It's my lifetime wish to visit every one of these sites. I plan to do it for my honeymoon. Despite my living in the U.S., I'm going to get married in N.Z. My fiance can take it or leave it.
I went there in April. It's a must see for any LOTRs fan. I agree, I could easily live there. And I have to say that NZ in real life exceeds expectations and is more beautiful than any photosgraphs or video you'll ever see. The beauty is so panoramic that you really need your peripheral view to soak it all in.
I'm about to live in these places... call me lotr/tolkien fanatic, but it's something that I have with the Nature itself too... i love Nature and NZ is my dream.
About 160 NZ dollars for a day trip... it's expensive but worth it. It included transport, full guide and driver, champagne lunch and new friends!! Awesome tour, highly recommended...
Well, apart from "Edoras" and "Amon Hen"... I haven't got much definite videos, but I have loads of photos that you can see in the New Zealand photos on my websote... you can find them via my website which should be listed in my youtube profile. Edoras was the only location I actually paid a tour company to take me to, because it is on private ground.
Hi! Just wondering did you go there on a movie tour? I am doing research on movie tourism and authenticity in New Zealand and it be great if you could do a questionnaire for me :)
For this location, I did a day tour...it takes 2-3 hrs to get here from Christchurch in the South Island. There's not much to say for your questionaire except that this tour was perfect, you get to stand on the mount itself, the external location for Helms Deep is pointed out to you (see my website photos, link in my profile), and the weather was awesome.
But yes, NZ is definitely beautiful. The films only use CGI for fantasy elements... the locations are real. The locations are amazing.
i NEED to go here but I live in the United Kingdom, about as far from New Zealand as you can get

If you take the 4x4 Tour from Geraldine you get to see Edoras (Mt. Sunday) and drive right into Helms Deep, which sits behind Edoras.
