yes, the statue is a lion with a cross on it, it is still to be be found some 2 kms from the center of Addis Abeba, near to the national theater. Ethiopia used to be a kindom, and the king called himself 'lion of Judah'. in our national flag, we used to have a lion with a cross on it.
