@spaceraida It too takes me back to my summer of 16 though it was when this song was brand new(1971). It will always remind me of those fun times & the sound of D.C..
hey thanks 4 posting this song my dad played this everyday 4 us growing up, he said they played this at tha skating rink in detroit back then alot, im 32 now and still love it!
At the time I was 11 years old in D.C., and this was one of the first 45's that i purchased with my allowence at the "Soul Shack" record store. Great Music!
Soul Shack...what a blast from the past. It was my favorite record store....I was so angry when they closed it down. I wondered why they did not re-locate. they had EVERYTHING! I miss the old DC!!
so right central downtown - that must've been great while it was there and can imagine devestating when it closed! I lived to DC 1990-2005, as a lot of changes were going on...9th thru 14th St NW between E and H Sts almost unrecognizable now...so many small family bizzes, and even stores like Maxy Waxies (F St btwn 12&13th NW) are gone w/o a trace. Makes me happy at least we're old enough to have grown up w/stores like Soul Shack, and people coming up today mostly know only big chains.
@limeginger That's right!!! I bought this & many 45rpm from Soul Shack & Waxie Maxie. I school shopped down on F Street; Cavelier's Mens Shop & Flagg Brother's Shoe Stores.Yes growing-up in D.C. in the 60's & 70's was great. Now F & G Streets N.W. & H Street N.E. are now just distant memories of a time past.
Thanks you´re a gentleman, its pleasure to enjoy your soul music unforgettable of years ago, and alway will love the vynils because the sound is brilliant.God bless you.
Here in Lima Perú, in 1971 i heard in radio that wonderful soul by Peoples choice and never did can buy in shore, because no found. Thanks for posting
Those hot pants were something else. I can remember @ Alice Deal Jr High school, some girls was sent home because they had on "Hot Pants". LOL. My sisters had some with those "Popcorn" blouses. It was the fashion statement. Very sexy.
Brother you are so right. It was the best time to be a teenager. Yeah man I'd forgotten about those popcorn blouses they were sure sexy. Remember those fishnet & window-pane stockings? OOH-AH!!! We must get together to reminisce & laugh.
I always loved the hip hop song:"Tread Water" by De La Soul...Now i know the reason! Thanks for posting!
