hey man.... i was just wondering.... im on my 7th day.... and i tryed used the sinus wash........ but it didnt work.... the water wouldnt go over to the other side.... i just got a massive headache.... please help.... my nose is still stuffed... and its been a week..... fuck.... going on to 8 days tomorrow.....
hey!.... great vid!...... how long till you can actually get back to workout and engage in physical activity..... like working out.......? I just had it done today....... and was just wondering........ I would really appreciate ur input.... thank you.....
@lovelydaize Howdy, I can't remember exactly when i felt up to working out again because the surgery was almost 3 years ago now. I do remember i couldn't workout for a couple weeks or whatever the doctor said but by the time i was cleared to exercise i definitely felt like it.
@tqb43 how do you feel 3 years later, any headaches still? I have my surgery scheduled next month, very nervous about it. you looked worse at day 2 than you did on day 1
@acousticdrewber83 Hey i feel pretty good. I don't get headaches usually. Sometimes the the seasons change i get a couple days where my sinuses bother me but other than that i feel great. I've had maybe 2 or 3 sinus infections sicne the surgery, but each have cleared up with medicine. I'm glad I did the surgery.
@fallontoni ummm i still use the rinse every now and then just to try to keep things clean. i've gone a couple months without it. it's mostly habit now.
how long did it take for your nose to fully heal? also how long was it until you could do anything active or sports? also have you ever been hit in the nose since the surgery? I just had my surgery last friday and have to get my stints taken out this friday.oh and same here about the pressure in the forehead and feeling hot without actually having a fever.if you could let me know i would greatly appreciate it thanks!!!!!
@Neal123 i can't exactly remember how long it took my nose to fully heal. defniately by 2 weeks i was feeling alright. I also can't exactly remember how long i couldnt exercise for, it may have been 3 weeks or so. it wasn't too long. Sorry the surgery was a couple years ago now. I haven't had any serious hits to the nose since the surgery. You really start feeling better in just a coupel weeks, but it definately took a couple months to get adjusted to the "new sinuses"
Hey i have been suffering from sinus problems for the past few years and have come across a few things that help massivly with managing it, mine is caused by a cows milk allergy and deviated septum, which has lead to a fungal sinus infection so im currently waiting for a scan in a weeks time, but drinking green tea 3+ times a day among a massive number of other health benefits from it including helping with diabetes and high blood pressure and managing allergys and sinal rinsing helps too.
Hey dude thanks for posting, I'm trying to nudge my SO into having surgery for nasal polyps so it was a real help to be able to show him videos like these to ease his fears. I have chronic pain myself, so when he told me he had it in his face at all times I instantly wanted to find vidblogs like these to let him know that the cure was far better than the disease. Kudos, and hope shit's goin better for you (tho' I know repeats are sometimes necessary)
Yeah the surgery was definitely worth it. It's an adjustment but i feel much better. I'm worried that it'll just repeat like you mentioned but so far i can't say anything has happened, to my knowledge.
Seem to be having trouble finding out information on how long it takes before you can breathe again once having Septoplasty/Turbinate reduction. It's been a week for me and I still can't breathe much through my nose - which was the point of the surgery in the first place.
Who knows how long it takes to start breathing normally again after surgery?
Hi, I had my surgery (rt middle turbinate & severely deviated septum ) in Oct. I had drainage for 5 days. My 1 & 2 week follow ups were shear "HELL" , leftover packing had to be removed that was too painful to remove on the 1st post opt ! I'm still a lil stuffy & noticed a whistling sound, so I check inside my nose & noticed today that I have a septal perforation, yes a hole! I looked on here for a repair solution. Thanks for sharing.
I have been perseverating on surgery videos so it's good to see successful post surgery blogs. My pre-op visit is Thursday where I'll get more specifics, then I will post part 2 presurgery blog...from what he said they are correcting a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates and widening the passageways from the ethmoid to maxillary cavity. He said it would be a 2 wk recovery (Ouch) but work is being cool so I'm going for it. It is worth it, right? This surgery means no VACAY for me this year!
@tqb43 Hi. I am from Sweden. I just had the deviated septum surgery two days ago, on Wednesday. I am going back next wednesday a week after to remove the packing. I notice in your clips and in others that you guys have pretty much clean noses. I mean, mine is stuffed and has dry blood stuffing it. I can't clean it well because I am afraid to push so hard. Any tips? And does it hurt when they remove the packing?! I hope to hear from you. Thanks a lot.
Hi swimpal. Thanks for watching my clips. I remember my nose was a bloody crusty mess too, but what i did was put hydroperoxide on a cue-tip and rubbed it up in my nose to help get some of the annoying crust out. It hurt a little bit when they removed the packing but it's over with very quickly. It's much better than having it stuck up there. I remember the packing gave me headachs, and once they took it out, i felt soo much better!
Hej! Thank you very much for replying. I am relieved to know it will feel much better without the packing. Because I don't know if I am reacting differently, or this is normal. It just hurts all the time I am not on pain killers. And fever comes and goes all the time. I am honestly tired of it. It drives my crazy knowing I may be like this for another four days. My doctor said I needed it. Otherwise, I'd be really regreting having it. Thanks a lot. All the best.
So was the surgery worth it? The doc is talking like I need to have this done but I really don't want to. I should because I have lived my life with a stuffed up nose and I'm 35 so that's a long time. You said in the vid that when you used the wash you could feel the liquid go back toward your ear, was that normal?
howdy, yeah it was normal. Or at least nothing ever came of it. I still think the surgery was worth it. I have only had about 2 colds since my surgery which before i was getting sick all the time (I then and still worked out 5x a week) I think if you've been stuffed up for 35 years then why not? We grow young, not old.
aw thanks. but don't worry. I was scared of the packaging too. It's like being very very congested and not being able to breath out your nose. You can't feel the packing. Just dont mess with it/blow your nose hard etc. Just do as ur dr says :D
hey I just had a septoplasty on my nose as well yesterday, but I had the same problems you did with trying to sleep the first day...but I am using that same nose wash and is it ok if I use it a day after surgery?
ah i hope ur feeling alright. I'm not sure is it's alright to use the wash right after surgery. I'm sure if u do it gently it should be fine, it's just saline.
No i thus far have not had anymore sinus infections, at least that i know of. I had one nasal polyp but they took care of it. I havent been checked up in about 6 months.
thnks for yr response. im going to be checked for diabetes. just b4 i had this really bad bout of chronic sinusitus, i had a huge urge for sweet foods ,plus carbs. i over did it. sugar is suppose to trigger off sinus infections.according to chiropracors.this was like 6weeks ago. could be diabetes 2. i have gone off sugar like bigtime even on special occassions. if im to have an op(waiting waiting)- yr vid has and will cheer me up thankyou
