There is no one now, or ever will be like Johnny Winter. Saw him at the Texas Club a few years ago here in Baton Rouge. He burned up the club. He is aging now, his eye sight is very bad, but them fingers aint blind, and that dobro was smokin. He played Highway 61 and Master Mechanic, my two favorites. Really all of Johnnys songs are my favorites. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM!
Johnny doesn't do a bad version of this song on any recording but my favorite is from "Captured Live" only because it is a little longer. I like Johnny in blues mode but I love Johnny in rock mode and I consider this rock and roll!
Anyone can find a better slide player in this world? I don't THINK so.....this version is so hot the grooves are melting; and yes I know; Winter uses fingerpicks; but he knows WHEN to use them.....nuff' said.....oh; the vocal ain't too bad on this track either......
I Love John Dawson Winter's music,he is one of my earliest influences and i want to thank you for keeping his music alive!!! If there were not people like you, this kind of music would die very pre-maturely. Thanks for keeping it alive.
I love this guy. I wish they would still let us hear the 50th Anniversary B0B Dylan tribute show with G.E. Smith and the NBC ( now a K-Kast-SIKKKKK property, gag ) And I would like to know what open chord he uses for slide, or open chords, or tunings, I imagine there are several.
Summer of 1970...had this on the four track in my vw bug.
Life was pretty good, actually.

I'm not a big blues fan, BUT I LOVE Johnny's slant on it. His playing, his singing, a super talent deserving of a whole lot more praise.

I saw Johnny in Guelph in Club Denim 1997/8 for 25 dollars - stood at his feet FFS while he played the best blues I have ever heard!!
