountable for EVERYTHING they do and get PUNISHED for their war crimes and their contempt for law and order. This is what the world need RIGHT NOW (continue)
@SelfAware1 : part 2: ...but how to get there is another story. There is no easy fix as I see it, there is only the people taking over the streets peacefully or a global armed conflict against the human race... Thats where I stand right now anyway, but I might be wrong... Any alternatives is welcome to be posted !!!
@MrPacmanpacks of course we want governmetn to not be corrupt, to listen to the people, and to truly be held accountable, everyone wants that, but how to do it is the real question. and abolishing the gov somehow only leaves us with corporate interest and monied power, so although govenrment sucks, it truly is our only defense against plutocrats and oligarchs. thats my point. deep down i believe the government and corporations will be abolished, but we havent evolved to that point yet.
@SelfAware1 Yes it was pulled out of my arse but it is accurate given my observations. People buy into the fear propaganda because most of their basic needs are taken care of and they are happy to moan yet still pay high prices. At the moment. As far as plutarchy taking over a void, not if every person becomes responsible for themselves and their community. Those plutachic interests wont have any bearing if no one takes them on.