Yes, I'm diabetic and based on your symptoms, it doesn't sound like you are. I've never heard of a diabetic having a sugar/carb craving. It's usually the opposite. And too much sugar/carbs doesn't give u diabetes. And what does a chiropracor know about diabetes? they focus on the muscle-skeleton system. I hate diabetes misconceptions.
my day 5.8... They said not to blow my nose until tomorrow. Can't wait. My shit is clogged as fuk. Going to dr. in the a.m. to i guess get crust removed. Yeah the perc's are starting to leave me in a daze so theyre cut for now. Note: An awful smell that is constant and gross. Like hot garbage literally, so ready for that to go away too. Hey, how has your sinuses been? Do you still rinse?
I remember that smell, it's nasty. I bet your breath smells bad too. Dont blow your nose too hard for awhile. My sinuses overall have been pretty good, i haven't had any infections or anything. I had one cold this year too. I feel a little congested when i wake up sometimes but it gets better throughout the day. And yes i still rinse when i feel like i need it or when i cut the grass.
day 7 here. Saw dr yesterday. He told me he got a lot of sh** out especially from the forehead. He said he put antibiotic-like packages in there (frontal cavities) and wants to take them out in 2 weeks. Kinda freaks me out a bit. Still feeling pressure between eyes. I want to blow it out, but I know it'll disrupt healing. Thanks for your help I appreciate your input.
its been 12hrs since my surgery, I signed in this morning, surgery list to do in order; septoplasty, bilateral endoscopic ethmoidectomy, bilateral endoscopic maxillary antrotomy, bilateral smr turbinates, bilateral nasal polypectomy, nasal endoscopy, concha bullosa resection. list is longer then I thought? I have sleep apnea, no dev septum cause very minor. and he said the bleeding wasnt so bad so no packing this time? im leaking alittle, but I can breath w/nose alittle already pains not bad
hey i had this done 2 weeks a go and i tell you theres nothing more painfull than getting a cold 1 week later i cant even tell you the pain i have a cold and a sinus infection the stuff that iv been blowing out of my nose its crazy and it hurst so much when i snezze blood still comes out but my DR told me thats from the infection i tell you when it rains it poors so can someone tell me when this all gets better
I have headaches every now and again since the sugar and its only been two weeks and I also feel the water in the back around the ear too. It almost feels like you could tilt over and the water come out of the ear. So I guess it is normal. Those blood clots that come out are GROSS!!! Do you smell weird smells every now and again?
Ah the water behind the ear with the rinsing is normal, just make sure there isn't pain. And i did smell some weird things at first because of all the snot in my head/throat (I think thats why) I sometimes get the same smells when i have a cold. It got better though!
hey mate i had my sinus surgery about 4 days ago those nose packing was pain it was ok after i got em out my nose is still blocky but the med's i'm are working hehe the pain killers make trip out a bit its all good i found out that sinus surgery is common its really common over here in australia.thanks for sharing you video's with us on the surgery
Just had this surgery less than 11 hours ago. I'm doing really well so far. It was my third time under general anesthetic (sp?) So i didn't really have any issues there. I had my tonsils removed as well as the sinus surgery. Throat is a bit sore but nose is doing GREAT I can breathe!! they took my packing out right away. Only thing is, they asked if I felt naseaus at all...I told them no, I was feeling great...Then I threw up. So beware, random puking
oo ya one additional thing,.. idk if they did or not of ir any of you that had the surgery did as well. but i had trouble standing up and peeing... it was the weirdest thing. i had to squat like a girl haha idk if thats because of the anestesie or maybe they hooked me up to a catheter, which i dont think they did... oo well hour 20 as of now and feel like crap.
Hey cmoney, funny comment about the deviated rectum lmfao. I'll be having this surgery in a few months I can't wait. I appreciate my breathing because I do a lot of fitness, and I have the constant sniffles and hate being out in public because I am worried there are things in my nose which would embarass me. When I had shoulder surgery I had the anasthetics too and I couldn't pee for ages. It was a nightmare, but it's standard, eventually it will flow.
haha i dont remember having trouble peeing however, i was constipated for awhile. But it all worked out. I was on hydrocodine as well. I stopped taking it after 2 days and switched to tylenol because it made me dizzy. Sleeping is bad but in the long run things get better :)
so its been about 20 hours since iv had the suregery, and im bleeding a good bit still. haha first thing i said to the docs was hows my deviated rectum look? they were like good lord.... haha. the sponges they put up ur nose is bothersome at least for me it is. last night was one of the worst nights of sleep ive ever gotten, alot of sleep for 40 min and stay up for an hour, and continued to do that throughout the night. the pain medication they gave me was hydrocodein probably not spelled right
hey man i need surgery too, its like weird when I'm sleeping because if I'm sleep one way like my right shoulder facing the ground the left side of my nose will get unblocked. same thing happens when i sleep on my left shoulder the right side of my nose gets blocked, i looked on the internet and many people have the same problem, i am not sure to go for the surgery when i am older(i am 15) this whole thing really started when i was like 9. i think its due to the bent\lose septum.
Yeah im doing 2-3 rinse a day but i ran outta the salt packages , did you use any home remedies? Also did you take any decongestant medicine? my ears feel stuffed and unable to pop... thanks
Home remedies? no not really just tylenol and rinsing and sometimes a cough drop because my throat was sore from the tubes being down it. I did not take any decongestant medicine, i'm not sure if thats a great idea or not since its all healing in there. Ask ur doctor if u get the chance.
Hey, I am officially on day 7 of recovery and I too, am still getting headaches in the right corner of my forehead. But also, pain behind my right eye with a little sensitivity to light. Did you have any problems with that?
Also, it's sooo wierd...I now have pain swallowing food. What's causing that? Maybe it needs to heal from the tubes down my throat? And yes, sinus kits are not very fun!
Yo, Its been a week since my surgery and like you i still have pain on my forehead.. Doc told me to do sinsus rinses now 2 times a day.. just wondering if you still get the headaches??
Yeah i definitely had really bad pain in my forehead for more than a week, but it gradually goes away. I think it was actually caused by bleeding up there because whenever i rinsed after my headaches i had a lot of clots come out. I haven't had any headaches since then actually its really nice. Just give it time and it'll get better i promise. And i was doing my rinse 3x a day
So far i have had 2 sinus surgery and i think it was not good doing it, cause once you had one you need to redo it againg it took me 11months for me to do the 2nd one and now i would like to go for the 3rd one BUT not with the same Dr. lol... so i hope your doing alot better than me and just take care of urself buddy!! :)
ur sinuses do connect to ur ears so that is probably normal when you do the saline rinse...u wanna send me some pain meds? lol kidding...I added you, think ur cute and I hope u get better and wanna know how you do
i was looking up videos bc im about to get my surgery in 6 days, thanks for all the info . i hope my voice changes for the better too lol

Sleeping is bad but in the long run things get better :)

so its been about 20 hours since iv had the suregery, and im bleeding a good bit still. haha first thing i said to the docs was hows my deviated rectum look? they were like good lord.... haha. the sponges they put up ur nose is bothersome at least for me it is. last night was one of the worst nights of sleep ive ever gotten, alot of sleep for 40 min and stay up for an hour, and continued to do that throughout the night. the pain medication they gave me was hydrocodein probably not spelled right

hey man i need surgery too, its like weird when I'm sleeping because if I'm sleep one way like my right shoulder facing the ground the left side of my nose will get unblocked. same thing happens when i sleep on my left shoulder the right side of my nose gets blocked, i looked on the internet and many people have the same problem, i am not sure to go for the surgery when i am older(i am 15) this whole thing really started when i was like 9. i think its due to the bent\lose septum.

ah well what did ur doctor say? does it cause problems liek infections or is it just bothersome?

Yeah im doing 2-3 rinse a day but i ran outta the salt packages , did you use any home remedies? Also did you take any decongestant medicine? my ears feel stuffed and unable to pop... thanks
RawbertDestruct 3 years ago
hey,
Home remedies? no not really just tylenol and rinsing and sometimes a cough drop because my throat was sore from the tubes being down it.

Thanks
RawbertDestruct 3 years ago
hey thanks for you comment.

Tylenol sucks.. You should have just stuck with the hardcore pain medication and washed them down with beer. Do not tell your mom.
You have a cold now so I am worried about you. Limit your movies to 4 per day and do not smoke. Thanks
